[Bug 1901631] [NEW] flameshot, yubico authenticator app indicator icons missing on login
Public bug reported: This problem seems to come and go. It was gone in Ubuntu 20.04 and it's back in Ubuntu 20.10. I have both Flameshot and Yubico Authenticator configured to launch on login. [Bug 1824260] Re: wrong kerning in SS-5 PDF form fields
CourierStd is not defined in any of the config files at `/etc/fonts/conf.d`, so it falls back to sans-serif, not monospace. On my computer, the sans-serif fallback is set to Ubuntu. In config files at `/etc/fonts/conf.d`, creating duplicate rules for "CourierStd" each time "Courier" or "Courier New" is mentioned should fix the problem. On my computer, `grep -Rl Courier` lists the following files: 30-metric-aliases.conf 45-latin.conf 60-latin.conf Using `apt-file search`, the package those files belong to is `fontconfig-config`. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to poppler in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1824260 Title: wrong kerning in SS-5 PDF form fields To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/poppler/+bug/1824260/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1824260] Re: wrong kerning in SS-5 PDF form fields
Right xiota, and I think adding CourierStd to 45-latin.conf is sufficient. I could reproduce the problem on Ubuntu 20.10, so it's not a Kubuntu specific issue as I first suspected. [Bug 1901150] Re: No "Are you sure?" question when deleting something from Desktop
I think most of us agree it was an undesirable change. It was made by the upstream developers a couple of years ago now. The reasoning is detailed in https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/nautilus/-/issues/158 We can't just reintroduce nautilus-desktop either. The change was huge, a long time ago (so can't just be reversed) and there's nobody to support it. [Bug 1901150] Re: No "Are you sure?" question when deleting something from Desktop
Adam Niedling: That's a long story. Very briefly, about 2 years ago the GNOME project, which develops Nautilus, decided to remove support for desktop icons from Nautilus, controversially: https://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/2018/01/gnome-desktop-icons-removed-3-28 Ubuntu still wants desktop icons, so it needs to implement them in some other way, and so it uses the Desktop Icons shell extension. As Paddy mentioned above, there is a newer version of Desktop Icons called Desktop Icons NG, which is under active development: https://gitlab.com/rastersoft/desktop-icons-ng I myself run Desktop Icons NG too. It is still a long way from having all the functionality of Nautilus, but it is slowly getting better. I also hope that Ubuntu will switch to Desktop Icons NG sooner or later. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-shell-extension-desktop-icons in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1901150 Title: No "Are you sure?" question when deleting something from Desktop To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/gnome-shell-extension-desktop-icons/+bug/1901150/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1901187] Re: Keyboard layout switch problem
Reproducible on desktop system (Lenovo Thinkstation S30) with Ubuntu 20.04.1 LTS with Gnome Shell 3.36.4-1ubuntu1~20.04.2. Steps: log in, physically unplug USB keyboard, plug it again. Keyboard switchers show the switching happens, but layout is not changing actually. It's also reproducible on Thinkpad X230 with exactly the same package versions. That would be great if I could enable and disable those features with dconf-editor or something similar (even with a simple conf file(s)). What I talked about is interactions between window and screen edges/bounds themselves. When I drag a window it sticks to another window edge until I've moved my cursor further away (like ~20 pixels) only then the window releases and continues to be dragged by the mouse. Or another example: when I want to place the half of my window outside the screen I start dragging it and when the edge of the window hits the edge of the screen it stops even I continue dragging, after ~20 pixel away the window releases and continues following my cursor. The option "edge-tiling" provides interaction only between window and screen bounds with resizing and tiling them. I often want to put windows in the upper-right corner of my monitor, and it would be nice if I could press a key to not have it title/tile the window. I don't *always* want this, so disabling tiling feature entirely isn't a good option for me. Maybe we could make it an opt-in/opt-out sort of toggle, with the default state being that windows wile tile unless a certain key is pressed? The setting could toggle whether that key press turns the feature temporarily on or off. [Bug 1901538] [NEW] Output Device selection messed (Line Out <-> HDMI)
Public bug reported: [System] - Freshly installed Ubuntu 20.04.1 LTS with 3rd party software/drivers enabled - pulseaudio 1:13.99.1-1ubuntu3.7 - NVIDIA graphics card (GeForce GTX 650 Ti Boost) using nvidia-driver-450 - Monitor with build-in (stereo) speakers connected via HDMI to graphics card - External (stereo) speakers connected via audio jack to mainboard [Expected Behavior] 1. Go to "Settings" -> "Sound" -> "Output" -> "Output Device" 2. Switch from "HDMI / DisplayPort 2 - GK106 HDMI Audio Controller" to "Line Out - Built-in Audio" 3. The switching should enable the chosen output device. [Bug Description and Behavior] If I switch from "HDMI / DisplayPort 2 - GK106 HDMI Audio Controller" to "Line Out - Built-in Audio" and test the output, sound comes still from monitor speakers and not from my external speakers. [Workaround] While "HDMI / DisplayPort 2 - GK106 HDMI Audio Controller" selected, go to "Configuration" and switch from "Digital Stereo (HDMI 2) Output" to "Digital Surround 5.1 (HDMI 2) Output". Instantly "Configuration" row disappears, in Output Device "Line Out - Built-in Audio" is selected and external speakers are active. [Further comments] I'm affected by this bug and the "wrong audio output on every reboot/wake up/login" since upgrade to 20.04 but the latter may be worth another bug report or maybe you could guide me to an active bug report that isn't linked to a previous Ubuntu version and already marked as fixed. [Bug 1779890] Re: Nautilus does not use a valid Kerberos ticket when accessing Samba share
The upstream determined that gvfsd as a systemd user session is starting too early in Ubuntu, before the desktop enviroment variables are set. Specifically, KRB5CCNAME env var is missing at the time gvfsd is started, causing this bug. See the detailed report at ttps://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gvfs/-/issues/481 CentOS 8 and Fedora 32 apparently fixed this problem by changing the default preset mechanism for user units, aligning them with the default preset for system units: https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Changes/Systemd_presets_for_user_units Indeed, there is no good reason to treat user services differently than system services with respect to the default presets. [Bug 1901446] Re: Add gir1.2-tepl-5 package depedency
I would argue that this is more a bug than a wishlist item. Functionality is being moved from gedit into tepl (a "Text editor product line" library). For instance, gedit_utils_str_middle_truncate() was deprecated in gedit 3.36 and removed in 3.38[1], replaced with tepl_utils_str_middle_truncate(). For my plugin Control Your Tabs, I had to inline the function[2] because I couldn't count on users (on Debian and Debian-derived OSes) having gir1.2-tepl-5 installed so that I could call tepl_utils_str_middle_truncate(). (Contrast this with the Fedora tepl rpm, which has the GObject introspection binding included in the same package[3] and so does not have this problem.) Should I file an issue upstream (Debian)? Would submitting a patch help?
