[Bug 21668] Re: evolution won't clear its cache

2007-08-03 Thread David Planella
@ Pedro Villavicencio:

Same comment as on the other Evo bug (90258).

why was the status of this bug, which has also been confirmed upstream,
been changed from Confirmed to Triaged without a comment?

Maybe I'm interpreting wrongly what Triaged means, but I do not see a
reason to change its status when it has been confirmed already.

[Bug 60341] Re: gnome-terminal window loses title

2007-02-05 Thread David Planella
It seems that this bug is easily reproduceable in Feisty after a new
installation (i.e. no ~/.bashrc) with and a non-customized vim (i.e. no
~/.vimrc, no plugins, just a default install).

Steps to reproduce:

1.- Start gnome-terminal.

2.- Execute vim.

3.- Exit vim.

4.- The gnome-terminal title is forever set to Untitled window

One thing I noticed as well is that the gnome-terminal window title on
my Feisty installation does not get updated with the current directory
but it always remains as Terminal.

[Bug 83327] USB stick gets mounted as USB Flash Disk Music Player

2007-02-05 Thread David Planella
Public bug reported:

Using an up-to-date Feisty installation, after inserting my usb memory
stick, it gets mounted with an iPod icon and Rhythmbox is automatically
started, showing the disk as USB Flash Disk Music Player.

The usb stick does not even happen to have any music files on it, only
text documents, and it mounts fine (as a generic data usb storage
device) in Edgy.

2007-02-08 Thread David Planella
don't see this in edgy (and probably in feisty). Can someone who

This is indeed still happening with 2.0.0.1 in Edgy.

[Bug 91734] The Epilicious extension is now part of Epiphany, yet it is not built by default

2007-03-12 Thread David Planella
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: epiphany-extensions

According to this bug http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=352082
and this blog post http://therning.org/magnus/archives/252 the
Epilicious extension is now included in Gnome's SVN and has also become
part of Epiphany.

However, this extension is not built by default in the Epiphany Ubuntu
Feisty package. I decided to submit this bug after a short conversation
with an upstream developer on IRC:

mar 11 16:13:03 dpm I was reading this:
http://therning.org/magnus/archives/252, which mentions that the epilicious
extension is now official. Is that to be expected to be in gnome 2.18 or 2.20?
mar 11 16:14:29 reinouts dpm: yes and no... Epiphany-extensions is not
officially part of GNOME
mar 11 16:14:40 reinouts but in 2.17.92, epilicious is included
mar 11 16:14:48 reinouts in epiphany-extensions 2.17.92, I mean
mar 11 16:14:56 reinouts so it will be in 2.18.0
mar 11 16:15:17 reinouts but beware, your distro packager might not know
to update his list of extensions-to-build
mar 11 16:15:23 dpm I see...
mar 11 16:15:33 reinouts I fixed it for mandriva but...
mar 11 16:16:19 dpm In ubuntu's epiphany-extensions 2.17.92 does not seem
to have been built... :(
mar 11 16:16:45 reinouts dpm: file a bug, friendly kick their packager...

2007-07-10 Thread David Planella
Regarding John Vivirito's comment #17, I can still reproduce it in
Feisty. I haven't got a Gutsy installation to test it.

Apparently someone has created a patch for this. It is available at
http://cgwalters.livejournal.com/4062.html. It might be worth having a
look at it. The blog entry is quite interesting. It mentions
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=223492, the upstream bug
that seems to be causing this.

[Bug 358941] [NEW] 100% CPU usage when using an LDAP directory addressbook and activating Autocompletion

2009-04-10 Thread David Planella
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

When using evolution with an addressbook configured to access an LDAP
directory, the evolution-data-server-2.24 process will use 100% CPU at
random times.

Once started using 100% of the CPU, it will stay this way, even when
quitting Evolution through the menus. The only way to stop the CPU usage
is to use the following command:

evolution --force-shutdown

However, when starting Evolution again, the problem occurs exactly in
the same way again.

A workaround is to disable Autocompletion for the particular LDAP
addressbook under EditPreferencesAutocompletion.

Hi August,

In bug reports, we concentrate on fixing problems. While your input is
appreciated, it does not provide any insight on how to fix the bug and
might be better suited to a forum.

The testing scenario to reproduce this bug was not as trivial as you
were describing, and the bug was discovered early enough in the process
and reported. If it hasn't been fixed until now it's because the
solution is not trivial, either, but as you can see there has been
already very productive discussion towards a proper fix.

If you'd like to join that discussion, or help testing, please feel free

days after the language pack deadline, thus it didn't make it to the
final language packs:

https://translations.edge.launchpad.net/ubuntu/maverick/+source/nautilus/+pots/nautilus/en_GB/+translate?batch=10show=allsearch=open+the+wastebasket

The fix should be visible in the next language pack updates in a couple
of weeks.

I've attached a text file with other places where Wastebasket is still
present in the system. You might want to change those too. You can find
the strings in Launchpad using the same URL pattern as above. Here it
is:

https://translations.launchpad.net/ubuntu/maverick/+source/$SOURCEPACKAGE/+pots/$TEMPLATE/en_GB/+translate?batch=10show=allsearch=open+the+wastebasket

Often $SOURCEPACKAGE and $TEMPLATE are the same. If not, you can go to
the source package translations page, look at the templates and simply
click on them to go there.

Note that some will be false positives and will already have been fixed,
like the ones in Nautilus.

I hope this helps.

[Bug 621633] Re: Keyboard indicator does not update the current layout in its menu when switching through a keyboard shortcut

2010-11-11 Thread David Planella
In order for this not to fall off the radar, I think it might be useful
to either mark it as a duplicate of the existing libindicator bug if
there is any, or to add a libindicator task.

