[Bug 1637116] [NEW] all journalctl logs their "Log begin" decrease
Public bug reported: Every night we setup 3 ubuntu 16.04 environments and we test our software on it. This morning something weird caught my eye while debugging our software. On 1 of the 3 machines I tried to search logging of the day before but I could not find any. When I first looked at a journalctl unit log of process `x` (for example), I saw the logs started at: `-- Logs begin at Thu 2016-10-27 05:18:01 CEST, end at Thu 2016-10-27 10:22:37 CEST. --` I found this very weird because the logs should have started around `Wed 2016-10-26 22:00:00 CEST` After some time I looked again at the journalctl unit log of process `x` but this time the logs started @: `-- Logs begin at Thu 2016-10-27 06:04:31 CEST, end at Thu 2016-10-27 10:29:31 CEST. --` I've checked if the nodes were rebooted, ntp was misconfigured or maybe the disk was full but I could not find anything. This affects the whole system, so its not a certain process in particular. ** Affects: systemd (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: journalctl ** Description changed: - Every night we setup 3 ubuntu 16.04 environments are perform some testing on it. + Every night we setup 3 ubuntu 16.04 environments and we test our software on it. [Bug 1620806] Re: gedit edit window is transparent when using Ambiance and Radiance themes
I can confirm this bug on the calculator with the transparent box, this is making the gnome calculator useless. I upgraded from Ununtu 16.04 to 16.10. I have been upgrading this laptop from 14.04 and also run the standard themes, might played with themes in the past though. My laptop has a amd radeon card. [Bug 1626935] Re: [yakkety] desktop is black and/or flickering after plugging in a second monitor
** Description changed: + [ Description ] + + Nautilus's wallpaper drawing doesn't respond to changes in monitor + configuration. Instead of your wallpaper you see black. + + [ Fix ] + + Inside nautilus, the wallpaper widget connects to GTK's "monitors- + changed" signal when it is constructed. It does this only once the + widget is realized - a "realized" signal handler connects to "monitors- + changed". In Yakkety, the "realized" signal handler is connected after + the widget is already realized, meaning that the signal handler isn't + called and we don't connect to the "monitors-changed" signal. + + The proposed fix remedies this by checking if we are realized and + explicitly calling the signal handler if so. + + [ QA ] + + Have multiple monitors. Have only one of them connected. Log in. Plug in + one monitor. If it's autoactivated, check you see your background on + both monitors. If not, activate it ("Displays") and do the same. + + [ Regression potential ] + + I'm not sure why or where the order changed to make the widget be + realized earlier, if it matters or if this was always buggy and we got + lucky. I would guess a refactoring in Nautilus itself, and so the + proposed fix is safe, but watch out for other weirdness. + + [ Original description ] + Using 16.04 daily image: 20160919(downloading date) With testing package for 4.8 kernel: ppa:canonical-kernel-team/unstable Graphic chips: 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: Intel Corporation HD Graphics 530 [8086:191b] (rev 06) 01:00.0 3D controller [0302]: NVIDIA Corporation GM107M [GeForce GTX 960M] [10de:139b] (rev ff) Desktop wallpaper on extended display shows black background only, and the hdmi detection is very unstable. [Bug 1547770] Re: Vinagre / Remote Desktop Viewer won't exit full screen when launched from command line
Hello, I have the same bug. I noticed that when I hover around the top of the screen, my mouse changes shape (I use VNC to connect to my Raspberry Pi). To be precise - when in "captured" mode where I can click around my raspberry it is in shape of a cross, while when hovering over a middle it changes to normal arrow I use on my Xubuntu. I assumed that arrow shape indicates that I am hovering over window controls so I started clicking at random. It turns out that there are buttons, and that exit full screen is the first button from left. They just are not showing. [Bug 1636912] Re: systemd-networkd runs too late for cloud-init.service (net)
The "networkd after D-Bus" ordering was introduced in https://github.com/systemd/systemd/commit/1346b1f038 and later refined in https://github.com/systemd/systemd/commit/bcbca8291f . So with the latter, removing this ordering would break the "UseHostname: yes" flag (when you receive/set your host name from what DHCP gives you), i. e. it would silently not work. We don't use that feature in the distro itself, but it would be a shame to break it for everyone even when cloud-init is not involved at all. So this at least gives us a quick way out for 16.04 -- we can simply drop the "After=dbus.service" from systemd-networkd.service without much trouble, but for devel I'd at least discuss this with upstream. ** Also affects: cloud-init (Ubuntu Xenial) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: systemd (Ubuntu Xenial) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Changed in: systemd (Ubuntu) Importance: High => Medium ** Changed in: systemd (Ubuntu Xenial) Importance: Undecided => High ** Changed in: systemd (Ubuntu Xenial) Status: New => Triaged ** Changed in: cloud-init (Ubuntu) Assignee: Martin Pitt (pitti) => (unassigned) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to systemd in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1636912 Title: systemd-networkd runs too late for cloud-init.service (net) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cloud-init/+bug/1636912/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 877279] Re: EOG - Image viewer hangs system when opening large image file
Mine will open large graphics zoomed out. When I try to zoom in on them, however, that is when it jams on me. And it really jams. Sometimes I have to unplug the computer just to clear it. This seems to be a fairly new problem on my computer. I used Image viewer for ages with no problem. I'm pretty sure some stupid update is responsible. I guess I will have to make Gimp the default view. [Bug 1637333] [NEW] gnome-terminal crashes when tab is dragged onto another tab's terminal area
Public bug reported: This bug occurs when I drag an existing terminal tab out of the tab bar and drop it onto the text area of the open terminal. Usually occurs by accident, to be honest (when I don't mean to drag the tab at all, for instance) but it's 100% reproducible intentionally. I found several old bug reports on similar issues, but they were either not detailed enough to figure out if they were exactly the same or were closed as duplicates of a bug that no longer exists (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-terminal/+bug/1442826). Apport generated a report (title: gnome-terminal-server crashed with SIGABRT in g_assertion_message()) for me and then helpfully explained that the bug had already been filed. It redirected me to a bug that doesn't exist (https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1595907) though, so I'm refiling it here. 1. [Bug 1588150] Re: Remove webkitgtk from archive
liferea has a RC now that was ported to webkit2gtk. Unfortunately, it regresses Unity support, see bug 1637385 for more info. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to empathy in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1588150 Title: Remove webkitgtk from archive To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/bijiben/+bug/1588150/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 1637369] [NEW] Can no longer paste a file in nautilus without keyboard
Public bug reported: In file list mode, nautilus used to either have a paste option in the titlebar menu or via a menu that could be opened from a "cog" symbol at the right-hand top of its window (and for a while, via the right-click menu if you right-clicked on whitespace instead of a file name). But the only non-keyboard option I can find in nautilus 1:3.20.3-1ubuntu3.1 now is the right-click menu, but this is not available when the nautilus window is full of filenames (as in the attached screenshot), so pasting is impossible without the keyboard in this case. What happened to the "cog" menu? IIRC correctly this was present until quite recently. [Bug 221363] Re: Policy Kit Unlock Buttons Greyed Out when using NX / VNC / LTSP
I've just installed 16.04LTS and confirmed this problem still exists. And there's no org.freedesktop.SystemToolsBackends.policy in /usr/share/polkit-1/actions. I tried to find related policy, but I couldn't. Is there any workaround to fix this with polkit settings like https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/policykit/+bug/221363/comments/58 ?
