Bug description:
  [Impact]

A list of missing files from opencc package makes opencc and libopencc2 does
not work correctly for its consumers (fcitx-rime, ibus-rime). For example, when
using fcitx-rime, fcitx would print the
following error message onto stderr once the user tries to switch to
input Simplified Chinese in Rime (Selecting *月拼音:简化字):

  [Test Case]

After installing the updated package, fcitx-rime would not print error
messages when user tries to switch to input Simplified Chinese in
  Rime.

  [Regression Potential]

This updated package would introduce an additional binary call
librime-data, which is actually a backport of version 1.0.4-2 in
Debian and Ubuntu Zesty, potential of regression is low.

== Description from Debian bug ==

In Debian unstable, when using fcitx-rime, fcitx would print the
following error message onto stderr once the user tries to switch to

However, they do not exist in any opencc-related packages
(libopencc-dev, libopencc-dbg (Oh, BTW, please migrate to -dbgsym
  package), libopencc2 and opencc).

The solution may be either include those files in a library package,
or pack those files into another separate package.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1650007] Re: Consider changing Google API key

2016-12-15 Thread Alberto Mardegan
The OAuth keys for Google are defined in EDS itself (src/modules/ubuntu-
online-accounts/google-*.service.in.in). They were registered by me, but
I gave access to them to the EDS developers themselves (though I suspect
that it was still at the time when Matthew Barnes was the lead developer
- I'm not sure Milan has access).

Anyway, I just checked the stats and I've verified that we are well
below the maximum quota, with no errors reported, for the last 30 days.
So I believe that we are fine there, and that we don't need to act on
this.

I'll leave this bug in incomplete state; if new data emerges that
convinces us that we indeed have a problem, we'll address it.

Title:
  Consider changing Google API key

Status in evolution-data-server package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  evolution-data-server (e-d-s) 3.20 before 3.20.6 and 3.22 before
3.22.2 had bugs that caused users using Google services to experience
daily limit timeouts and authentication errors. Unfortunately, users
using older versions are causing those problems for everyone that
still uses the affected API key. Therefore GNOME is updating the API
key used by GNOME Online Accounts. For more info, see LP: #1649995 and
  https://bugzilla.gnome.org/774202

  - I don't know yet if e-d-s before 3.20 is also affected. I asked but
you're welcome to ask the Evolution devs yourself.
  https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=771547#c61

  - Upstream evolution has two ways to configure a Google account: GNOME
Online Accounts and e-d-s. I assume Ubuntu Online Accounts is a 3rd
way. (I think e-d-s will need to switch to a new Google API key too
  but that hasn't happened yet.)

  - For Ubuntu 16.10, we need the latest evolution-data-server SRU (LP:
#1639926) to be pushed to yakkety-updates and fully 100% phased before
  publishing the new key.

  - Therefore, assuming Ubuntu Online Accounts is affected, I suggest
you consider changing the Google API key used in Ubuntu 16.10 and
above. Once we figure out if e-d-s needs to be updated for 16.04 (and
possibly earlier releases), I believe we'll need to update the key
  there too.

  - On the other hand, since we control Ubuntu updates (unlike GNOME
which has not control over who uses what version of their stuff) maybe
we don't need to change the key after all. Maybe we just need to push
the e-d-s SRUs as security updates to ensure people use the fixed
  versions?

2016-12-15 Thread Aron Xu
Accepted opencc into yakkety-proposed. The package will build now and be
available at
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/opencc/1.0.4-1ubuntu0.16.10.1 in a
few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to
enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update
out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested, and change the tag
from verification-needed to verification-done. If it does not fix the
bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to
verification-failed. In either case, details of your testing will help
us make a better decision.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance!

