[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1887190] Re: MSFT Touchpad not working on Lenovo Legion-5 15ARH05

2020-12-21 Thread Robin Windey
@Piotr Tomaszewski (nfm886) can confirm my touchpad is the MSFT0001:00
06CB:7F28. I booted kernel 5.10.1 into recovery and then resumed regular
boot and my touchpad works.

Bug description:
  [Impact]
On the Dell AIO machines, there is no internal mic, after plugging a
headset, users expect the headset-mic or headphone-mic could be selected
automatically. But with the current rule, the headset-mic/headphone-mic will
not be selected automatically and even users manually select them, they will
not show up in the gnome sound setting, and users could not record sound by
headset-mic/headphone-mic.

  [Fix]
backport a patch from pulseaudio mergerequest, the patch is going to be
merged to pulseaudio 14.1. This patch could be backported to hirsute without
any change, but need to be changed if backport it to groovy and focal.

  [Test]
On those Dell AIO, plug a headset, open the gnome sound setting, the
headset-mic is selected automatically, use the headset-mic to record the sound,
the sound could be recorded and the sound quality is good.

  [Where problems could occur]
This patch could change the policy of audio device switching, it will not
affect all audio devices, but only the devices which has AVAIL_UNKNOWN
available status, that means it has possibility to introduce the regression on
headphone-mic ,headset-mic, internal mic and internal speaker's switching since
they all has AVAIL_UNKNOWN status. For example, after unpluging the headset,
the input device will not switch to internal mic automatically or after unplug
the headphone, the output device will not switch to internal speaker
automatically. But this possibility is very low, we have tested the patch on
many Dell and Lenovo machines, all worked well.

Hello, what additional info can I provide to help diagnose the issue? I
get these segfaults sometimes right after boot. Not sure if anything is
broken though since the system works fine (aside from other

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1908699] Autopkgtest regression report (mesa/20.2.6-0ubuntu0.20.10.1)

2020-12-21 Thread Ubuntu SRU Bot
All autopkgtests for the newly accepted mesa (20.2.6-0ubuntu0.20.10.1) for
groovy have finished running.
The following regressions have been reported in tests triggered by the package:

euslisp/9.27+dfsg-6 (amd64, armhf)

Please visit the excuses page listed below and investigate the failures,
proceeding afterwards as per the StableReleaseUpdates policy regarding
autopkgtest regressions [1].

Status in mesa source package in Groovy:

Bug description:
  [Impact]

This is the last point-release of the 20.2.x-series, we should put it
in groovy so latest bugfixes would get there, and for focal because
that would minimize the risk of regressions when going from 20.0.x to
  20.2.x.

  [Test case]

Install the updates, test desktop use and some basic games etc on at
  least AMD and Intel hw.

  [Where things could go wrong]

It's possible that some apps (like games) might regress on some hw,
but there should not be a big risk for more wider bugs appearing in
this update, since upstream and vendor (Intel) CI machinery have
  tested these.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1232872]

Perhaps someone else can verify?

Title:
[upstream] NFS / lock problem with LibreOffice wth 13.04

Status in LibreOffice:
  Confirmed
Status in libreoffice package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  Hi all,

I have a problem very similar to what is exposed in question #234375.

Since I upgraded to Ubuntu 13.04 (host x86_64), I have trouble accessing
documents via NFS with LibreOffice.
The slash screen display for about 30s, then there is a popup warning saying
that another user has opened the file, and offering to open a copy, open as
readonly or cancel.

The point is, no other user has opened that file (being the only user
on my personal PC, but storing my documents on NAS).

So I tried the suggestion about adding "noauto" in /etc/fstab and
  changing /etc/rc.local, with no luck.

  But the modification of /usr/lib/libreoffice/program/soffice:
  ##

  #
  STAR_PROFILE_LOCKING_DISABLED=1
  export STAR_PROFILE_LOCKING_DISABLED
  #

  # file locking now enabled by default
  #SAL_ENABLE_FILE_LOCKING=1 # <<- if set to 0 ; same trouble ...
  #export SAL_ENABLE_FILE_LOCKING
  ###

(That is, uncomment the first 2 lines, and commenting the other 2)
  This works OK.

If this is the official way of fixing things, then I guess LibreOffice
deserves an update on Ubuntu at least.

  Thanks.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1803604] Re: [upstream] "Send -> Document as e-mail" in Writer / Calc does not work

2020-12-21 Thread Joerg Hoffmann
It works under Ubuntu Linux 20.04 as well. Unfortunately only if you
"disable" the apparmor rules for senddoc or set it to "complain" mode.
In this mode the rules are not blocked, but they are logged.

I have not yet figured out how to functionally adjust the rule so that
it also works in "enforce" mode.

Maybe someone knows better about this.

The rule can be put into complain mode with the following command (at
your own risk).

aa-complain usr.lib.libreoffice.program.senddoc

  Release: 18.3
  LO: Version: 6.1.3.2

In writer I have an open document. If I then want to send it:

  "File - send - document as e-mail"

  **Nothing happens**

Same with send e-mail as open-document and word document. Only send
with pdf opens at least the pdf dialogue. But then nothing happens.

  Path to thunderbird: /usr/bin/thunderbird
Thunderbird opens if I use this path so the path seems correct. No error
message received.

Expect: Mail is opened and document attached. (which worked before)

Update: Just checked in Ubuntu 18.04 and LO 6.06.2
There it works as expected. Will check my other system again. Maybe it just
does not work on my other system.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1895643] Re: Backport Thunderbird 78 to 20.04 LTS and 18.04 LTS

2020-12-21 Thread xiconfjs
Thanks for your work so far. Please settle on TB 78.5.1 [1] (and not
just 78.5.0) because it's got a highly requested "feature":

"OpenPGP: Added option to disable email subject encryption"

It would be better, of course, to aim for the latest version "78.6.0" but
that's just a nitpick ;)

Thanks & keep up your good work!

