*** Bug 128685 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to libreoffice in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1846940 Title: [upstream] Loop in libreoffice-calc when scrolling to top of spreadsheet Status in LibreOffice: Fix Released Status in libreoffice package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: Have a spreadsheet used in many past release of calc that is now failing. When opening this sheet and if not currently at the top of the sheet using the mouse wheel to move to the top (top line to the top of the window) soffice.bin goes to 100% cpu and stays there. Can't use the mouse wheel to move off of the top line. Can move off the top line by using the mouse and scroll bar. As soon as you are off the top line the loop in soffice.bin stops. This is the only sheet I can find that fails but it does fail on this laptop and also my desktop which is also running Ubuntu 19.10/libreoffice- calc-6.3.2.2. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1848900] Re: [amdgpu] Blank display with Eoan Ermine live DVD on Ryzen 3 2200G
Workarounds include; use an older version of Ubuntu, use a faster monitor, use a video card (nVidia GT 710), use a mainline kernel 5.4.0-050400rc6-generic which also reports the VGA port as a VGA port. But using a mainline kernel and a video card xrandr reports a 77 Hz refresh rate and a lower resolution. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-amdgpu in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1848900 Title: [amdgpu] Blank display with Eoan Ermine live DVD on Ryzen 3 2200G Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in xserver-xorg-video-amdgpu package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: Regression with Ryzen 3 2200G, UEFI Asrock B450 Pro4 motherboard and 55-75 Hz monitor. Booting Xubuntu 19.10 live iso with safe graphics options did give a stable desktop display, but xubuntu@xubuntu:~$ xrandr xrandr: Failed to get size of gamma for output default Screen 0: minimum 1920 x 1080, current 1920 x 1080, maximum 1920 x 1080 default connected 1920x1080+0+0 0mm x 0mm 1920x1080 77.00* xubuntu@xubuntu:~$ The monitor is only supposed to have a maximum vertical refresh rate of 75 Hz. Xrandr reports 77 Hz as the only choice. The monitor reports 60 Hz, not that I trust the monitor. Swapping monitors and running many reboots the situation seems to be... Old versions of Ubuntu (Bionic and Dingo) can handle the hardware. Standard boot sometimes gives a blank screen. Standard boot sometimes gives a badly pixelated display (Ctl-Alt-F6, Ctl-Alt-F7 temporarily improves it). Connecting a 144 Hz monitor convinces something (the firmware?) that fast refreshes are OK on a slow monitor, or at least it fails to reread and abide by the slow monitor's limitations when swapping back. Something, I don't know what, convinces the computer to run the display at 60 Hz, sometimes. The motherboard has three video ports; DP, HDMI and VGA (using an onboard DP? to VGA converter chip). The fast monitor has DP, HDMI and VGA ports, but I only experimented with the DP connection. The slow monitor has VGA and DVI-D ports. I experimented with VGA to VGA and HDMI via a passive adapter to DVI. When running in the badly pixelated mode xorg seems to think that the VGA port is "DP-1". [Desktop-packages] [Bug 134313] Re: pdfimages produces inverted image for black & white image
Related: "In general, Acrobat and Reader will show a negative image when the image data indicates that it needs to be inverted. When you have images that are compressed with the CCITTG4 algorithm, there is a flag in the image data that indicates if a logical "1" indicates black or white. The software that created this document must have used the wrong value for this flag. I've seen similar effects also with certain CMYK JPEG images (but it's been years since I encountered the last one of those) where the PDF generator created corrupt data." [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1577738] Re: pm-utils does not write pm-suspend.log file
This page says a fix i released, in the form of a new version of the pm- utils package. In *which* version is the fix present, please, anyone? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to pm-utils in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1577738 Title: pm-utils does not write pm-suspend.log file Status in pm-utils package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Bug description: Hello, I hope I'm filing this information the proper way and I thank you for reading it. 1) Kubuntu 16.04 2) pm-utils 1.4.1-16 3) As far as the info I could find, the package "pm-utils" is supposed to write log files in /var/log, such as "pm-suspend.log". These log files, as you know, help troubleshoot hibernate/resume issues. I happen to have one issue with hooks that don't run on resume, that do run prior to hibernate when I run them manually and don't after resume when I run them the same manual way. (different issue than this bug report) 4) Therefore I need to scan through pm-suspeng.log file, but the file is not created on my machine, anywhere on the HDD. I have added my user to the "systemd-journal", "root" and "sudo" groups, in case that could help, I still don't see the log file. With previous Kubuntu versions (13.10 and others before, didn't try between 13.10 and 16.04), this log file was created right away. After searching and trying things out, I'm leaning towards the possibility of a bug, which is the reason why I am posting here. I do not know what other information to provide. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1798961] Re: Random unrecoverable freezes on Ubuntu 18.10
How to reproduce? I am now running 18.04 LTS, problem is there since 16.04 LTS. I have noticed if I disable my displays from going into power-safe mode and still let ubuntu go into the lock screen I could keep the machine running. I also disable the "No signal power off" feature on my displays. This is not something you want on the long run, but since I combine my desktop with a server running several virtual machines, I need to machine to stay on. When I get to my desktop, after not using it for a while, and I press CTRL - SHIFT, Ubuntu will wakeup and show the lock screen, I can then login - I never have a crash again. But when I move the mouse first I sometimes still get the crash. I have tested this for a couple of weeks, making sure my mouse never moves when I touch the keyboard. Even bumping the table could cause the mouse to send some signals and crash the desktop. Important: I sometimes move the mouse first and does not crash, but never when I press CTRL - SHIFT first. I have a suspicion that there is an issue when Ubuntu wake up and peripherals are doing stuff. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1798961 Title: Random unrecoverable freezes on Ubuntu 18.10 Status in Linux: New Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in xserver-xorg-video-intel package in Ubuntu: Invalid Status in linux source package in Bionic: Triaged Status in xserver-xorg-video-intel source package in Bionic: Invalid Status in linux source package in Cosmic: Triaged Status in xserver-xorg-video-intel source package in Cosmic: Invalid Status in linux source package in Disco: Triaged Status in xserver-xorg-video-intel source package in Disco: Invalid Bug description: First thing I notice is that the mouse cursor freezes as I'm using it, then I hit the CAPS LOCK key and the LED indicator doesn't respond. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1835024] Re: Links triggered within most snap apps open in a separate browser session
