[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1690407] Re: Dragging icons on desktop pulls a part of background as well (Artful)

2017-07-30 Thread Khurshid Alam
`unity-gtk-module` is needed for global menu and all but if it is reason
behind it then we should mark it as affected project.

BTW, How can I start a session without loading it?

Dragging icons on desktop pulls a part of background as well (Artful)

Status in caja package in Ubuntu:

Status in nautilus package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
I am reporting this for artful but it is present for all nautilus

  Issue :
  ---
While dragging icons on desktop it pulls part of desktop as well.
http://i.imgur.com/lr0KQps.png

  Possible Reason:

  See Mate issue here: https://github.com/mate-desktop/caja/issues/575

  Upstream bug: https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=768415

From that issue, "Beginning with the various GdkDrawingContext changes
to GTK during the 3.21.2 cycle, the desktop background in
Caja/Nautilus/Nemo has become "persistant" with a failure to redraw
and "erase" when any icon is moved.

  --
  1) Patching msd: https://github.com/mate-desktop/mate-settings-daemon/pull/157
  2) Patching caja: https://github.com/mate-desktop/caja/pull/602

While it may not present a problem for shell (as shell will draw the
desktop and nautilus will draw the icons on it), it is still a issue
  for any non mutter session.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1707543] [NEW] Wi-Fi connection silently disconnects, requires manual reconnection

2017-07-30 Thread jeremy-list
Public bug reported:

To replicate:
Attempt to use a secured Wi-Fi access point continuously.

Expected results:
The network interface should remain usable as long as possible, and
automatically attempt to reconnect when disconnected.

Observed results:
The network will remain connected for a while, then stop sending or receiving
packets. If gnome system monitor is running at the moment when the connection
stops working, it will become unresponsive for about 30 seconds. Network
manager will continue to report the interface as connected, but it will not
accept traffic in either direction. Using the network manager gnome applet to
reconnect will make the network usable again for a while (between two seconds
and three hours, somewhat random but the average time decreasing until reboot)

ProblemType: Bug
DistroRelease: Ubuntu 16.04
Package: wpasupplicant 2.4-0ubuntu6

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1655348] Re: gpu-manager Error: can't open /lib/modules/

2017-07-30 Thread Peter Brandon
I did some more experimentation. I did not get any system freezes when
I shifted down to kernel 4.8 from 4.10, where I got a lot of freezes.
In kernel 4.8 I get the same output when I run sudo systemctl status
gpu-manager.service as I reported for kernel 4.10 above. This might
indicate that this output isn't pointing to a system-crashing bug, but
I'm not certain. In 4.8, the game periodically freezes but after a few
seconds the screen flashes and suddenly it unfreezes. My guess is that
the same bug that causes the freezing occurs in 4.8 but the system has
some code that unfreezes the computer.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1220472] Re: USA keyboard layout - ctrl + z and ctrl + y replaced

2017-07-30 Thread Eduard Braun
Is this still and issue?

Just tried on Windows 10 with both
- Inkscape 0.92.2pre0 (973e216, 2017-07-25) and
- Inkscape 0.92+devel (48344d68f8, 2017-07-29)
and actually Ctrl+Z/Y is switched when I switch from German to English keyboard
layout.

Now
- there might be differences between Windows and Linux
- Inkscape is actually supposed to behave like described initially
but (in the scope of this bug) I can't reproduce it.

Title:
  USA keyboard layout - ctrl + z and ctrl + y replaced

Status in Inkscape:
  New
Status in inkscape package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
I change between two keyboard layouts - Croatian (a typical European
layout where 'z' is located between 'u' and 't') and US. In most
program this works fine, but I noticed that in Inkscape this change
  doesn't affect the Ctrl+Z/Ctrl+Y undo/redo combination. Whether I am
in Croatian or US - the same physical keys perform the undo action
(the 'Croatian' ones (which is my primary layout) - the key between
'u' and 't' does undo). It doesn't manifest in the rest of Inkscape,
though - I can normally write in the chosen layout in e.g. a text box
  on the canvas.

Expected - changing to the US layout should also change the layout for
  the purposes of undo/redo shortcuts.

Bug description:
Distribution: Ubuntu 16.04 x64 (Flavour: KDE Neon User Edition 5.10)

linux-image-4.4.0-81-generic appears to contain a regression, probably
related to the CVE-2017-1000364 fix backport / patch.

Using this kernel, the Oracle Java browser plugin always crashes
during stack-related actions on initialization. This means, the plugin
  completely stopped working.

It works perfectly fine in linux-image-4.4.0-79-generic (vurlerable to
CVE-2017-1000364) as well as linux-image-4.11.6-041106-generic, which also
contains a fix for CVE-2017-1000364.

  uname -a:

  > Linux Zweiblum 4.4.0-81-generic #104-Ubuntu SMP Wed Jun 14 08:17:06
  UTC 2017 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

I tested Oracle Java 1.8 u131 as well as 1.6 u64 in Firefox 51.0.1 as
well as Iceweasel / Firefox/3.5.16 in a chroot.

Using linux-image-4.4.0-81-generic it crashes in all combinations
while with both other kernels it works.

I was not able to obtain any detailed crash information from Firefox 51.0.1,
but Iceweasel 3.5.16 crashed completely, allowing me to obtain a stack trace
which shows the relation to stack operations performed by the plugin, even
without proper debug symbols:

  > (gdb) bt full
  > #0 0x7fa06d805307 in _expand_stack_to(unsigned char*) () from
/opt/java-8-oracle/jre/lib/amd64/server/libjvm.so
  > No symbol table info available.
  > #1  0x7fa06d8053ae in os::Linux::manually_expand_stack(JavaThread*,
unsigned char*) ()
  >from /opt/java-8-oracle/jre/lib/amd64/server/libjvm.so
  > No symbol table info available.
  > #2 0x7fa06d80cf0b in JVM_handle_linux_signal () from
/opt/java-8-oracle/jre/lib/amd64/server/libjvm.so
  > No symbol table info available.
  > #3 0x7fa06d802e13 in signalHandler(int, siginfo*, void*) () from
/opt/java-8-oracle/jre/lib/amd64/server/libjvm.so
  > No symbol table info available.
  > #4

I first assumed a bug in the Java plugin, but it works fine in Linux 4.11.6.

The crash will be triggered by any applet, for example the test applet at:

  * https://java.com/en/download/installed8.jsp

I'm running the Ubuntu 16.04 based KDE Neon distribution which somehow
apparently does not allow me to use apport to report this bug:

  > $ LANG= apport-cli linux-image-4.4.0-81-generic
  >
  > *** Collecting problem information

and try again.

If someone can tell me how to get apport working for this package, I
can use it to collect additional information, but (unfortunately?) the
problem should be fairly easy to reproduce...

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1707477] [NEW] Active field is not refreshed when moving too far to the right

2017-07-30 Thread Henning Thielemann
Public bug reported:

I edit the Sudoku array with keyboard.
If a cell at the right border is active and I try to move one more cell to the
right,
then moving up and down does not move the active field.
However, if I then move to the left then the field activation jumps to the
according row.

The other borders do not have such a problem.

I assume that the program does not correctly catch if I move the cursor too far
to the right.
Certainly, the position is left larger than allowed and thus the new activated
field is not shown.
If I move to the left again, then the position becomes valid and is shown.

ProblemType: Bug

Package: gnome-sudoku 1:3.18.4-0ubuntu2