  LibreOffice Snap (5.2.2.2 (rev 7) - after upgrade from 16.04 to 16.10)

Bug description:
  WORKAROUND:
Thanks to Snappy being awesome, all you have to do to get the LibreOffice
Snap to work again is to use the command `snap revert libreoffice` :D Would be
nice if this was possible in Ubuntu Software but anyway - thanks Snappy! :D
(This reverts LibreOffice to version 5.2.1.2 (rev 6) which doesn't segfault)

  ---

Upgraded from Ubuntu 16.04 to Ubuntu 16.10 yesterday. The LibreOffice
Snap no longer runs successfully. Running it as suggested on the
  LibreOffice website (https://www.libreoffice.org/download/snap/) in
Terminal results in the following error:

  $ /snap/bin/libreoffice
  Segmentation fault

Not sure if this is the right place to report the bug but I don't know
of a channel specifically intended to report bugs with Snaps (I
reported other bugs with the Snappy build of LibreOffice on the TDF
Bugzilla but they said it's not their bug
  (https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=102853,
  https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=102841),
presumably because although it's intended that the developers of each
program make their own Snaps, it's actually Ubuntu who snap
  LibreOffice?)

Would use `ubuntu-bug` to report the bug and automatically give logs
  etc, but `ubuntu-bug /snap/bin/libreoffice` doesn't work and `ubuntu-
bug libreoffice` would just get logs for the Deb build of LibreOffice.
Should I report that as a bug/feature request for ubuntu-bug? If
there's any logs I should manually get then please ask me to get them.

Layout breaks after doing things in other tabs

Status in firefox package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
I'm pretty sure this wasn't happening a couple months ago, so this
seems to be a recently introduced.

  Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Visit https://mmistakes.github.io/hpstr-jekyll-theme/
  2. Click 3-lined Menu icon.
  3. Click 'About'.
  4. Right-click the author image and open the inspector.
  6. Visit https://pages.cpsc.ucalgary.ca/~cgbloor/w16/cpsc355/ in new tab.
  7. Click 3-lined Menu icon.
  8. Click 'TA Info'.
  9. Right-click the author image and open the inspector.
  10. Note that the layout changes in both tabs.
  11. Pull one tab out so it becomes a new window.
  12. Note that the layout is fixed in the new window.

The wrapper around the button and menu is 'position:fixed', the menu
box is 'position:absolute', and the contents are 'position:relative'.
It looks like the layout breaking may be caused by the position
relative things moving to (0,0). I'm not particularly great with CSS
(hence why I'm using somebody's theme), but I'm reporting this as a
bug because it seems wrong that actions in one tab can affect layout
  in another.

Chrome on Windows 8.1 and Safari on OSX 10.11 seem to display both
pages fine, though I only briefly tried them.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1641380] Re: chromium-browser: ERR_CERTIFICATE_TRANSPARENCY_REQUIRED for Symantec certs

Why is this still broken on yakkety? Fix committed *30 days ago*?
Literally half the internet is broken. This is the longest I can
remember a showstopper bug going unfixed in the 10+ years I have been
using Ubuntu.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1645698] Re: [SRU] network-manager 1.2.4

2016-12-15 Thread Aron Xu
@jbicha, I would make updates to all 3 series quickly to introduce that
fix, but it would be really nice to have an 1.2.4 update because it's
been long waited (without postponing to wait for other series). What do
you think?

Bug description:
  [Impact]

This SRU would try to have the latest upstream point release of 1.2.x
land in Xenial, which is the successor of the current 1.2.2 version,
fixing quite some bugs that's suitable to land in the sable branch.

  https://cgit.freedesktop.org/NetworkManager/NetworkManager/tree/NEWS?h=nm-1-2

  [Test Case]

After installing the updated version, users should be able to avoid
some mem leaks in some cases and have generally improved DNS related
  experiences.

  [Regression Potential]

This version has been in yakkety for sometime, and there's no report
  of regressions until now.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1649313] Re: Mediascanner is not working

2016-12-15 Thread Michi Henning
I downloaded the latest image from ubuntu-touch/staging/ubuntu

"OS Build Details" in system settings reports r85, 20161215

Unfortunately, I can't provide the output from system-image-cli because,
since flashing this image, USB is broken. I can no longer get my desktop
to recognize the USB port. It's as if the USB port is dead (lsusb
doesn't find the device). Developer mode is on, and when I plug my
Aquaris E5 into the same port using the same cable, it's recognized just
fine.

