[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1856366] Re: PCI/internal sound card not detected
Hi Hui, thanks I was already experimenting with sof-icl.ri from the sof project. I also compiled and tested my own version. When I put the file you provided and then modprobe for snd_sof_pci then I get the following dmesg: [ 1220.050239] HDMI HDA Codec ehdaudio0D2: Max dais supported: 3 [ 1221.652307] sof-audio-pci :00:1f.3: error: cl_copy_fw: timeout HDA_DSP_SRAM_REG_ROM_STATUS read [ 1221.652890] sof-audio-pci :00:1f.3: error: load fw failed ret: -110 [ 1221.652955] sof-audio-pci :00:1f.3: error: status = 0x002c panic = 0x [ 1221.652978] sof-audio-pci :00:1f.3: error: failed to reset DSP [ 1221.652981] sof-audio-pci :00:1f.3: error: failed to boot DSP firmware -110 [ 1221.652984] sof-audio-pci :00:1f.3: error: sof_probe_work failed err: -110 I see in lsmod it got loaded, but no sound cards. I also compiled my own version of sof-pci-dev.ko using linux-5.5-rc1. What is strange I had to compile it with EXTRAVERSION="-050500rc1-generic SMP mod_unload" for insmod to accept it. The compiled driver also did not help to find any sound card. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1856317] Re: [SRU] 3.34.2
Hello Iain, or anyone else affected, Accepted gnome-desktop3 into eoan-proposed. The package will build now and be available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome- desktop3/3.34.2-2ubuntu1~19.10.1 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository. Please help us by testing this new package. See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update out to other Ubuntu users. If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug, mentioning the version of the package you tested and change the tag from verification-needed-eoan to verification-done-eoan. If it does not fix the bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to verification-failed-eoan. In either case, without details of your testing we will not be able to proceed. Further information regarding the verification process can be found at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in advance for helping! N.B. The updated package will be released to -updates after the bug(s) fixed by this package have been verified and the package has been in -proposed for a minimum of 7 days. ** Changed in: gnome-desktop3 (Ubuntu Eoan) Status: In Progress => Fix Committed ** Tags added: verification-needed verification-needed-eoan -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gnome-desktop3 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1856317 Title: [SRU] 3.34.2 Status in gnome-desktop3 package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Status in gnome-desktop3 source package in Eoan: Fix Committed Bug description: [ Description ] Update to 3.34.2, which is going to be required by gnome-shell. == Version 3.34.2 == - Add helper to create transient systemd scopes - Translation updates [ QA ] This is uploaded under the GNOME MRE: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates/GNOME This is solely to add new API. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 602809] Re: add Mouse Click Debounce Feature?
This isn't just of value to people who happen to have a mouse that's a bit iffy, who get a bad impression of Ubuntu because the same mouse works fine on Windows (see bug #1). It's possibly also of benefit to those who have difficulty with muscle control, especially the elderly. Maybe this bug can get a raised profile if we play the accessibility card? But most likely what it takes is some capable volunteer to write the code to fix it and get a patch accepted. Few of the bugs I've marked as "me too" ever get fixed by Canonical. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-input-evdev in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/602809 Title: add Mouse Click Debounce Feature? [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1856360] [NEW] gnome-settings bluetooth connection slider requires multiple clicks prior to enabling
Public bug reported: When connecting a paired, or unpaired bluetooth device to my laptop, the toggle button for enabling a connection for a device, appears to reset after being clicked as though refusing to connect. After clicking about 4-6 times it will eventually connect. However this user experience seems rather unpolished and confusing. I would say however about ~75% of the time the issue occurs for me. I am on a thinkpad X1 Carbon 6th gen. I have attached a 30s screencast to show the issue occurring. I submitted though the ubuntu-bug cli so i believe the pertinent debug info will be appended. I can provide more if need be. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1835024] Re: Links triggered within most snap apps open in a separate browser session
I was struggle with the same problem for a several weeks - all urls from snap apps were opened in different Firefox instances. Today I finally figured it out - Open some url from snap app. Navigate this instance to `about:profiles` . Make sure that setted as default profile is the same as the one when you open Firefox normally. In my case this was `default-release` profile. Once you set it as default you are done. I am using Firefox and it is installed as a regular deb package (default). This is wrong and causes issues with history, sessions and settings not being shared between these windows. Now I have the default browser I use + a separate session for Slack and another one for Skype. Not to mention Firefox also acts just like another Slack/Skype window so dash displays these as two instances of the same app. To reproduce: * Install Ubuntu 19.10 (not sure if upgrade from 19.04 would lead to the same behaviour). * Confirm FFox is installed as a regular deb package. * Install I suppose almost any snap app, although I've only reproduced this with Slack and Skype and haven't tried to install other apps. System monitor also seems to be installed but when trying to open links from the about window - translators - individual names, it seems to do nothing. On the other hand Gnome calculator which is also installed as a snap package opens the link in the about dialog correctly = in my default browser session. ``` :~# which gnome-calculator /snap/bin/gnome-calculator ``` Thank you very much for looking into that. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1856270] Re: links not responding to any mouse clicks