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1908823] Re: sporadic WiFi aborts with opening a window requesting to enter the WiFi password that is pre-filled

2020-12-21 Thread Max-Ulrich Farber
With me the problem always occurs when in a running connection the
channel is changed. This may happen in a busy neighborhood, if in the
Router (FritzBox 7530) the automatic channel selection (recommended) is
selected. It certainly may happen too if a Repeater is in use.

If I switch of and on manually the WIFI, this procedure is treated as a
new connection, and the installed password is found automatically with
no request, quite as it aught to be.

Bug description:
I am running Ubuntu 20.04.1 with Gnome. I am seeing new behavior which
seems to have been introduced within the past couple of weeks. I have
a couple custom keyboard settings configured in Tweaktool "Additional
Layout Options". These settings work great.

I have a USB keyboard plugged into the machine. If I have the keyboard
plugged in when I start my Gnome session, the customized keyboard
layout options are correctly applied to the USB keyboard. If I unplug
and reconnect the keyboard, the keyboard does will _NOT_ have the
  customized keyboard settings.

If I restart my Gnome session (using Alt-F2 -> "r"), the customized
settings are applied to the keyboard.

I think this behavior is something new. Before, I was able to
unplug/reconnect my keyboard and it would apply my customized keyboard
settings on reconnect. Is there anything I can do to force the
application of the custom keyboard tweaks on USB keyboard reconnect?

Is anyone else able to reproduce this? I don't have any other machines
with Ubuntu 20.04.1 to test with.

  Thanks!

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1908699] Autopkgtest regression report (mesa/20.2.6-0ubuntu0.20.04.1)

2020-12-21 Thread Ubuntu SRU Bot
All autopkgtests for the newly accepted mesa (20.2.6-0ubuntu0.20.04.1) for
focal have finished running.
The following regressions have been reported in tests triggered by the package:

wlroots/0.10.0-2 (ppc64el, armhf, amd64, arm64, s390x)

Please visit the excuses page listed below and investigate the failures,
proceeding afterwards as per the StableReleaseUpdates policy regarding
autopkgtest regressions [1].

  New bugfix release 20.2.6

Status in mesa source package in Focal:

2020-12-21 Thread Robin Windey
@Piotr Tomaszewski (nfm886) i just installed headers (all), image
(generic) and modules (generic) from https://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-
ppa/mainline/v5.10.1/amd64/ via 'dpkg -i *.deb', rebooted with new
kernel 5.10.1 and everything worked. So no special config or parameter
tweaking was necessary for me.

CoinMP Solver not Available, option requires coinmp to be promoted

Status in libreoffice package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
Hi! LibreOffice Calc supports the CoinMP Linear Solver, which is an
excellent solver to be used in spreadsheets and makes LO Calc superior
to other office suites in that regard.

However, the build provided by this PPA does not come with CoinMP
Solver enabled (see Tools > Solver > Options). I posted a question at
Ask LibreOffice and I was informed that CoinMP is enabled by default
during build and maybe the PPA maintainers chose to disable it.

  https://ask.libreoffice.org/en/question/240836/coinmp-solver-on-
  libreoffice-calc/

In fact, I built LibreOffice from source and CoinMP was there.
However, building from source is not convenient and I'd like to use
  the PPA.

Is it possible that CoinMP Solver be included in future builds of
  LibreOffice provided by this PPA?

I am currently using LibreOffice 7.0.3.1 on Ubuntu 20.04.

sporadic WiFi aborts with opening a window requesting to enter the

Status in network-manager-applet package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
The WiFi connection is aborted an the nm_applet shows the window to
enter the WLAN password. The password is pre-filled an you can click
  the ok button to reconnect.

The error occurs sometimes very often (e.g. 10 times/minute) or seldom
  (only one per day).

The problem occurs in Xubuntu 20.04.1 LTS since update to kernel 5.4.0-56
(5.4.0-58 too).
With other Xubuntu versions (e.g. 18.04 LTS) or kernel 5.4.0-54 or earlier
the problem did not appear. Other OS (eg W10 or div Android) do not see this
problem too.

  3) What you expected to happen: WLAN witch in the background with no net
abort.
  4) What happened instead: Network abort, window-popup with focus to password,
interrupted work.

All hardware that I know show the problem on laptops with Intel WLAN
  devices.

In /var/log/syslog you can find the error beginning with a
"wpa_supplicant[xxx]: l2_packet_send - sendto: No buffer space available"
entry. Some lines later you see the entry "asking for a new key".
The problem can be reproduced by forcing a WLAN reconnect. This happens, when
the router changes the channel or when the wifi signal strength tends to modify
the way from the computer to the router (direct connect or via a repeater or
changing the repeater e.g. in a Mesh). This behaviour ca be seen in the 2,4GHz
and in the 5GHz net.

In the sent .apport file you see the switch from repeater (2c:91:..) to
router (44:4e:..) at "Dec 29 14:18" as the repeater is forced to reboot to
produce the error.

all (pointer and click never move when touchpad is touched). This has been
reported by other users in various websites, with various linux systems
including other Ubuntu systems, but I saw no launchpad bug so I post one.
Example of websites covering the issue :
  - https://askubuntu.com/questions/1253830/lenovo-legion-5-touchpad (exactly
the same laptop)
  - https://www.linux.org/threads/lenovo-legion-5-touchpad.29536/ (similar
laptop)

xinput indentifies it as MSFT0001:00 04F3:3140

Thanks a lot for your time. It does not help, but I can confirm what
was reported on askubuntu by another user : the touchpad does work on
  Windows.
