I don't think it's a lightdm issue. I've been trying lxdm and the same
issue happens there.

Might be a kernel issue: I tried mainline kernel 4.3.0 from
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/?C=N;O=D (v4.3-wily) and
it works flawlessly. Could also be a subtle race and running a different
kernel (or dumping boot messages on the console) alters the parameters
enough to make it work.

It's because you use ppa packages and not official ones so the Ubuntu
packages don't match, it seems to be fine since the Ubuntu GNOME team
seem to have a setup that got extra info, the bug in for them and not in

  To reprodcuce on a laptop install on wifi with a realtek wifi adapter
  and then install the bcmwl-kernel-source package then pull the wifi
  adapter out to remove it and apport reports that network manager has

  I think that it would be really good if gufw was installed by default
  as it is in Ubuntu MATE because all OSs really should have some
  security tools either preinstalled or built-in that allow for
  configuration which one would expect. So I think that either gufw
  should be preinstalled or there should be some built-in way in the
  gnome-control-center to configure iptables and also set what to do
  with incoming and outgoing traffic, and perhaps have the ability to
  create, import, and export profiles for these settings etc. I am
  running Ubuntu GNOME 15.10 with GNOME 3.18.

cursor if the cursor
  moves to the window decoration or desktop.

  Unity Tweak and dconf-editor show that the cursor theme is set to 
"Ultimate-white24" and
  the alternatives (e.g. update-alternatives --config x-cursor-theme) also show 
the cursor
  theme to be "Ultimate-white24".

  At the Unity Greeter (e.g. Lightdm) the cursor theme is correct but it 
changes to the default
  white cursor as soon as the login is started.

I've tried different versions of Ubuntu boot with BIOS, but the error occurs in 
all these versions. 14.04, 14.10, 15.04 
Then I installed Ubuntu 14.04 boot with UEFI and BIOS reset. ( CSM off and 
different other settings )
Now the system is running without error since 4 days
System: Asrock Q1900

Can anyone confirm this with another Ubuntu version with UEFI boot?

  I have been following the Ubuntu GNOME newcomers guide, and in the
  GTKInspector section
  (https://wiki.gnome.org/Projects/GTK%2B/Inspector) it says:

  "To enable the debugger, either start your app with
  GTK_DEBUG=interactive in your environment, or run gsettings set
  org.gtk.Settings.Debug enable-inspector-keybinding true and launch the
  debugger with the Control-Shift-I or Control-Shift-D keyboard
  shortcuts."

  However, upon running that code I just get this error:

  No such schema 'org.gtk.Settings.Debug'

  And the keyboard shortcuts don't work... I have checked in
  "org.gtk.Settings" and there is no "Debug" section.

  Applications that wish to use OpenCL encounter a few problems when you
  attempt to distribute them.

  PROBLEM:

  Applications compiled against one implementation of OpenCL
  (libOpenCL.so) will not run on a system with another implementation
  installed. OpenCL loader library is supposed to be agnostic to the
  kernel loaded (nvidia libOpenCL.so will run amd kernels for example)
  but testing has shown significant performance differences when using
  OpenCL implementations from different vendors. System must have
  libOpenCL.so used at build time in order to run an application using
  OpenCL

  As the number of OpenCL applications grows there will be packaging
  conflicts between those built against nvidia/ocl and potentially other
  vendor OpenCL implementations as they are added to ubuntu.

  Solution:

  ocl-icd-libopencl1 (http://packages.ubuntu.com/trusty/ocl-icd-
  libopencl1) provides an open source implementation of libOpenCL.so
  that will work with vendor OpenCL kernels files provided by
  intel/nvidia/amd.

  Policy for packages to use ocl-icd as the default implementation,
  allowing the use of other kernel loaders for alternative packages in
  the same source package(if desired)

  [Impact] 
  We noticed that webcam output on a wide range of skylake systems contained 
corruption during certification testing of OEM machines which uses a certain 
gstreamer pipeline. An example of the corruption is attached.

  [Test Case]
  1. Boot ubuntu 14.04.3 or 15.04 on a machine with a skylake intel GPU and a 
webcam
  2. Login system and open a terminal.
  4. Execute '$ gst-launch-0.10 v4l2src ! xvimagesink'

  Expect result:
  There should be no visual artifacts during video playing.  The artifacts will 
look like the attached video and be very obvious in the unfixed package.

  [Regression Potential] 
  Low, the fix is very minimal was included immediately after the 2.99.917 
release was made. It consists of 2 parts, a small patch 
(http://cgit.freedesktop.org/xorg/driver/xf86-video-intel/commit/?id=cc9d7f603037d0d7eff346dd350f4d8b3f31)
 and a configure option change. The configure option change was in lieu of 
http://cgit.freedesktop.org/xorg/driver/xf86-video-intel/commit/?id=986cb2335c30792e24a7e2b930ecaa3fa051809a
 which flipped it on unconditionally and only affects i915_bpo in both of these 
releases as it requires a 4.0 or newer kernel (i915_bpo is a backport of i915 
from 4.2 that is only used on skylake). Both of these changes are already in 
wily's xserver-xorg-video-intel.

