[Bug 1171718] [NEW] using tabs, gets confused when different lines in different tabs

2013-04-23 Thread cc young
Public bug reported:

using more than one tab, if you cntl-minus to make text smaller in one
tab, when you go to a tab that retained the regular size, it puts in
extra blank lines

first tab:
$ vim large file

second tab:
$ psql (or other readline app)

first tab:
shift-minus (to make font smaller = more lines per page)

second tab:
(extra blank lines have been inserted)
(if editing, will mess up edits)

[Bug 415320] Re: unlock keyring steals focus (no cursor in overlying window)

2013-04-23 Thread Petr Gladkikh
This issue lingering for quite a while so I would propose to solve it by
replacing keyring unlocking dialog with one that shadows whole screen
leaving only dialog at top. Such dialog is already used elsewhere.

This is not ideal solution since reduces ease of autologin (password is
asked anyway however skippable) but at least behavior is obvious and
straightforward.

[Bug 1171771] [NEW] Incorrect directory size shown in properties dialog

2013-04-23 Thread Telescope_Nerd
Public bug reported:

This bug can be reproduced by selecting a directory with a large number
of files occupying significant disk space (e.g. 1GB). Right click the
directory in nautilus and select properties.

Expected behaviour: In the Contents field of the properties dialog
box nautilus should display the correct number of files in the directory
and sub-directories and the disk space used (e.g. 67,292 items,
totalling 10.3 GB). Or nautilus should indicate that this information
is unknown and/or being computed.

Actual behaviour: nautilus displays incorrect values for the number of
items and disk space (always an underestimate), which periodically
update (increase) until the correct values are reached. Between updates
there is no indication that the values are still being computed or that
the currently displayed values are wrong.

[Bug 1160441] Re: Calendar is still in English despite French is selected as the Language during the installation

2013-04-23 Thread Parameswaran Sivatharman
locale returns the following

ubuntu@ubuntu-Inspiron-N4010:~$ locale
LANG=fr_FR.UTF-8
LANGUAGE=
LC_CTYPE=fr_FR.UTF-8
LC_NUMERIC=en_GB.UTF-8
LC_TIME=en_GB.UTF-8
LC_COLLATE=fr_FR.UTF-8
LC_MONETARY=en_GB.UTF-8
LC_MESSAGES=fr_FR.UTF-8
LC_PAPER=en_GB.UTF-8
LC_NAME=en_GB.UTF-8
LC_ADDRESS=en_GB.UTF-8
LC_TELEPHONE=en_GB.UTF-8
LC_MEASUREMENT=en_GB.UTF-8
LC_IDENTIFICATION=en_GB.UTF-8
LC_ALL=

The issue that I reported in this bug is that even though the locale is
French, the calendar entries are in English ( the location that I
selected during the installation was London). Screen_1.jpg shows the
exact thing that I think as a regression. We used to have the calendar
entries localised in the language selected up-until the images that
contained ubiquity (2.13.11) or earlier. It may not be a regression in
ubiquity but the behaviour changed after 2.13.12 onwards.

[Bug 1160441] Re: Calendar is still in English despite French is selected as the Language during the installation

2013-04-23 Thread Gunnar Hjalmarsson
Well, I'd call it a perceived regression. ;-) What happened is that the
installer started to assume/guess that since you selected London as the
time zone location, you want that things like numbers, currency, date,
and time are displayed using the format conventions in Great Britain.[1]
Unfortunately some applications, including indicator-datetime, display
the names of weekdays and months in the corresponding language, even if
the language you explicitly selected is something else.

But the indicator-datetime version in my PPA should fix that. Are you
really sure that you installed that package successfully? A simple way
to find out is to run this command in a terminal window:

  dpkg -l | grep indicator-datetime

The version should be 12.10.3daily13.03.26-0ubuntu1+daysMonths.

[1] Please note that you can change the language and regional formats
settings via System Settings - Language Support.

[Bug 1160441] Re: Calendar is still in English despite French is selected as the Language during the installation

2013-04-23 Thread Parameswaran Sivatharman
I can confirm again that the ppa does not fix the issue that I reported.
i.e. even after installing the ppa and rebooting, the calendar entries
were still in English.

Here follows the package installed

ubuntu@ubuntu-Inspiron-N4010:~$ dpkg -l | grep indicator-datetime
ii  indicator-datetime
12.10.3daily13.03.26-0ubuntu1+daysMonths amd64Simple clock

And as Brian confirmed in comment #11 that changing the Regional Formats
section of Language Support to francais (France) solved the issue ( that is
even before installing the above ppa ) :)

[Bug 1160441] Re: Calendar is still in English despite French is selected as the Language during the installation

2013-04-23 Thread Gunnar Hjalmarsson
It's fine that you are able to change the appearance to your liking. :)
By selecting France for the regional formats, you get a French locale
all through, i.e. what the installer used to deliver before the change.
Possibly, in your case, that's what you want, also with respect to
date/time formats, currency, numbers, etc.

I for one can't help wondering why the indicator-datetime version in my
PPA didn't make a difference for you. :(

Thanks!

