[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1724919] Re: Bluetooth headphones only use A2DP when connected manually
I am also affected, same solution as for other, I simply need to reconnect from the UI. The same headset works fine on Android, Windows, Mac OS, iOS and even my cheap DAB-Receiver can stream to it via A2DP right away. For me the issue exists since 18.4 and is still present in 18.10. I am using the Sony WH-1000XM2. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to alsa-driver in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1724919 Title: Bluetooth headphones only use A2DP when connected manually Status in alsa-driver package in Ubuntu: Won't Fix Bug description: Issue with Sony MDR-1ABT Bluetooth headphones: Once paired, the headphones will be connected automatically whenever they are switched on. However when connected this way, only the HSP/HFP profile will work and trying to change to A2DP in sound settings does nothing. If the headphones are then manually disconnected and reconnected from Bluetooth settings, they will initially use HSP/HFP but then selecting A2DP in sound settings will successfully make them use A2DP. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1844853] Re: IBus no longer works in Qt applications after upgrade
The problem is not bionic specific (ibus 1.5.17). Myself has confirmed it both on 19.04 (with ibus 1.5.19) and 19.10 (with ibus 1.5.21). So the upstream commit which was backported breaks Qt, and AFAIK the problem hasn't been resolved upstream yet. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to ibus in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1844853 Title: IBus no longer works in Qt applications after upgrade Status in ibus: New Status in ibus package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: Kubuntu Release 18.04.3 LTS Expected behavior: ibus continues working as before after applying security update 1.5.17-ubuntu5.1 from version 1.5.17-ubuntu5. Observed behavior: ibus is not usable anymore in Qt applications. After updating ibus and the related packages ibus-gtk, ibus-gtk3, libibus-1.0-5 and gir1.2-ibus-1.0 all from version 1.5.17-ubuntu5 to 1.5.17-ubuntu5.1, I can no longer use ibus in Qt applications. Using shift-space no longer changes the selected input method and even when i switch to the mozc input method in a gtk application, i can not use it in any Qt applications. When starting qtconfig in a terminal, I also get the following message: Bus::open: Connect ibus failed! IBusInputContext::createInputContext: no connection to ibus-daemon This bug was not present in version 1.5.17-3ubuntu5 and I also confirmed that downgrading the packages to version 1.5.17-3ubuntu4 restores ibus functionality in Qt applications. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1175882] Re: Hangs while modifying document (after completion of paste from Wep Page with Multiple Images)
I just tested the same scenario on Ubuntu MATE. It doesn't occur here. It must have something to do with Xfce or the interface libraries. To re-cap, I have these symptoms using the Xfce 4 desktop that is part of Xubuntu 18.04.3 up-to-date. But, I do not have these symptoms on a Mac (High Sierra) and not on Ubuntu MATE 18.04.3 up-to-date. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to libreoffice in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1175882 Title: Hangs while modifying document (after completion of paste from Wep Page with Multiple Images) Status in LibreOffice: New Status in libreoffice package in Ubuntu: Triaged Bug description: Follow these steps to bring LibreOffice writer to a crawl: 1) Allow this page to fully load in firefox (in a new tab): http://www.amorosity.com/SlingBlade/ 2) Click on the page and hit ctrl-a, then ctrl-c (coping the entire page's contents into memory). 3) Open LibreOffice writer, and paste your clipboard into it. I don't mind waiting for all the images to get loaded. The main point here, is that performance is not only slow during the initial paste. After the images get fully loaded into the word processing document, interacting with the document becomes impractical. Everything you try to do makes the application hang for several seconds. I have 4 gigabytes of RAM available for LibreOffice writer to use as it wishes, but it must be using some type of swap file (instead) while I'm modifying this large document. However, I have a really fast solid-state hard drive, so you'd think that even that would be fast on my machine. My machine should have the specs to enable me the ability to handle converting this large web page into a word processing document. Yes there are other ways to achieve what I'm trying to do, but this bug is about how LibreOffice can't handle the job. If it was programmed just right, it would make use of the resources my computer would gladly provide it, and scale up to this rather intensive task. It's been an issue for several years, across several ubuntu versions, it has potential critical consequences in some cases, yet it is "low" and "unassigned". I think there are valid reasons to make it a priority. Someone commented that installing the ublock extension fixed the issue, has anyone tried? I'm trying now, and will let you know. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gnome-session in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1600622 Title: Screen doesn't lock or go to sleep when certain Chrome tabs are open Status in gnome-session package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: $ lsb_release -rd Description: Ubuntu 16.04 LTS Release: 16.04 $ apt-cache policy gnome-session-bin gnome-session-bin: Installed: 3.18.1.2-1ubuntu1.16.04.1 Candidate: 3.18.1.2-1ubuntu1.16.04.1 Version table: *** 3.18.1.2-1ubuntu1.16.04.1 500 500 http://es.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu xenial-updates/main amd64 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status 3.18.1.2-1ubuntu1 500 500 http://es.