I am unable to reproduce this with the classic slack snap and core stable (2.42.1) on Ubuntu 19.04. I don't believe that zyga's patch has been released yet although it is merged so one could test on edge channel of core/snapd. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to xdg-utils in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1835024 Title: Links triggered within most snap apps open in a separate browser session Status in snapd: Confirmed Status in xdg-utils package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: Hi, I've recently made a clean install of Ubuntu 19.10 (development release) and have noticed that whenever I try to open a link from one of the snap apps (being it Slack or Skype) the links although opened in the default browser are being opened in a separate session of the web browser. I am using Firefox and it is installed as a regular deb package (default). This is wrong and causes issues with history, sessions and settings not being shared between these windows. Now I have the default browser I use + a separate session for Slack and another one for Skype. Not to mention Firefox also acts just like another Slack/Skype window so dash displays these as two instances of the same app. To reproduce: * Install Ubuntu 19.10 (not sure if upgrade from 19.04 would lead to the same behaviour). * Confirm FFox is installed as a regular deb package. * Install I suppose almost any snap app, although I've only reproduced this with Slack and Skype and haven't tried to install other apps. System monitor also seems to be installed but when trying to open links from the about window - translators - individual names, it seems to do nothing. On the other hand Gnome calculator which is also installed as a snap package opens the link in the about dialog correctly = in my default browser session. ``` :~# which gnome-calculator /snap/bin/gnome-calculator ``` Thank you very much for looking into that. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1851518] Re: [950SBE/951SBE, Realtek ALC298, Speaker, Internal] No sound on internal speakers, very very quiet on headphones
In the last few days, I've tried a few more things (incl. re-installing alsa, pulseaudio multiple times), but still have the same issue: headphones are extremely quiet, and nothing coming out of the internal speakers. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1735981] Re: Huawei ME936 mobile broadband can't connect
Hi, just want to update that the problem still exists under 19.10 live system. I couldn't test whether the 77-mm-huawei-net-port-types.rules fix works, since I only have a live-USB system where I can't add the file early enough. How do we get the Modem Manager people to decide whether the above described workaround is a proper fix that should be upstreamed ? Anything how we can help ? IP6 is set to "automatically" in the network settings for this configuration. and finally connection fails with "device (ttyUSB0): state change: ip-config -> failed (reason 'ip-config-unavailable', internal state 'managed')" I checked that there are enough credits left in my account with the provider. Public bug reported: I get this on Eoan, no OSK pop up for Chromium text fields on laptop. Works on desktop. On my laptop (Thinkpad L520) it doesn't work. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1847570] Re: PulseAudio automatically switches to HDMI sound output on login
One additional aspect to note is that some desktop monitors reconnect to the system when returning from power-save mode. In my case the sound selection is changed to HDMI/DisplayPort whenever this happens. Changing the sound setting back 10+ times a day is extremely annoying. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to pulseaudio in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1847570 Title: PulseAudio automatically switches to HDMI sound output on login Status in PulseAudio: New Status in pulseaudio package in Ubuntu: Triaged Status in pulseaudio source package in Eoan: Triaged Status in pulseaudio source package in Focal: Triaged Bug description: On my freshly installed eoan system I have two output devices: - HDMI/DisplayPort 2 - GK208 ... - Line Out - Family 17h ... When I login into the system pulseaudio always select the "wrong" one (HDMI) and I need to go to gnome-settings/Sound/Output Device and switch to "line out". This applies to every login/logout not just reboots. I would be good if it would remember this choice so that I have to do it only once. Or maybe (if that is technically possible) just output on both output devices by default - this would be even more user friendly for newbies who will have a hard time finding the right place to change this (or maybe have UI in the volume slider to select outputs if there are more than one? But anyway, my immediate concern is that it should just remember my choice :) Please let me know if I can provide more information. Happy to dig into code if needed but I will need some pointers. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1851910] [NEW] Display does not show up (short flashes)
Public bug reported: This issue started recently (I think it could be related to some package update. Steps to reproduce: - Power the PC on; - BIOS Boot screen (not visible, the display is off); - GRUB screen (not visible, the display is off); - Gnome Login screen (not visible, the display is off). Workaround: - after a reasonable time for the Gnome Login Screen to be reached, inserting my user password starts the desktop session. Screen is never shown on first try (the best is to see short flashes of the desktop in the screen). The display keeps on trying to start. - long press the power button to force power down and immedeately switch the PC back on --> after 1 or more workaround cycles the screen is shown (sometimes with wrong horizontal placement). [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1850803] Re: Wrong wrap length when composing emails
Updating the status to match the upstream bug. ** Changed in: thunderbird (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to thunderbird in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1850803 Title: Wrong wrap length when composing emails Status in Mozilla Thunderbird: Invalid Status in thunderbird package in Ubuntu: Invalid Bug description: After upgrading to Ubuntu 19.10, Thunderbird seems to use the wrong wrap length when composing emails. I have mail.wrap_long_lines set to true, and mailnews.wraplength set to 72, but when composing emails, lines are wrapped at a shorter length. It appears to be about 55 characters. Emails that I have sent are displayed correctly, so the problem only happens when composing.
