Looking at the upstream bug, some users seem to get this working with
gsettings set org.gnome.settings-daemon.plugins.xrandr default-monitors-
setup do-nothing, which is the fix released for Elementary OS. Those
still affected, could you confirm if this helps?

  (Noticed on Ubuntu 14.04 beta 1 GNOME)
  At work I have a second screen, which I prefer to virtually put on the left 
side of my laptop screen.
  Using gnome-control-center I can change the position of the second without 
problem.
  But when I disconnect the second screen (to work on another place) and then 
connect it again
  OR if I just power off the laptop and turn it on again,
  the second screen position is set back to the default right position.

Bug description:
  [Impact] Google calendar integration is broken, and users are
  requested to re-enter their Google password everytime they log in, or
  everytime they enable/disable their Google account from the System
  Settings.

  [Test Case]
  1) open gnome-online-accounts
  2) click + and add a google account
  3) enter user name and password
  4) confirm permissions for gnome
  5) Black window pops up and asks for google password, but does not accept the 
correct password.
  Google Contacts are not available in Gnome or Thunderbird

  [Regression Potential] Minimal: the fix is a backport of a patch from
  the evolution-data-server code which is already in 14.10, and which
  only touches the calendar code (which is currently broken).


  

  Gnome online accounts requires autentication on startup, but even typing the 
correct password in the box, the program says the password is wrong. By the way 
evolution and other programs work well with online accounts. I'm using 
Ubuntu-gnome 14.04 LTS 64bit on different machines and have the same behaviour.
  Just to be clear: online-accounts works well, just at startup it opens an 
"administration" window where it requires to insert the password for my google 
accounts; if I type the correct password it says that the password is wrong, 
the only way to close the window is to click on "discard" and then all works 
well.

  My computer freezes randomly a couple of times a day. Sometimes I can log in 
using ssh from another computer, do a shutdown -r, but that then hangs also. 
  What I've experienced in the last hour is that the computer slowed down and 
stopped, I had an ssh shell window open on another cocmputer, showing "top". I 
noticed Xorg took up to 17% of CPU, later up to 26%. I had Eclipse open, and 
Android Studio, both frozen. From the other computer I stopped Eclipse, AS 
still frozen. Half an hour later, AS unfroze. Xorg still 16% cpu. I used 
ubuntu-bug from the shell window, but somehow it didn't get through in Lynx. 
Right now, the computer mostly unfroze. 

  I have experienced Chrome freezes. There's a bug registered for that,
  I'll add info after I hit enter, before this computer freezes again. I
  have replaced graphics card (same model), motherboard, cpu, memory.
  Orderd new power supply and new model graphics card.

  Also, I have issues typing the disk decription password, there's a bug
  report for that.

instead I get error "client-error-bad-request" and no self test page.
the cups error log has the entry
Print-Job client-error-bad-request: No file in print request.

Note that I can get the printer to generate the self test page by
printing a command file from terminal.

peterzay, first, let me clarify a few things here. When you ask a ridiculous 
question about if I destabilized your system, then unnecessarily repeat details 
everyone has already seen by reading the bug report, and top it off with 
continuing the same accusatory and rude questioning by asking:
"What part of the above do you not take seriously?"

it doesn't make anyone interested in your problem, let alone motivate
them to fix it. So I would recommend you fix the attitude.

Second, if you still haven't reported this upstream as previously
advised, you are reducing your chances of having this be fixed as soon
as possible.

Title:
  Xorg freeze

Bug description:
  My computer freezes randomly a couple of times a day. Sometimes I can log in 
using ssh from another computer, do a shutdown -r, but that then hangs also. 
  What I've experienced in the last hour is that the computer slowed down and 
stopped, I had an ssh shell window open on another cocmputer, showing "top". I 
noticed Xorg took up to 17% of CPU, later up to 26%. I had Eclipse open, and 
Android Studio, both frozen. From the other computer I stopped Eclipse, AS 
still frozen. Half an hour later, AS unfroze. Xorg still 16% cpu. I used 
ubuntu-bug from the shell window, but somehow it didn't get through in Lynx. 
Right now, the computer mostly unfroze. 

  I have experienced Chrome freezes. There's a bug registered for that,
  I'll add info after I hit enter, before this computer freezes again. I
  have replaced graphics card (same model), motherboard, cpu, memory.
  Orderd new power supply and new model graphics card.

  Also, I have issues typing the disk decription password, there's a bug
  report for that.

If you just change to the nvidia drivers from the Ubuntu repositories as 
outlined in https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BinaryDriverHowto/Nvidia
 (not install xorg-edgers PPA or install microcode) is the issue still 
reproducible?

  Firefox randomly looses window decoration (borders) and becomes
  unresponsive to keyboard input. The only remedy I have found to fix
  this problem is to run compiz --replace. Firefox is the only
  application to exhibit this behavior. I have seen this identical
  behavior on two different systems, one running 12.04.1 64 bit and one
  running 12.04.1 running 32 bit.

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: xorg

  Following an online update from Kubuntu Lucid to Maverick beta, use of
  almost any of the 'special' buttons on the keyboard (mail, home,
  documents, play/pause, volume up, zoom in...) fires a ButtonPress
  event (as seen by xev) for the physically left mouse button (i.e. left
  click with the mouse set right-handed, 'right click' if set left-
  handed). There is no corresponding ButtonRelease, so the computer acts
  as if that mouse button is held down. The ButtonPress occurs between
  the KeyPress and KeyRelease events of the special key.