Anyway, after installing this image, the SD card is no longer recognized
at all, no matter how many times I insert it. (The same card works fine
in the E5.)

I guess the problem is with the image from ubuntu-touch/staging/ubuntu

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1641380] Re: chromium-browser: ERR_CERTIFICATE_TRANSPARENCY_REQUIRED for Symantec certs

2016-12-15 Thread Chad Miller
I think I found the cause of the flash-not-running blocker. A few hours
to build, a few to test further, and then maybe released in a few after
that.

Please keep bug reports useful. Workarounds and hand-wringing make it
hard to keep track of bugs.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1641017] Re: Mesa 12.0.5 - multiple important fixes, stable branch

2016-12-15 Thread Timo Aaltonen
zesty has 12.0.4, and 13.0.2 in proposed, closing

** Summary changed:

- Mesa 12.0.4 - multiple important fixes, stable branch
+ Mesa 12.0.5 - multiple important fixes, stable branch

** Description changed:

  [Impact]
- Mesa 12.0.4 is now available as a point release in the stable branch. Mesa
has MRE for these.
+ Mesa 12.0.5 is now available as a point release in the stable branch. Mesa
has MRE for these.

The release contains multiple fixes amongst which:
The nouveau vdpau driver performance has been restored. The wayland-egl
module no longer crashes if the user calls eglDestroySurface and
wl_egl_window_destroy in the "wrong" order. libEGL correctly advertises
the EGL platforms available. Multiple fd leaks were addressed, which
could prevent rmmod of devices such as the DisplayLink drivers. Radeonsi
has gained noticeable performance by disabling ReZ. Interop between third
party OpenCL implementations and mesa's libGL/libEGL is back online...
  and many more.

  Full changelog:
  https://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/mesa-dev/2016-November/135027.html

I am particularly interested in the RadeonSI performance boost:
  https://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/mesa-dev/2016-October/131759.html
In real-world tests the boost is about 20% (Yay!) :

http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=news_item=Mesa-Post-ReZ-Change-Benchmarks

  [Test case]
There's only a modest number of changes to the drivers, the performance boost
for Radeon is result of one fix for the shaders.

+ This release will be tested by the certification team on a set of
+ machines, they will post the results here when done.
+
  [Regression potential]
The release consists of cherry-picks from master, specifically selected as
bugfixes. Regression potential should be low.

** Changed in: mesa (Ubuntu Yakkety)
   Status: Incomplete => Confirmed

** Changed in: mesa (Ubuntu)
   Status: Confirmed => Fix Released

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1650395] Re: Strange large grey border around gnome-terminal when transparency is enabled

2016-12-15 Thread Jeremy Bicha
By the way, gnome-terminal upstream doesn't support transparency since a
few years. Some distros have patched it back in.

I first discovered this problem in Mint 18.1 Cinnamon (64-bit) and
Mint 18 XFCE (64-bit). I enabled Glamor (and thus, it seemed DRI3) and
tried turning off smooth scrolling and/or hardware support in Firefox,
but to no great avail. Interestingly, scrolling worked nice and smooth
with a Geforce FX5200, 128MiB - an older, inferior card running on
  nouveau.

I installed Ubuntu 16.10 to try with the latest software and
drivers..and the problem still remains. Scrolling is stuttering badly
if scrolling in a full screen. Scrolling the Facebook feed the problem
is less, but noticeble. Youtube-videos play abhorrently slow.

by other GNOME 3.22 distros.