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu xenial/main amd64 Packages I'm using gnome-session-flashback What happens: The screen doesn't lock when having certain pages in Chrome tabs Expected: The screen should lock after the configured timeout in settings. I've been having this issue sice before 14.04, which I recently upgraded (fresh install) to 16.04. After fresh install, the screen would turn down and lock the computer after 10 minutes (or whatever time I setup). At one point it stopped working. The screen never shuts down unless I manually lock the session with CTRL-ALT-L. I've followed the steps in https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingScreenLocking#Debugging_procedure The culprit seems to be that Chrome issues some suspend inhibitions through dbus when doing certain operations. Many people find this problem when using Yahoo Mail. I can reproduce it with Odoo. I'm pretty sure that Chrome is doing something else of what i've found out. 1) Gnome screen saver works correctly. I can trigger it manually with: $ gnome-screensaver-command -a 2) Gnome screen saver never receives the "session idle" status callback. 3) When Chrome is not running, I can manually inhibit the idle status: $ gnome-session-inhibit --app-id test --reason "manual idle inhibit" --inhibit-only --inhibit idle:suspend Inhibiting until Ctrl+C is pressed... 4) I can query the inhibitors: $ dbus-send --print-reply --dest=org.gnome.SessionManager /org/gnome/SessionManager org.gnome.SessionManager.GetInhibitorsmethod return time=1468170482.066533 sender=:1.19 -> destination=:1.1315311 serial=1329103 reply_serial=2 array [ object path "/org/gnome/SessionManager/Inhibitor1686" ] $ gdbus call --session --dest org.gnome.SessionManager --object-path /org/gnome/SessionManager/Inhibitor1686 --method org.gnome.SessionManager.Inhibitor.GetAppId ('test',) $ gdbus call --session --dest org.gnome.SessionManager --object-path /org/gnome/SessionManager/Inhibitor1686 --method org.gnome.SessionManager.Inhibitor.GetReason ('manual idle inhibit',) $ gdbus call --session --dest org.gnome.SessionManager --object-path /org/gnome/SessionManager/Inhibitor1686 --method org.gnome.SessionManager.Inhibitor.GetFlags (uint32 12,) 12=4(suspend) + 8(idle) 5) When testing, I can inhibit for 70 seconds, idle timeout being 60 (1 minute). After these 70 seconds pass, the screen locks. 6) Regarding Chrome, this is the information I get when querying the inhibitor: GetAppId: ('/usr/bin/google-chrome-stable',) GetReason: ('Uploading data to 10.200.0.163',) GetFlags: (uint32 4,) The flags just inhibits suspend, not locking or entering powersaving mode. This inhibitor seems to stay for 10-15 seconds, then goes away for another 30-60 seconds. The screen NEVER locks when this tab is open. No matter the inhibitor is present or not. I'm not sure where to go on. If it's a Chrome bug it must be using other mechanisms to prevent the idle timeout. Any ideas on what to look for? Julian. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1844944] [NEW] Ubuntu 19.10 switching users broken with Nouveau driver
Public bug reported: I've performed an upgrade from Ubuntu 19.04 to 19.10 5 days ago by running the command "sudo do-release-upgrade". The upgrade went well, without errors. I've installed all updates to date (22 sept 2019). One thing seems broken since the upgrade to 19.10: it is not possible to switch users when using the Nouveau driver. Prerequisites: - Use Ubuntu 19.10 - You need at least 2 users (e.g. user1 and user2) - The Nouveau drivers must be used Step to reproduce: - Start your computer - At the graphical login prompt, log in with user1: user1 is able to log in, its desktop is shown - While logged into the desktop of user1, choose "Switch user" - When back at the user selection screen, choose the profile of user2 - Provide the password for user2 and attempt log in RESULT: the desktop of user2 is never shown. Instead, the lock screen is shown. After pressing [Enter] to hide the lock screen, the login prompt for user1 is displayed. On that screen, it is possible to press "Log in as another user" and provide the password for user2 again. A login attempt results again in the lock screen being displayed. it is never possible to login in as user2. NOTE 1: the same happens when user2 was the first to log in after a reboot of the system. User2 is able to log in, and user1 is then stuck in a login loop. NOTE 2: this bug doesn't happen when the proprietary NVidia driver is used (the version which can be installed via the Software & updates screen, version 340.107). ** Affects: gdm3 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gdm3 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1844944 Title: Ubuntu 19.10 switching users broken with Nouveau driver Status in gdm3 package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: I've performed an upgrade from Ubuntu 19.04 to 19.10 5 days ago by running the command "sudo do-release-upgrade". Re: [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1812754]
I just saw this. Sorry for the delay. I use the version distributed with my Linux, and follow the versions there. I'm never going to be at the bleeding edge, and I don't want to mess with the support I get. May I suggest that it's easier for you to do a quick load of the two samples I suggested than it is for me to do an unsupported upgrade and keep following thereafter. This is especially true if you run it under Ubuntu or anything where you can use a command line like I did. This is a VERY quick way to reproduce the problem or confirm it has been fixed. Like so: for i in junk1.txt junk2.txt do sleep 2 soffice $i & done ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 18.04 Package: libreoffice-writer 1:6.0.7-0ubuntu0.18.04.2 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 4.15.0-43.46-generic 4.15.18 Uname: Linux 4.15.0-43-generic x86_64 ApportVersion:
