[Bug 1711728] [NEW] many applications are missing

2017-08-18 Thread Christophe C
Public bug reported:

Many applications, even populars, are missing : conky, plank ...
They are in the default repository.

Probably because of missing appstream descriptions (?)

People who don't use command lines are unable to access to thses
applications.

[Bug 1711728] Re: many applications are missing

2017-08-18 Thread Jeremy Bicha
Please file individual bugs against those apps and add the tag
'appstream'. If you can find the upstream bug tracker for a specific
app, it would probably be useful to file a bug there too.

I'm closing this bug because it's not specific enough to be fixed.

[Bug 1576341] Re: systemd in degraded state on startup in LXD containers

2017-08-18 Thread Mathew Hodson
open-iscsi (2.0.874-4ubuntu1) artful; urgency=medium

  * Merge with Debian unstable. Remaining changes:
- debian/tests: Add Ubuntu autopkgtests.
- debian/iscsi-network-interface.rules, debian/net-interface-handler,
  debian/open-iscsi.install:
Prevent network interface that contains iscsi root from bouncing
during boot or going down during shutdown.
Integrates with resolvconf and initramfs code that writes
  /run/initramfs/open-iscsi.interface
- debian/open-iscsi.maintscript: clean up the obsolete
iscsi-network-interface upstart job, file on upgrade.
- Let iscsid systemd job run in privileged containers but not in
  unprivileged ones
- Start open-iscsi systemd job when either /etc/iscsi/nodes or
  /sys/class/iscsi_session have content
Based on patch by Nish Aravamudan, thanks! (LP #1576341)
- add IPv6 support
  + add support for IPV6{DOMAINSEARCH,DNS0,DNS1} to net-interface-handler
LP #1621507
  + Source /run/net6-*.conf when needed.
  + debian/extra/initramfs.local-top: handle IPv6 configs being
shipped in DEVICE6 or /run/net6-*.conf in the initramfs, so we
can fill in /run/initramfs/open-iscsi.interface (LP #1621507)
  * Drop:
- d/extra/initramfs.local-top: When booting from iBFT,
set the PROTO= entry in /run/net-*.conf accordingly,
so that other tools, such as cloud-init, can use that
information. (cloud-init fails if the current PROTO=none
is used.) (LP: #1684039) (Closes: #866213)
  [ Fixed in Debian 2.0.874-4 ]
  * d/t/test-open-iscsi.py: drop test_daemon test
- With the updates to the systemd units, the services do not run
  unless iSCSI is configured.

[Bug 1711752] [NEW] Some right click items are untranslated

2017-08-18 Thread AsciiWolf
Public bug reported:

When clicking the icons of Terminal, Nautilus etc., some things are
being shown as the untranslated (English) strings even though they are
translated upstream (GNOME). For example the "New Terminal" for GNOME
Terminal, that is correctly translated (in Czech localization) as "Nový
terminál" in GNOME panel, but untranslated when clicking the GNOME
Terminal icon in the ubuntu-dock extension. Another example is the "New
Window" item in Nautilus. See the attached screenshots.

[Bug 1711534] [NEW] Application list cluttered on a fresh Artful installation

2017-08-18 Thread Exalm
Public bug reported:

GNOME Shell application list contains many rarely-used and sometimes
redundant app icons like:

* 3 different icons for fcitx
* 2 icons for OnBoard (OnBoard settings are accessible from OnBoard itself)
* ImageMagick (Most probably rarely used, especially when there's also EOG)
* Language Support, Input Method (There's a language panel in
gnome-control-center, so this looks like a unity-control-center leftover)

Because of that, the application list is 3 pages long, making other apps
unnecessarily hard to find.

One way to solve that would be to pack rarely-used, but still useful
stuff into GNOME's Sundry app folder. Completely redundant icons can
probably be just removed.

[Bug 1133477] Re: [SRU] cut-n-paste move files got stuck forever

2017-08-18 Thread Etienne Papegnies
Ubuntu MATE 16.04.3

Reproduced the issue in caja using the test case described by tsimonq2.
Installed gvfs/1.28.2-1ubuntu1~16.04.2 (gvfs/xenial-proposed)
Ran killall caja to reload caja and its components.
Attempted to reproduce the bug after reload: could not reproduce the bug.

The proposed package fixes the bug.

[Bug 1710386] Re: USB drives automount even when automount:false is set

2017-08-18 Thread Marc Deslauriers
Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but this appears
to be a "regular" (non-security) bug. I have unmarked it as a security
issue since this bug does not show evidence of allowing attackers to
cross privilege boundaries nor directly cause loss of data/privacy.
Please feel free to report any other bugs you may find.

[Bug 1711657] [NEW] Add a vertical mark/line at shell's sound slider which indicates where 100% of volume is, when the option "allow louder than 100%" is enabled at settings

2017-08-18 Thread Thanos Apostolou
Public bug reported:

This is about the new changes about sound in Artful, where the volume
slider is able to get higher than 100% (when the option is enabled at
settings). Add a vertical mark/line at shell's sound slider which
indicates where 100% of volume is, when the option "allow louder than
100%" is enabled at settings. This will allow users to know, easily, if
their sound quality is reduced (over 100%) or not. Originally, this was
mentioned as a comment on this blog: https://didrocks.fr/2017/08/16

Re: [Bug 1710386] Re: USB drives automount even when automount:false is set

Hi Marc:

This is a security bug, because I cannot examine the state of a
potentially malware-laden USB stick without Ubuntu automatically
mounting it.

Haven't you ever heard of the "BADUSB" exploit, where a malware-laden
USB device first claims to be one type of (innocuous) device, and then
later claims to be -- e.g., a mountable volume of some sort.

Confirming that Simon Quigley's packages here:
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gvfs/1.28.2-1ubuntu1~16.04.2

Resolve the issue (using the 1024 file transfer method described in the
OP).