  This makes the mouse essentially unusable. So far, I've not found a
  way to reset it besides logging off (i.e. restarting X).

  Hardware:
  - Basic Microsoft keyboard and mouse (optical wheel mouse, Digital Media 
Keyboard 3000)
  - Intel graphics (lspci says it's an 82G33/31 integrated graphics controller)

  Initially I thought the problem was related to kwin compositing (which
  also causes some problems, see bug 630632 ), but I've found it
  happening even with desktop effects turned off.

  I don't know if xorg is the best package to file this against, so if
  not, please point me in the right direction.

Hi I have dell inspiron laptop and I'm using gnome ubuntu 14.04 LTS fallback 
with matacity 64bit, composting is on for docky.
While using the standard LibreOffice which came with the disto, Everytime I use 
the Font colour highlighting feature in Impress or any of the three 
highlighting features in Writer and Calc and then change the colour it makes 
the panels on my desktop and Docky disapear.
My workaround to restore the dock/panel  is to Alt+Ctrl+Del twice and then 
everything re-appears, I then cancel the logout popup window.

I have a friend I helped install a similar fallback with matacity system
using the normal ubuntu 14.04 LTS distro (not gnome) 64bit, again
composting is on for Docky, different type of laptop with the same
issues.

Both my friend and I do a lot of highlighting in our docs and its so
annoying for us we are thinking of replacing LibreOffice with
OpenOffice, at the same time we would rather LibreOffice if it could be
fixed somehow.

Christopher if I don't install the xorg edgers ppa and just install the
Nvidia drivers the font rendering problem is no where near as bad. It
still flickers but all fonts are present on the screen. As soon as the
Intel microcode is installed and I do a reboot it's perfect.

  I want to execute a script when network (any interface) goes up and
  when goes down (with parameters).

  I've found easy to trigger first part with

  start on (net-device-up IFACE!=lo)

  but didn't manage to found an easy way to trigger either net-device-
  down, net-device-remove(d) , deconfiguring-networking

  my job loks like this:

  I'm not sure if this is expecte behaviour, if this is a feature
  request or if it's a real bug, but for company pourposes I really need

Yes it seems to be a buffering problem
in file printerproperties.py
I changed the line
 with tempfile.NamedTemporaryFile(mode='wt') as tmpfile:
to

and now the command file sending works for me.

  when I click the button "Print self test page", I expect the printer to 
produce a self test page
  instead I get error "client-error-bad-request" and no self test page.
  the cups error log has the entry
  Print-Job client-error-bad-request: No file in print request.

  Note that I can get the printer to generate the self test page by
  printing a command file from terminal.

  So it seems that system-config-printer is not providing the command
  file, or not providing the command filename to cups?

First time I tested it, it successfully printed 3 jobs and than
disconnected. I turned off and on the printer and checked again. This
time it successfully printed 5 jobs without disconnection between and
after.

Bug description:
  Problem: While playing a game with high fps (>30), which should be
  smooth, the game stutters. For example, when I play Minecraft, which
  usually runs with 40-80fps (you can see the frames per second in the
  game), the game stutters. 50fps look more like this game in the video
  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5-UpHp_p_8I So 50fps correspond to
  15-20fps, with lower fps, such as 30fps, the game runs like with
  10fps.

  I only see the stuttering with my Nvidia (GT 540m), with my AMD GPU
  (6850HD) all games run fine, even low fps games (<30) are smooth. I
  also don't see the problem with other window managers (Mutter and
  Metacity), the games run fine with Nvidia there.

  Refresh rate of Compiz is set to 60fps, VSync is activated and  "Force
  full screen redraw (buffer swap) on repaint" is checked.

  I can't remember having this issue with Ubuntu 11.10, so this problem 
probably came with the newer versions of Compiz. The version of the GPU driver 
is 302.17, but I had the stuttering with 290.10 and 295.xx too.

  When highlighting a cell in localc, using current selected background
  color is fine, but altering the selection to another color has
  recently (some time in the last 2 days) resulted in my unity-2D panel
  closing down.

  Have attempted un-installing and re-installing libreoffice4 (and
  multiple reboots).  Turned off anti-aliasing as per another recent bug
  report here. Problem unresolved.  Happens whether I launch localc from
  command-line or via GUI double-click of document

i am having this bug in 2015 on ubuntu 14.

i switch workspace to a space with several windows open, but focus stays
in the windows in the old workspace.

this is a really big bug that could cause security issues, for example
if you type your password into a public forum instead of into a firefox
password field.

  If you've got maximized window focused on one workspace, and move to another 
workspace, the focus stays on the window on the previous workspace.
  I'm not entirely sure under which exact conditions it happens, as I am not 
always able to replicate it. It seems to affect windows that are maximized or 
in full-screen mode (switching from workspace with full-screen VLC, and 
pressing space pauses/unpauses the video). Also, terminal in full-screen mode 
seems to be prone to this bug.

  Sorry if I can't be more helpful, maybe someone else affected can
  figure out how to replicate it.