  It has been tested on a large number of machines during certification,
  and also by me on sandybridge, ivybridge, broadwell and skylake
  machines.

I like this as a feature. But it leads me often to mistakes, dropping in
a subfulder. A good resolution would be that if one folder opens, the
subfolder under the cursor is gray and inactive, if i release the mouse
it is dropped in the current folder.

  I have been following the Ubuntu GNOME newcomers guide, and in the

  org.gtk.Settings.Debug enable-inspector-keybinding true and launch the
  debugger with the Control-Shift-I or Control-Shift-D keyboard
  shortcuts."

  However, upon running that code I just get this error:

  No such schema 'org.gtk.Settings.Debug'

  And the keyboard shortcuts don't work... I have checked in
  "org.gtk.Settings" and there is no "Debug" section.

   * Cups in Trusty is vulnerbable to the Poodle SSLv3. This disables it by 
default.
   * Users who have clients that don't support TLS1.0 will not be able to 
connect, unless
   they specify the additional options in cupsd.conf.

  [Test Case]

   * Install cupsd with /etc/cups/cupsd.conf SSL options SSLPort 443 and 
SSLOptions None
     * This should show up as having RC4 and SSLv3 disabled via a test like 
ssllabs.
   * Same but specify SSLOptions to AllowSSL3 or AllowRC4.

  [Regression Potential]

   * One assumption was this should only affect WinXP and even then only
  IE6 winxp users.  If incorrect more could be affected.

   * The biggest issue could be that AllowSSL3 or AllowRC4 don't work in
  some unknown corner case.  There's no evidence of this and other
  distros have deployed a very similar patch.

   * Only targetting 14.04 because of my assumption that if you're on
  12.04 you are more likely to have older clients connecting to it.

  Gstreamer calculates an ID for Audio CDs and optionally submits it to

  and fixed in gstreamer 1.3.1. The corresponding patch is supplied as an 
attachment here.
  Trusty Tahr is using 1.2.x and there is no new release on that branch.
  Trusty Tahr is still supported until 2019. It would be really nice if that 
can be fixed.

  The bug surfaces as a problem in Rhythmbox because starting with 2.97
  this uses gstreamer for MusicBrainz Disc ID handling.

  Applications that wish to use OpenCL encounter a few problems when you
  attempt to distribute them.

  PROBLEM:

  Applications compiled against one implementation of OpenCL
  (libOpenCL.so) will not run on a system with another implementation
  installed. OpenCL loader library is supposed to be agnostic to the
  kernel loaded (nvidia libOpenCL.so will run amd kernels for example)
  but testing has shown significant performance differences when using
  OpenCL implementations from different vendors. System must have
  libOpenCL.so used at build time in order to run an application using
  OpenCL

  As the number of OpenCL applications grows there will be packaging
  conflicts between those built against nvidia/ocl and potentially other
  vendor OpenCL implementations as they are added to ubuntu.

  Solution:

  ocl-icd-libopencl1 (http://packages.ubuntu.com/trusty/ocl-icd-
  libopencl1) provides an open source implementation of libOpenCL.so
  that will work with vendor OpenCL kernels files provided by
  intel/nvidia/amd.

  Policy for packages to use ocl-icd as the default implementation,
  allowing the use of other kernel loaders for alternative packages in
  the same source package(if desired)

This just started happening to me in Ubuntu 15.04 with Firefox 42.0, but
only if I run Firefox under the old vtwm window manager:

Firefox 42.0 "Mozilla Firefox for Ubuntu" canonical - 1.0 under Ubuntu
15.04.

The browser now (in the past week or two) locks up when requested to
enter Full Screen if not running under any window manager (or when
running under an old window manager such as vtwm that doesn't have all
the modern hooks).

Reproduce:

1. Start up Ubuntu 15.04 with the full Unity desktop installed.
2. Clean out (remove or rename) $HOME/.mozilla to start clean.
3. Open Firefox.
4. Note that using F11 correctly resizes Firefox to Full Screen and back down.
5. Kill the window manager: run: initctl stop unity7
6. Return to Firefox and try F11 or turn on "Full Screen" from the menu.
7. Browser locks up.

Changing tabs doesn't refresh the screen unless you do something to
trigger an X11 refresh such as opening a menu. F11 does *not* undo the
damage - the browser stays locked up. Using the Firefox menu to disable
(un-check) "Full Screen" also does nothing. Nothing works.