I can reliably observe the issue (the update to version 79 doesn't make the problem go away). This appears to be a user-agent related problem: if I use an extension to spoof Firefox on Windows or Safari on Mac and reload that page, links are clickable. So this really is a problem on paypal's side, not something chromium can do anything about. ** Changed in: chromium-browser (Ubuntu) Status: New => Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to chromium-browser in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1856270 Title: links not responding to any mouse clicks Status in chromium-browser package in Ubuntu: Invalid Bug description: On this specific page: https://www.paypal.com/hk/smarthelp/contact-us All the links are not responding to any clicks. And enable logging with log-level and enable-logging shows nothing special. I also tested on another 18.04 desktop running on physical hardware. Results also the same. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1853574] Re: Syntax error in /usr/bin/chromium-browser when xdg-settings get default-web-browser is empty
As of today I haven't found a way to reproduce the problem without patching /usr/bin/xdg-settings. Even uninstalling all browsers, deleting the mimeinfo caches, rebooting the (virtual) machine, pretending to be other desktop environments, xdg-settings always reports that the default web browser is firefox.desktop. So importance is really very low, and I don't think this fix should be SRUed. ** Changed in: chromium-browser (Ubuntu Eoan) Status: In Progress => Won't Fix -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to chromium-browser in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1853574 Title: Syntax error in /usr/bin/chromium-browser when xdg-settings get default-web-browser is empty Status in chromium-browser package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Status in chromium-browser source package in Eoan: Won't Fix Bug description: Hi, here is the error: $ chromium-browser /usr/bin/chromium-browser: 12: [: =: unexpected operator [...] Here is line 12 in /usr/bin/chromium-browser: if [ $(xdg-settings get default-web-browser) = "chromium- browser.desktop" ]; then The error occurs because on my system the default-web-browser setting is unset: $ xdg-settings get default-web-browser [nothing] I suggest putting double quotes around: if [ "$(xdg-settings get default-web-browser)" = "chromium- browser.desktop" ]; then ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 19.10 Package: chromium-browser 77.0.3865.120-0ubuntu1.19.10.1 Uname: Linux 5.3.12-050312-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.20.11-0ubuntu8.3 Architecture: amd64 CurrentDesktop: KDE DRM.card0-DP-1: enabled: disabled dpms: Off status: disconnected edid-base64: modes: DRM.card0-HDMI-A-1: enabled: disabled dpms: Off status: disconnected edid-base64: modes: DRM.card0-HDMI-A-2: enabled: disabled dpms: Off status: disconnected edid-base64: modes: DRM.card0-eDP-1: enabled: enabled dpms: On status: connected edid-base64: AP///wAJ5csGAAEaAQSVIhN4CvmglV1ZlCkkUFQBAQEBAQEBAQEBAQEBAQEBGjuAJHE4PEAwIDYAWMIQAAAa/S2ADnE4KEAwIDYAWMIQAAAa/gBSTUpDWYBOVjE1TjQyQSKWABoBCiAgAMg= modes: 1920x1080 1920x1080 Date: Fri Nov 22 10:27:14 2019 DiskUsage: Filesystem Type Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on /dev/mapper/MonVolume2-UbuntuRacine ext4 492G 235G 232G 51% / tmpfs tmpfs 7.8G 124M 7.7G 2% /dev/shm /dev/mapper/MonVolume2-UbuntuRacine ext4 492G 235G 232G 51% / Lsusb: Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0003 Linux Foundation 3.0 root hub Bus 001 Device 003: ID 0bda:58f6 Realtek Semiconductor Corp. Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug because your description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful to read "How to report bugs effectively" http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem. We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures. At a minimum, we need: 1. The specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the problem. 2. The behavior you expected. 3. During the weekend, I updated from precise to quantal, and from there to raring. I did not use sound while the system was in quantal, so no idea if the bug was present there as well. The symptom is: * after some period of sound usage, playback stops working What I mean with sound usage is: I tried having a meeting with: mumble, skype, and google hangout, and in all three cases, audio input/outout will work just fine for ~5 minutes, and the playback just dies (people tell me they keep listening to me, so mic works fine). The only way to solve this is by rebooting. After one of the reboots, I was able to play a 20 minute video with mplayer with no further issue. Then opened skype and after ~3-5 minute talk, audio playback died again. This can often be restored by re-booting the OS. When the F11 and F12 keys are working as expected, a "pop" is heard in the speakers indicating a change of volume level. The output volume slider in the Sound window has the same effect. However, when adjusting the volume using the slider in the pull-down menu at the top right of the desktop, the sound level is adjusted as seen by the slider moving in the Sound window. However, this produces no audible "pop" as occurs when the volume level is adjusted by other methods.