  Other Info
  ==
This update depends on evolution-data-server 3.22.3. See the note on that SRU
bug (LP: #/1639926) for information about the persistent Google authentication

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1650381] [NEW] Slow scrolling in Firefox and slow Youtube-playback with Radeon RV730

2016-12-15 Thread Carl Englund
Public bug reported:

I first discovered this problem in Mint 18.1 Cinnamon (64-bit) and Mint
18 XFCE (64-bit). I enabled Glamor (and thus, it seemed DRI3) and tried
turning off smooth scrolling and/or hardware support in Firefox, but to
no great avail. Interestingly, scrolling worked nice and smooth with a
Geforce FX5200, 128MiB - an older, inferior card running on nouveau.

I installed Ubuntu 16.10 to try with the latest software and
drivers..and the problem still remains. Scrolling is stuttering badly if
scrolling in a full screen. Scrolling the Facebook feed the problem is
less, but noticeble. Youtube-videos play abhorrently slow.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1240336] Re: After release upgrade, the user looses permissions for several basic actions in the system

2016-12-15 Thread Владимир
I run into this problem after upgrade from Ubuntu 14.04 to Ubuntu 16.04
All suggested solutions didn't work well for me. But I found another very
simple one.
I found the obsolete file in my home directory:
/home/current_user/.config/autostart/polkit-gnome-authentication-agent-1.desktop
After removing it everything runs well.

  https://git.gnome.org/browse/evolution-data-server/log/?h=gnome-3-22

  Test Case
  =
After installing the update, restart your computer. (Is there a flag
evolution-data-server should set to prompt the user to do this?)

Run several eds-using apps like Evolution, GNOME Calendar and verify
that they continue to run at least as well as before this update.

  Regression Potential

Low. There are a fair amount of changes in this update, but they are all
targeted towards fixing bugs. This is the same release that other GNOME 3.22
distros ship. This may be the last official 3.22 release for the Evolution
stack.

  Other Info
  ==
Note that there is an issue with Google authentication affecting at least
3.20 and 3.22.0. The underlying issue should be fixed with this update (it was
partially fixed with 3.22.1 already in yakkety-updates). Unfortunately, anyone
anywhere using older still-broken versions of e-d-s still break authentication
for everyone else using the same API key!

Because of this, GNOME is updating the key used by GNOME Online
Accounts (LP: #1649995). The key used by e-d-s might need to be
updated too. And maybe the key used by Ubuntu Online Accounts (LP:
#1650007). This is because there are 2 or 3 different ways to use a
Google account with Evolution. You only need to update the key for the
  Google authentication method you use.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1639926] Re: Update evolution-data-server to 3.22.3

2016-12-15 Thread Brian Murray
"After installing the update, restart your computer. (Is there a flag
evolution-data-server should set to prompt the user to do this?)"

There is documentation in update-notifier's HOOKS file about this:

Another example is the reboot notification. Packages like the kernel,
glibc, dbus and hal require a reboot. To simplify things
update-notifier installs a helper script in

/usr/share/update-notifier/notify-reboot-required

that can be called in the packages postinst script (make sure to check
for it first). It is i18n-able via langpacks and it will only be shown
once.

Bug description:
When building LibreOffice 1:5.2.0-0ubuntu1 on a xenial host with a
  yakkety sbuild, e.g. by:

  sbuild -A -d yakkety-amd64 (...).dsc

this loops/busy hangs with unittests. This was working ok up to
5.2.0~rc4 (=final), it is a regression by a LibreOffice dependency,
most likely CUPS, which was updated.

I tried to inject debug symbols by running with a: --chroot-setup-
command and then run something along the lines of:

   apt install cups
   wget http://launchpadlibrarian.net/278966811/cups-dbgsym_2.2~rc1-4_amd64.ddeb
   wget
http://launchpadlibrarian.net/278966816/libcups2-dbgsym_2.2~rc1-4_amd64.ddeb
   dpkg -i cups-dbgsym_2.2~rc1-4_amd64.ddeb
   dpkg -i libcups2-dbgsym_2.2~rc1-4_amd64.ddeb

before starting the build proper, but I got only marginally better
debug info. The hanging LibreOffice test processes usually have 2-4
child processes. The parent and one of the childs are busy, while the
  rest idle.

Here is a stacktrace of the busy child:

Program received signal SIGPIPE, Broken pipe.