In my case, the bug is only partly solved: most of the time switching
works well, but in some occasions I can still reproduce it with the same
test case as on the original description.

Actually, I've just found another way of reproducing it: hold the key
assigned to the keyboard switch for a couple of seconds, so that the
indicator switches frantically between layouts for a while. After that,
the panel indicator and the menu entry in the indicator will be out of
sync.

[Bug 659051] Re: Evince missing translation for save current settings as default

2011-03-15 Thread David Planella
Is this bug still present?

We should investigate why this happened (is the package not generating a
.pot file perhaps?), but one thing we can do in the meantime is to
manually upload the upstream POT template and with a bit of luck the
strings will be shipped in next week's Maverick language pack update.

[Bug 763042] Re: Personal File Sharing Preferences dialog shows untranslated because gnome-user-share.mo is missing

2011-04-17 Thread David Planella
Yes, it's exactly as Gabor said. seb128 noticed that it needed to be
reuploaded for translations to be delivered in language packs and we
talked about it last week. The package was then uploaded stripping
translations as any other translatable app in main, and the translations
will then be delivered in the next language pack.

I'll mark it thus as Invalid, but feel free to reopen it if after the
next language packs it is still missing.

[Bug 753311] Re: In Portuguese language, Keyboard shortcut's information text has large gap between each word

2011-04-17 Thread David Planella
This is due to the text being justified in that particular label. Since
the next word is relatively long ('correspondente') does not fit in the
first line, the space needs to be filled with extra spaces.

This can be only but worked around in the translation: reword the
translation so it gets better arranged in a justified text. Subscribing
the Brazilian translators to have a look at it.

[Bug 704409] [NEW] Fallback message for no 3D video chipset needs improvements for translations

2011-01-18 Thread David Planella
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-session

Ubuntu adds the 02_add_ubuntu_session.patch to the GNOME session. That
patch contains a .desktop file (see attachment) with the fallback
message shown if a video chipset without 3D support is detected, in
which case we fall back to the 2D session.

The file needs some improvements to be translation-friendly:

* It's got an initial ; as a delimiter mark. This might confuse translators.
If there is no other way to do this, at least a translator comment should be
used (in case intltool supports comments in .desktop files)
* The line break is not escaped, and it appears as a textual \n in extracted
message for translation.

We'd appreciate any ideas on how to fix those. Thanks!

[Bug 451673] Re: Untranslated Yelp main page (Ubuntu Help Center)

2011-02-28 Thread David Planella
A quick update regarding the status in Natty:

We're now using Yelp 3, which has not yet got an Ubuntu Help Center
front page and it's a different codebase (using Mallard). I started a
related discussion on the ubuntu-doc mailing list a few days ago [1],
and Shaun McCance explained in detail the alternatives for Ubuntu to
have it's own main help document on [2] and [3].

In any case, the present bug refers to Yelp 2. I think we should open a
new bug specific to the Ubuntu Natty documentation with Yelp 3, which
will require a different set of actions to solve than the current bug.

2011-03-01 Thread David Planella
Matthew provides some more insight on this here [1].

Quoting:

I think this is the issue - gnome-user-docs needs to be updated with
the current upstream material to provide these files, and it hasn't
been uploaded yet this release.

That also depends upon how we deal with the other issues that have
been raised in this thread.

Adding a task for nvidia, as it seems to happen only when using that

@Victor after speaking with tedg in august he had assured me that it was
in libindicator but didn't give me a bug number :/ I am certain however
that the bug can't be in gsd because I tried nuking the error in a
variety of ways which all led to either the error going in the opposite
direction off by one or not changing at all. I'll discuss this bug with
tedg again on monday and see if we can figure it out.

Karl,

Have you had the chance to talk to Ted about this and add a task with
the libindicator bug?

If not, do you think we could at least reopen the bug against g-s-d or
open a new task agains libindicator in the meantime ? It has been
confirmed already, and right now it remaining as Invalid does not make
it easier to track.

Thanks!

Regards,
David.

Note that if we're talking about Unity in Natty, I believe that this
simply because the Trash icon is either not translatable or not yet
translated (Natty translations are not yet open, and the first language
packs will be released around Alpha 1)

[Bug 408474] Re: Language variants information missing in the language selection list

2010-12-13 Thread David Planella
The bug is present as reported in Karmic, Lucid, Maverick and Natty.

As such, I'd suggest unmarking it as Invalid, but I'll leave the
decision to the bugsquad

+ The Yelp main page (System-Help and support) is shown untranslated.

- Using yelp 2.28.0-0ubuntu1.

Re: [Bug 451673] Re: Untranslated Yelp main page (Ubuntu Help Center)

2010-12-16 Thread David Planella
El dj 16 de 12 de 2010 a les 16:59 +, en/na Kyle Nitzsche va
escriure:
David P. Thank you for providing the translations.

I used them in a project as follows:

I created a patch that essentially is those translations dropped in the
 po directory.

There is one issue: Assistive Tools is not in any po file or the pot,
and I was not immediately sure how to update them from source. (Indeed
there source references are to files that don't exists (such as
data/toc.xml.in.h) and must be generated. However, I needed that string
translated for zh_CN and so I manually added it to the po file with a
translation provided by a colleague. This is most certainly not
 absolutely correct).

I believe that particular string is Ubuntu-specific and comes from
somewhere else (gnome-user-docs or ubuntu-docs?), so you might need to
pull the translations from there. Have a look at the existing patches in
the package, I thought they'd be there already.

You might want to ask seb128 for the details, IIRC he's been doing the
yelp translation updates in the past.

 Attached find the patch.

On a side note, I found that if install-info package is not installed,
yelp fails to launch the Ubuntu Help Center - it terminates with
segfault. I thus added install-info as a depends to my version, but this
is not in the patch, naturally, since it is in debian/control.