8. Start an old window manager such as "vtwm". No change. Firefox is
still locked up.
9. Exit vtwm.
10. Re-start the Unity window manager: run: initctl start unity7
11. Return to Firefox and use F11 or the menu "Full Screen" a few times and
Firefox is working again.
12. Repeat as needed.

Firefox Screen Freeze in Full Screen mode

Ubuntu 12.04.

Firefox freezes when I enter full screen mode. By freeze, I *do not*
mean that it locks up. I can't think of another word to use. What
happens is that anything below the top bar becomes unreadable.

For example, after a period of time in full screen, if I were to go
and begin typing a web address, what usually would come down in a drop
menu of recent websites doesn't appear. Also, if I am scrolling down a
website, it doesn't register. This is the case until I put the mouse
at the top of the screen to bring down the top bar, and at this time
the new website will register on the screen.

Just a quick update to mention that the change to the NM bearer plugin
seems to have caused a regression when qtbase is installed from the PPA
onto a desktop ( for UI development work ).

To reproduce, the overlay PPA needs to be added as a software source,
then ubuntu-system-settings installed/upgraded ( which pulls in qtbase
).  See bug #1523975 for details.

-> the new account should be active/listed in the indicator or gnome-
calendar but is not


The issue is probably that e-d-s connect to the "account-created" signal on a 
AgManager object and adds the account correctly, but at this point the 
authentification/confirmation is not done yet so the account fails to active, 
and there is no following callback after the authentification is done. 

It seems that AgManager doesn't provide an appropriate signal that can
be used there so some work might be needed on the signon side

Thanks for reporting this problem! I was able to replicate this bug in
Thunar 1.6.10, as well as in Nautilus 3.14.2, but PCManFM does not have
this problem, as said in the report.

  %k  The location of the desktop file as either a URI (if for
  example gotten from the vfolder system) or a local filename or empty
  if no location is known.

  doubleclicking it in PcmanFM acts as its expected - it opens
  lxterminal and runs .backup.sh

  while the same in Thunar returns:
  bash: /media/z/ZVs_WHITE/StartBackup.desktop/.backup.sh: Not a directory

  error happens in %k as it should return just path to some.desktop file
  instead it returns path+some.desktop in Thunar.

I have now proven that everything works if I manually set the iec958
sink via:

pactl load-module module-alsa-sink device=plughw:3,1

and as a workaround have added the load-module to my local default.pa
file

I don't have the skill to figure out why pulseaudio isn't picking this
up correctly

Also suffering this issue. Same as Daan Wilmer and Krupier123. Specially
if torrent is on (probably excessive connections) but also using browser
as usual. Connection stops (even appears connected but can't access the
web) then sometimes restarting connection works until a point when
restarting the system is the only solution. It's very annoying. Please
do something about it!!!

  Nautilus attempts to mount and access a .Trash-$USER directory under the 
autofs mount "/net" and consequently fails and reports a bunch of errors to 
/var/log/syslog.
  There should be an ignore statement somewhere so that nautilus will 
ignore/not create the .Trash-$USER directory on read-only directories such as 
nfs shares that have been exported read-only and consequently *not* attempt to 
use the directory.

  Cups SSL is vulernable to POODLE

Bug description:
  [Impact]

   * Cups in Trusty is vulnerbable to the Poodle SSLv3. This disables it by 
default.
   * Users who have clients that don't support TLS1.0 will not be able to 
connect, unless
   they specify the additional options in cupsd.conf.

  [Test Case]

   * Install cupsd with /etc/cups/cupsd.conf SSL options SSLPort 443 and 
SSLOptions None
     * This should show up as having RC4 and SSLv3 disabled via a test like 
ssllabs.
   * Same but specify SSLOptions to AllowSSL3 or AllowRC4.

  [Regression Potential]

   * One assumption was this should only affect WinXP and even then only
  IE6 winxp users.  If incorrect more could be affected.

   * The biggest issue could be that AllowSSL3 or AllowRC4 don't work in
  some unknown corner case.  There's no evidence of this and other
  distros have deployed a very similar patch.

   * Only targetting 14.04 because of my assumption that if you're on
  12.04 you are more likely to have older clients connecting to it.

  Original description:

  On 12.04 and 14.04 if you enable cups ssl you are vulnerable to
  poodle, and there does not appear to be any way to mitigate it in Cups
  config.

Has their been any progress on this? It's now 2 years later and the same
android connection loop is still occuring. The workaround has also
stopped working.

Bug description:
  trying to use phablet-flash in raring to flash a phone or tablet (or
  when just running adb shell or adb root from commandline) causes a
  constant reconnect loop of an attached mtp device. it seems adb and
  gvfs try concurrently to establish a connection which results in
  permanent reconnects and a huge amount of mtp popup windows on the
  desktop PC.