Here is a stacktrace of the busy parent:

Thread 3 "CUPSManager cup" received signal SIGPIPE, Broken pipe.

When pressing "c" in gdb to continue, both processes stop very quickly again
with the SIGPIPE.
Venturing a guess: Is the signal handling of CUPS b0rked? As fgetspent reads
the shadow file[1], maybe there are missing permissions or other sandbox issues
that CUPS doesnt handle error cases for properly?

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1639607] Re: No longer works in Yakkety

2016-12-15 Thread Jeremy Bicha
Gunnar, I think he's recommending that an SRU changelog be more specific
about what's being done to the package.

As an example, Ubuntu security fix changelogs tend to be extremely
specific [1], listing not only the patch name but even the specific
source file changed and what the change was. I don't think regular SRUs
need to be as specific as that, but I think Brian wanted us to mention
in the changelog that we did drop a patch.

2016-12-15 Thread Jeremy Bicha
I'm reopening the steam task. I've not looked into it yet, but perhaps
we can workaround this issue by adding a new steam-meta (or whatever you
want to call it) binary for every architecture that contains the minimum
data needed by appstream? And then have that new steam-meta binary
depend on steam:i386.

Mesa 12.0.4 - multiple important fixes, stable branch

Status in mesa package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed
Status in mesa source package in Yakkety:

Bug description:
  [Impact]
Mesa 12.0.4 is now available as a point release in the stable branch. Mesa
has MRE for these.

The release contains multiple fixes amongst which:
The nouveau vdpau driver performance has been restored. The wayland-egl
module no longer crashes if the user calls eglDestroySurface and
wl_egl_window_destroy in the "wrong" order. libEGL correctly advertises
the EGL platforms available. Multiple fd leaks were addressed, which
could prevent rmmod of devices such as the DisplayLink drivers. Radeonsi
has gained noticeable performance by disabling ReZ. Interop between third
party OpenCL implementations and mesa's libGL/libEGL is back online...
  and many more.

  Full changelog:
  https://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/mesa-dev/2016-November/135027.html

I am particularly interested in the RadeonSI performance boost:
  https://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/mesa-dev/2016-October/131759.html
In real-world tests the boost is about 20% (Yay!) :

http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=news_item=Mesa-Post-ReZ-Change-Benchmarks

  [Test case]
There's only a modest number of changes to the drivers, the performance boost
for Radeon is result of one fix for the shaders.

  [Regression potential]
The release consists of cherry-picks from master, specifically selected as
bugfixes. Regression potential should be low.

As per product requirement, we have released a git-snapshot based pre-
release version of zeromq3 4.2.0 to yakkety
(4.1.5+git20160811+2fc86bc) as the upstream version was not yet
available. The agreement was that we will release the snapshot-based
version only if, once the official update is available we will update
  and switch.

The rationale for this would be that the snapshot-based version is
anyway more-or-less feature compatible with the official version. It's
also not wise to keep shipping a snapshot for long as some bugfixes
might be missing from the cherry-pick. The generated binaries are
binary-compatible, with only a few new symbols exported in the main
  4.2.0 version.

  [Test Case]

No particular test-case - installing the new version and making sure
that existing reverse-dependencies still work as intended.

  [Regression Potential]

There is, of course, some regression potential, but as already
mentioned: there weren't too many commits since the git snapshot that
our previous version was based off.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1631191] Re: Display backlight won't turn on after screen timeout

Title:
Display backlight won't turn on after screen timeout

Status in nvidia-graphics-drivers-367 package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
Using nVidia driver 367.44 on Skylake Intel Processors, with 1000
series graphics, the backlight won't turn on after turned off by gnome
session idle delay (org.gnome.desktop.session idle-delay). or by `xset
  dpms force off`

  Resume from suspend is unaffected.

This is on a clean install of 16.10 with the 367.44 nVidia driver.
This is a regression from the 367.35 driver. 367.48 and 370.28 also
  exhibit this behavior.

