Title:
Horizontal scrolling on Thinkpad USB Keyboard with Trackpoint

Status in xserver-xorg-input-evdev package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
I have a Lenovo ThinkPad Compact USB Keyboard with TrackPoint - this
is an external USB keyboard with integrated TrackPoint that is based
on the keyboard from the Thinkpad X230/T430/T530.

  Lenovo part number is: 0B47190

Vertical scrolling works fine out of the box on Ubuntu 14.04 (fully
updated), but horizontal scrolling does not work.

I have it connected to a Thinkpad X200, also with integrated
  Trackpoint, where horizontal works fine.

If I run xev, vertical scrolling up / down outputs button 4 / 5 as
expected, but horizontal scroll has no output.

I have an open thread about it here:
  http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2270926

Here is an Amazon reviewer on Archlinux (likely more knowledgeable than me)
with the same issue:

http://www.amazon.com/review/R2Z5HAU91QRW7S/ref=cm_cr_dp_cmt?ie=UTF8ASIN=B00F3U4TQSnodeID=541966store=pc

On a Windows machine horizontal scroll worked fine using the same
  device.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1441940] [NEW] Chromium keyring save fail loops until memory exhausted and crashes

2015-04-08 Thread Jonathan Brier
Public bug reported:

This is collected on 15.04, but also occurred in 14.10 on the same
laptop and another AMD custom built desktop. The browsers have three
users signed in, but only one active window open and one blank tab.
Removing the extensions seemed to have zero impact on the crash. This
stall then crash behaviour makes Chromium and Chrome unusable as the
program is killed within a few minutes of starting.

The following is the terminal output of just launching chromium-browser
and letting it sit. The same behaviour also occurs with Google-Chrome
as well and does not disappear if the packages are installed and
reinstalled. The observed behaviour is upon launch the system loads as
expected while watching the system ram allocation the RAM grows then
plateaus then while sitting there the window will gray and be non
responsive. Then resume to a regular colour while the RAM will grow
until the system memory is exhausted.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1441193] Re: Login screen crashes after HDMI cable is plugged in, resumed from suspend

Title:
Login screen crashes after HDMI cable is plugged in, resumed from
  suspend

Status in unity-greeter package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
I have a laptop that I connect to an external monitor. After I open
the lid and hit a button to wake the computer I will connect the HDMI
cable for the monitor. After plugging in the HDMI, the login screen
freezes intermittently so I can't type in my password. The mouse is
missing and unresponsive and the keyboard doesn't type anything.

To fix this I press Ctrl-Alt-F1 and log into the terminal. I then use
the command sudo service lightdm restart to restart the window
manager. This fixes the login issue, however it also closes all of the
open applications that I had on suspend, which is not desirable.

Sometimes, after typing in my password once I've restarted lightdm,
the display will get locked into a weird refresh state, where the
user session doesn't start and the screen is stuck with no window
manager, no dash, and the background is partially on both screens.

If the computer gets into this weird display mode then the only fix is
to reboot. I would like to be able to plug in the HDMI from a sleep
and be assured that the computer can recover the running session
without crashing the login screen or the display manager.

  Repro steps:

  - Close laptop lid to put it to sleep
  - Connect HDMI cable
  - Open lid and press button (optionally, open lid then connect cable)

  Graphics:

  - Intel HD 4000

  Computer:

  - Lenovo Yoga Pro 2

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 554935] Re: fontconfig corrupted fonts

2015-04-08 Thread john fisher
After I posted I found another workaround, maybe worth 98%. I was able
to turn hinting back on. There is still an underlying bug.

add or edit xorg.conf as follows
Section Device
   Identifier Intel Graphics
   Driver intel
   Option AccelMethod uxa
EndSection

Title:
  fontconfig corrupted fonts

Status in fontconfig package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: fontconfig

This was initially reported as a KDE bug, but it was later determined to be a
fontconfig bug.
See - https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=233187 for origional bug report
  Fontconfig version :2.8.0

The Antialiasing settings in System Settings- Appearance - Fonts
can cause font corruption, depending on the settings.

It occurs randomly, only for that particular character on that screen.
By character, I mean that for example, all Ys that are in the application
are
  corrupted.

This occurs if the antialiasing settings are set to enbled and with the
  following combinations of settings

SubPixel Rendering: RGB | Hinting Style: None
SubPixel Rendering: RGB | Hinting Style: Slight
SubPixel Rendering: RGB | Hinting Style: Medium
SubPixel Rendering: RGB | Hinting Style: Full
SubPixel Rendering: Disabled | Hinting Style: Medium
SubPixel Rendering: Disabled | Hinting Style: Full

  and does not occur with

SubPixel Rendering: Disabled | Hinting Style: None
SubPixel Rendering: Disabled | Hinting Style: Slight

Ive taken a screenshot, so please take a look -
  http://img52.imageshack.us/img52/7463/snapshot1x.png

  This occurs only in Lucid

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1440602] Re: Graphics corruption after suspend/resume cycle

2015-04-08 Thread Furkan Alaca
Just some further testing: The checkerboarding doesn't occur when the
screens are aligned at the top (in other words, when y=0 for both
monitors in .config/monitors.xml)

Title:
  Graphics corruption after suspend/resume cycle

Status in xserver-xorg-video-ati package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
I have observed two forms of graphics corruption after a
  suspend/resume cycle:

  1) Checkerboard artifacts in approximately the top 1/8 to 1/4 of the
screen. This can be observed from the following video, where I am
highlighting global menu entries with the mouse:
  https://www.dropbox.com/s/ez2v03oetppecgx/VID_20150324_020612.mp4?dl=0

A similar effect can also be observed while dragging windows around
near the top of the screen.

  2) The virtual terminals no longer take up the full screen area, and
are surrounded by a pattern which appears similar to noise or snow
on old TVs. Here's how it appears on my screen:
  https://www.dropbox.com/s/7hj8qi3w3qc35jb/IMG_20150405_155434.jpg?dl=0

While these two issues seem quite unrelated, they both seem to happen
_only_ after a suspend/resume cycle, so the underlying issue might be
  related between them.

  Relevant hardware details:
-Video card: Radeon R7 260X (w/ the radeonsi driver)
  -Main display resolution: 2560x1440
-Secondary display resolution: 1200x1920 (portrait mode)