[Bug 1108056] Re: fetching URLs freezes pidgin

2013-04-23 Thread Robert Hooker
** Description changed:

+ [Impact]
+
+ * Pidgin in 13.04 is not working with our newer glib, startup is racy and
hangs ~75% of the time.
+An explination of why is available here on the upstream bug
https://developer.pidgin.im/ticket/15493#comment:27
+
+ [Test Case]
+
+  * Boot 13.04
+ * Add an AIM account in pidgin (most likely works for others but this is
tested) and set it to auto connect
+ * Close and start pidgin 10 times (be sure to use the buddies - quit menu
option)
+ * If it does not hang even once it is fixed, if it does it is not.
+
+
+ [Original Message]
+
  after about two weeks with Pidgin freezing on two different laptops, I
  made a brand new clean profile and this is what i get

[Bug 1171943] [NEW] Shut down dialog not show, restarts instead

2013-04-23 Thread Ernst Sjöstrand
Public bug reported:

This started when I upgraded to Raring.
When I select shut down, I don't get the shut down dialog. Instead, the
desktop exits immediately and then the computer reboots instead of shutting
down!!
I ran annotate-output tail -f .xsession-errors on another VT and this is what
it captured
after choosing shut down. I'm running Swedish locale.

[Bug 1168467] Re: phy0 - rt2800pci_mcu_status: Error AND [drm:gen6_sanitize_pm] *ERROR*

2013-04-23 Thread Václav Pavlík
Hi,

I am aware of the fact that it is a driver issue. I had just no luck
with reparing it - I hoped the updates will eventually do but no luck
there either :-)

I can access both wireless and wired network with no problem.
The thing that is bothering me is that on boot or wake-up, the wifi takes ages
to load (once it connects it's OK) and sometimes it don't (I supend and wake
again and it works). This happens more frequently when I am on battery power or
when I disconnect a suspended laptop from power and wake it on battery only.

Thanks,
V.

[Bug 1124632] Re: Backspace key does not work anymore.

2013-04-23 Thread Adam Hallgat
But being unable to change it is a bug.

Also Alt+down only can be used to go back one times, even if the navigator
displays the previous folders.
For example:
You are in   /username/Images/Wallpapers folder.You Alt+up.
You are in /username/Images folder. You Alt+up.
You are in  /username folder.

Now you see that with your mouse you can still go back to the Wallpapers
folder, but Alt+down only takes you to the Images folder, and pressing Alt+down
does nothing.
The second Alt+tab should bring you back to the Wallpapers folder. (Or what's
the point of showing the folders you have came from?)

And what's the point of disabling the backspace function?

[Bug 1095962] Re: Empathy GUI does not start

2013-04-23 Thread Harald Held
I just did a clean install of raring and also observed that the empathy
GUI does not come up. This seems to be connected with the option '-h',
which is how I put it into the autostart list. Without '-h' it opens as
expected but, of course, also when you log in - which I would like to
avoid.

[Bug 1113300] Re: gnome-control-center crashed with SIGSEGV in empathy_account_widget_apply_and_log_in() - lookup_type_node_I()

2013-04-23 Thread Bernhard Sessler
Same problem here. I did a fresh install of Ubuntu 13.04 AMD64 and used
my old Ubuntu 12.10 AMD64 home partition (located on another HDD). The
problem occurs when attempting to create an AIM, ICQ or Yahoo! account.

I've already tried to remove the .mission-control .config/signond
.config/libaccounts-glib directories with no effect. My previously
configured Facebook and Google accounts were gone afterwards however.

[Bug 1018724] Re: rhythmbox stops playing songs after one second

2013-04-23 Thread Savvas Radevic
I had the same problem in 12.10 and now in 13.04. I closed totem
I installed dconf-tools package, I opened the dconf-editor and pressed Set to
default for every value under /org/gnome/Totem/ -- now totem doesn't stop
after the 1st second.

[Bug 1168858] Re: Nautilus window opens behind current window

2013-04-23 Thread Treviño
Please, don't revert this.

Nautilus won't be fixed (nor downstream or upstream), since it's
already fixed (see https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=693815 or
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=674816 for example).

Also compiz is right in not giving the focus to Nautilus if it is opened
with an old action timestamp, that's how focus stealing prevention works
according to Gtk.

So, please, fix deluge. This is what you need to do to have proper
startup notification: http://is.gd/gqV7uN

[Bug 1168858] Re: Nautilus window opens behind current window

2013-04-23 Thread Cas
This is a regression from 12.04 to 13.04 and you are determined to pin
the blame on Deluge despite my example that simply opening Nautilus from
the terminal displays this regression and Deluge does nothing more than
call xdg-open.

[Bug 1168858] Re: Nautilus window opens behind current window

2013-04-23 Thread Treviño
Opening from terminal is not a valid example, since the terminals we
currently have, do not set correctly the environment variable needed to
pass to nautilus the startup-notification with the event timestamp that
caused nautilus to open.

I know this, and as you can see I tried to change this upstream, but it's not
the case since this is the wanted policy.
An application that launches another one should say when this has happened in
order to make the WM to focus it (this is important to avoid that applications
that takes much time to load won't steal the focus, while you're currently
doing something else).

I have just realised how ridiculous this is after testing any
application. Basically ANY application that the user wishes to open a
folder to view the location of a file will be affected in 13.04.

This will annoy the hell out of a large number of users.

We already investigated it, and nor unity or nautilus will change at
this point.

What you need on deluge is just properly calling xdg-open with a proper
DESKTOP_STARTUP_ID env set.

[Bug 1168858] Re: Nautilus window opens behind current window

2013-04-23 Thread Cas
From my position the logic behind the changes just don't make sense and
I am thinking of the bigger picture not just Deluge.

I can open any file with xdg-open, with the associated application
opening focused, file-roller, image viewer, firefox etc... So that begs
the question why is Nautilus a special case and we have to jump through
hoops to open a Nautilus window focused?

An application developer when using xdg-open should not have to worry
about special cases involving Nautilus file manager to have the new
window focused like every other application.

With 13.04 so close to release all the applications that use the 'open
folder' feature will encounter this issue and users (inc devs?) will be
irate but you have not addressed this concern?