This is confirmed on the following hardware:

  Oryx Pro 2 (oryp2) i7-6700HQ with 1070
  Serval 10 (serw10) i7-6700 with 1060
  Bonobo 11 (bonw11) i7-6700K with dual 1070

  Steps to reproduce:

  1. Install a fresh image of Yakkety and 367.44 from the graphics driver
team's PPA.
  2. Log in to Unity shell
  3. Lock screen and wait for dimming.
  4. Move the mouse to 'resume'
  5. The screen will turn on, but the backlight is still off

  The current workaround:

  1. Hit tty1 (Ctrl+Alt+F1)
  2. Hit tty7 (Ctrl+Alt+F7)

This will bring Unity back to life.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1299604] Re: evolution keeps asking for password

2016-12-15 Thread Bob English
Observations that may be of help (maybe not):

I too have this problem, or some version thereof (It seams to effect
everyone differently).

Evolution has never asked me for a password just to start up. It always
launches fine.

I have the auto retrieve setting at 10 minutes for all accounts.

I have several accounts from several providers.

I also have 7 accounts for my business, with addresses to my own website
something@mydomain.

Each account has a different password and each password has at least one
special character: !@#$...

At any given time/day (completely at random) I too get one or more "can
not authenticate" prompts asking for the password to one or more email
accounts. They all are affected, and which one is affected at any given
time is also completely random

If It prompts me for a GMail account password (3 accounts) It only asks
for the one, and repeats every ten minutes even when I type in the
password, it does not accept it.

For my business accounts however, It sometimes asks for the passwords of
all of them (7 accounts), but not always.

closing and restarting evolution works sometimes, sometimes "Kill All"
is necessary, and sometimes I have to reboot the PC.

To me it looks like this behavior just may be triggered by different
events. I have had similar messages (a few each year) with Thunderbird
too, but mainly with Gmail (server overload???) once or twice with
Hotmail. Never with my own domain.

I am on Ubuntu Studio 16.4 with Xfce4
Evolution 3.18.5.2 (still way better than Firefox!)

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1650325] Re: Make Link missing from right click menu

2016-12-15 Thread Fabio M. Panico
I appreciate the effort in providing a solution to this problem.

But, as I came to know, the "make link" is not really missing from
Nautilus, but just disable by default.

All it takes is getting into Nautilus Preferences > Behavior (tab) and
check the box for "Link Creation". After that, "create link" option
comes back to contextual menu.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1639607] Please test proposed package

2016-12-15 Thread Brian Murray
Hello Carlos, or anyone else affected,

Accepted usb-modeswitch into yakkety-proposed. The package will build
now and be available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/usb-
modeswitch/2.2.5+repack0-1ubuntu1.1 in a few hours, and then in the
-proposed repository.

Thank you in
advance!

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1639607] Re: No longer works in Yakkety

2016-12-15 Thread Brian Murray
Reading this changelog as an SRU team member I find it really unhelpful
if not confusing.

+ * Cherry-pick commit 10a62408 from Debian unstable to resolve
+incompatibility with systemd (>= 230-1~) (LP: #1639607).

Using the words "cherry-pick" and then dropping a patch:

+++ usb-modeswitch-2.2.5+repack0/debian/patches/series  2016-11-06
18:19:05.0 +
@@ -1,4 +1,3 @@
-03_use_udev_specifics.patch

is what I find confusing. I think using the upstream changelog entry
and or commit comment would have been more informative in this case.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1649995] Re: Replace Google API key used by GNOME services

2016-12-15 Thread Jeremy Bicha
** Description changed:

  Impact
  ==
Some bugs in evolution-data-server (e-d-s) were causing daily limit errors
for those using Google services with evolution-data-server and apps that use it
(Evolution is a prominent example). Unfortunately, it looks like users using
older versions of e-d-s are causing those errors to affect everyone using e-d-s
since they are using the same API key. It's very difficult for GNOME to push
everyone to use an updated version of their software.

Therefore, this update changes the API key used by those using the GNOME
Online Accounts feature for Google services.

