[Bug 1186523] [NEW] Unicode error when trying to tick or delete an unticked item
Public bug reported: What I did: I marked an unticked menu item in alacarte and clicked the checkbox to tick it. The error also occurs when I mark it and click the 'delete' button. What happened: Nothing happens in alacarte. The blue background that marks the item as selected disappears, as if it had lost the GUI focus. When I start alacarte from the command line and try to reproduce the bug, I see tracebacks of Python Unicode errors on the command line (see attached file). What's strange: When I mark an unticked item and click 'New separator', 'Move up', or 'Move down', the item gets ticked again (in addition to the separator being inserted, or the item being moved). This works most of the time, but not always. The 'Properties' button works insofar as it brings up the correct dialog box, but all entry fields are empty. This problem remains after the item has been re-ticked by one of the 'New separator', 'Move up', and 'Move down' buttons. Ubuntu release: 13.04 Raring Ringtail (just upgraded from 12.10 Quantal Quetzal) Alacarte version: 3.7.90-0ubuntu1~raring1 Purging and re-installing alacarte did not fix the issue. ** Affects: alacarte (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: gnome3 raring ** Attachment added: tracebacks of the Python Unicode errors https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1186523/+attachment/3691861/+files/alacarte-error.txt -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to alacarte in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1186523 Title: Unicode error when trying to tick or delete an unticked item To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alacarte/+bug/1186523/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

I just did a fresh install of Raring today on both my Desktop (64bit) and Laptop (32bit). I also installed all available updates on both. I can confirm that this is an issue in both and is extremely easy to reproduce. I tried to use dconf-editor to enable the Hidden Window option and it does nothing at all. [Bug 1115886] Re: Can't change wallpaper unless /org/gnome/desktop/background/show-desktop-icons is true.
The point is that by default, changing the wallpaper does work. You have to deliberately install a tweak tool and break it yourself in order for it to be broken. ** Changed in: gnome-settings-daemon (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed = Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-settings-daemon in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1115886 Title: Can't change wallpaper unless /org/gnome/desktop/background/show- desktop-icons is true. [Bug 1186666] [NEW] Unable to save mouse speed setting
Public bug reported: To reproduce: 1. Click on Gear button; select System Settings 2. Click on Mouse Touchpad. 3. Drag that indicator (I don't know what is it in English, sorry...) to the left end on the bar besides Pointer speed 4. Close the window. 5. Re-do step 1 and 2. Expected: The indicator is at the left end of bar as we just put it there. Actually: The indicator is at the same old position as if we didn't perform step 3.
