[Bug 1186523] [NEW] Unicode error when trying to tick or delete an unticked item

2013-06-01 Thread Marion Zepf
Public bug reported:

What I did:
I marked an unticked menu item in alacarte and clicked the checkbox to tick it.
The error also occurs when I mark it and click the 'delete' button.

What happened:
Nothing happens in alacarte. The blue background that marks the item as
selected disappears, as if it had lost the GUI focus. When I start alacarte
from the command line and try to reproduce the bug, I see tracebacks of Python
Unicode errors on the command line (see attached file).

What's strange:
When I mark an unticked item and click 'New separator', 'Move up', or 'Move
down', the item gets ticked again (in addition to the separator being inserted,
or the item being moved). This works most of the time, but not always.
The 'Properties' button works insofar as it brings up the correct dialog box,
but all entry fields are empty. This problem remains after the item has been
re-ticked by one of the 'New separator', 'Move up', and 'Move down' buttons.

Ubuntu release: 13.04 Raring Ringtail (just upgraded from 12.10 Quantal Quetzal)
Alacarte version: 3.7.90-0ubuntu1~raring1

Purging and re-installing alacarte did not fix the issue.

I got this error too on Ubuntu 13.04 (64bit) with an ethernet cable

work.

- Rhythmbox now uses gstreamer1.0
- Try installing 'gst123' package and playing an mp3 with it. Does that have a
problem as well?
- If gst123 works okay, and the problem is limited to rhythmbox, try to get a
backtrace from rhythmbox: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Backtrace

[Bug 1021375] Re: Nautilus says the USB stick is read only when it is not

2013-06-01 Thread MikeRich
This problem affects me on Ubuntu 13.04 64-bit, running nautilus 3.6.3 from
default repositories. This is a fresh install with all available updates
installed.
All USB drives show Error while copying to [name of drive]. The destination
is read-only.

Tested with three working USB sticks, all formatted FAT-32 via Gparted.
Able to use touch, cp, mv, mkdir via terminal with no problems. Simply
unable to create folders, drag files, or copy/paste files though
nautilus.

Here is the terminal output from running 'mount' with one of these USB
drives plugged in, after receiving error message. Note, USB is last disk
listed, /dev/sdh, mounted under /media/mike/SanDisk:

[Bug 1179180] Re: Impossible to open Empathy contact list window if already started with '-h' option

2013-06-01 Thread Monkey
I just did a fresh install of Raring today on both my Desktop (64bit)
and Laptop (32bit). I also installed all available updates on both. I
can confirm that this is an issue in both and is extremely easy to
reproduce. I tried to use dconf-editor to enable the Hidden Window
option and it does nothing at all. The only way to get Empathy to start
hidden is the use of one of the two command line options and both cause
you to lose access to the contact list permanently, even while
everything else runs fine in the background. I can receive messages
fine, for example. When I click on them, I can see the chat window and
respond like normal.

[Bug 1186633] [NEW] gedit find box background should turn red when text is not found

[Bug 1136644] Re: gedit search function is not practical anymore

2013-06-01 Thread Adam Dingle
As described in the gedit help at https://help.gnome.org/users/gedit/3.8
/gedit-search.html.en :

- You can press Enter to cancel a search and retain the current cursor
position. (This behavior is admittedly not consistent with other GNOME
applications; see https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=699658 for
a request to change this.)

- Right click the magnifying glass icon or the search text to get to
search options (match case, match whole world, wrap around).

I'm marking this bug as invalid because it mentions several different
issues, some of which were due to not understanding gedit's current
interface. Feel free to open up new bugs for individual specific
issues.

[Bug 1115886] Re: Can't change wallpaper unless /org/gnome/desktop/background/show-desktop-icons is true.

2013-06-01 Thread Robert Bruce Park
The point is that by default, changing the wallpaper does work. You have
to deliberately install a tweak tool and break it yourself in order for
it to be broken.

[Bug 1186666] [NEW] Unable to save mouse speed setting

2013-06-01 Thread Sah Lee
Public bug reported:

To reproduce:

1. Click on Gear button; select System Settings
2. Click on Mouse Touchpad.
3. Drag that indicator (I don't know what is it in English, sorry...) to the
left end on the bar besides Pointer speed
4. Close the window.
5. Re-do step 1 and 2.

Expected:

The indicator is at the left end of bar as we just put it there.

Actually:
The indicator is at the same old position as if we didn't perform step 3.