  Test Case
  =
Restart your computer after applying the updates.

Then use Evolution with a Google account configured by gnome-control-
center's Online Accounts. The easiest way to configure that correctly is
  to use Ubuntu GNOME.

Make sure that Evolution works without getting authentication errors
  with your Google services.

  Regression Potential

I think the only possibility for regression is if GNOME did not configure the
key correctly with Google's developer platform.

  Other Info
  ==
This update depends on the pending evolution-data-server 3.22.3 SRU (LP:
#1639926) since we need to make sure the user has a fixed version of
evolution-data-server so we don't taint the new keys too!

- Also, Evolution has two ways to use Google services: 1) GNOME Online
- Accounts 2) evolution-data-server has its own Google authentication
- method. The evolution-data-server key probably will similarly need to be
- updated.
+ Also, I believe Evolution has three ways to use Google services: 1)
+ GNOME Online Accounts 2) evolution-data-server (e-d-s) has its own
+ Google authentication method 3) Ubuntu Online Accounts.
+
+ The errors are much less common for the e-d-s API key so upstream does
+ not intend to change that key. The e-d-s key is new, only existing in
+ Ubuntu 16.10 and above. (It's not even used in the Ubuntu 16.04 GNOME3
+ Staging PPA since --disable-google-auth is used there to not add a new
+ universe dependency.)
+
+ See LP: #1650007 for whether this affects the Ubuntu Online Accounts
+ key.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1650007] Re: Consider changing Google API key

2016-12-15 Thread Jeremy Bicha
Ok, a bit more info, copying from
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=771547#c62

--
The internal Google OAuth2 authentication had been introduced in eds 3.20.0
(thus it's pretty new), for which I released eds 3.20.6 with all the yet-known
fixes recently, in a hope that distros which still use 3.20.x will update and
thus will help all users. I'm not going to change the Google API keys in eds,
because the statistics which the Google server provides indicate that the usage
is pretty fine with the internal eds Google API keys. Just compare, the numbers
from the Tuesday this week:

- for the GOA, the past 24 hours:
CalDAV API - 104 millions of requests, 99 millions errors (95.34%)
Tasks API - 65 millions of requests, 65 millions errors (99.93%)

- for the eds, the past 24 hours:
CalDAV API - 399 thousands of requests, 5 thousands errors (1.37%)
CardDAV API - 59 thousands of requests, 12 errors (0.02%)
Contacts API - 30 thousands of requests, 31 errors (0.1%)
Tasks API- 9 thousands of requests, 0 errors (0%)

Title:
  Consider changing Google API key

Status in account-plugins package in Ubuntu:
  New

Maybe we just need to push
the e-d-s SRUs as security updates to ensure people use the fixed
  versions?

2016-12-15 Thread bhikkhu subhuti
I hate to say this.. but "It works in Windows" (dual boot but nearly empty on
Windows).
Perhaps this is useful even though you do not like this phrase.

The Acer website has a 250 megabite Realtek driver for windows. I have
it downloaded but have not done anything with it. I am not sure if
that will help.

When I query my snd card it says Intel but I know it is Realtek. The
hdmi is intel

  What I EXPECT:
I plug in a working headset.
The internal mic should be muted and speakers muted.
The headset and mic should work .

  WHAT HAPPENS:
The headphones work but the microphone does not work.
The internal microphone (which gives me static)... still works even though it
should be muted.
(another problem? I have static in my internal microphone and therefore try
to fix this with an external plug in mic)

Perhaps there is a quick fix for hdajackretask advanced mode. I tried
setting pins 18 and 19 like the youtube video but nothing worked. I can mute
the internal mic through this program though.
Pulse Audio has been modified to not do autostart and I start it manually (to
make hdajackretask allow changes.
Yes I start it and the bug still exists.. (it existed before I modified it to
not repeatedly autoload).

Note: Without pulseaudio, I have no sound devices listed (this is new
to me) maybe a gnome thing which I am new to from lubuntu and mate
  previously.

I tried irc #ubuntu and installed pulse volume control.. nope
  I tried ask ubuntu.
lanchpad.net had outdated stuff that I am not clear on.

  My computer is Acer c1yf.
Previously I opted for a shared bug report, but noticed it is different and
something could be fixed through alsamixer. I was not able to get it to work
nor understood what he did anyway. I played with Gnome alsa mixer,
hdaJackretast (as youtube video says) and even the conf file but could not get
anything to work.

I am on the mainline build 4.9 and latest 1.15 BIOS for acer 131t r3
downlaoded a few days ago (which caused me boot problems to fix). I
am up to speed to qualify for investigation so I wish some help.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1211110] Re: network manager openvpn dns push data not updating system DNS addresses

2016-12-15 Thread Vincent Gerris
Since this number comes before the other, if it were a duplicate, it would be
the other way around.
While maybe related it is another bug related to ipv6 as far as I can read.

The pile of crap coming from changes in networkmanager, vpn, dnsmasq or
wherever they come from is horrible : I have never had so many things
breaking over a release and never so vital.

While I am not happy with the content and tend to disagree, please
follow the suggestion of post 50. Let's try to be as specific as
possible and file the bugs like that. Thank you

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1650281] [NEW] External Microphone of headset not working when plugged in

2016-12-15 Thread bhikkhu subhuti
Public bug reported:

bhikkhusubhuti@Subhuntu:~$ lsb_release -rd
Description:Ubuntu 16.10
Release:16.10

bhikkhusubhuti@Subhuntu:~$ apt-cache policy alsa-base
alsa-base:
  Installed: 1.0.25+dfsg-0ubuntu5
  Candidate: 1.0.25+dfsg-0ubuntu5

500 http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu yakkety/main amd64 Packages
500 http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu yakkety/main i386 Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

What I EXPECT:
I plug in a working headset.
The internal mic should be muted and speakers muted.
The headset and mic should work .

WHAT HAPPENS:
The headphones work but the microphone does not work.
The internal microphone (which gives me static)... still works even though it
should be muted.
(another problem? I have static in my internal microphone and therefore try to
fix this with an external plug in mic)

Perhaps there is a quick fix for hdajackretask advanced mode. I tried setting
pins 18 and 19 like the youtube video but nothing worked. I can mute the
internal mic through this program though.
Pulse Audio has been modified to not do autostart and I start it manually (to

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1650259] [NEW] [XPS 13 9350, Realtek ALC3246, Speaker, Internal] No sound at all after making sound test

2016-12-15 Thread jacopo.tolja
Public bug reported:

The problem is that there is no sound at the jack for the headphones.
I was trying the sound test and after I change the surround option available in
the sound test, the whole sound disappear and the default output device
disappear in the Audio settings.
Trying to fix an existing unresolved problem actually made it worse.
Now I do not have any sound at all internal and from the jack for the headphone.
By the way I tested a windows 10 live and the sound worked also from the jack
for the headphones!!!
Have not being using windows for the last 10 years I was impressed how they
have improved.

of our trackpad).
So the new driver is working as expected.

For those finding very annoying the accidental middle button click when
tapping the up-right part of the trackpad there is a workaround to
disable it using the synclient command:

synclient RTCornerButton=0 ! disable up-right middle click
synclient RBCornerButton=0 ! disable bottom-right right click

You can also put the above commands in the "startup applications
preferences" control panel to make them persistent after a reboot

Title:
  lightning stops thunderbird

Status in thunderbird package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
Thunderbird Mail becomes unresponsive every few minutes.
  Editing Mail is practically impossible.

The error seems to be triggered by xul-ext-lightning which produces
  some strange errors.

After approx. 2 mins. a black window covers the screen, thunderbird
becomes unresponsive for approx 30 secs to 1 min. Closing the window
  makes thunderbird work again.

Sometimes closing leaves a black canvas without window boarders.
Selecting thunderbird from the unity task bar reveals the top window
bar, which can be closed there.
