It also fails, when configuring the proxy via PAC file (last option in the settings). (Initially reported for version 2.0.0.1+0dfsg-0ubuntu0.6.10 under edgy) TEST CASE (from comment #7): 1. Add proxy to Firefox conntections. - Tools > Options > Advanced > Network. - Click Settings under Connections. - Select Manual proxy configuration and enter valid proxy details to use for HTTP. - Apply settings. 2. Enter a search term in Firefox's address bar, e.g. "query", and press enter. What happens in this situation is Firefox attempts to reach "http://query/;, which of course is non existent. This is what I end up doing at the moment: 1. select "threads with unread". Thunderbird tidily folds each thread into a single line. fantastic. 2. scan the ones that are bold (ie, new threads), to see if any of the messages are relevant, or are from authors that I know are working in the same field as myself. 3. flag the threads I want to watch as "important", so that they stand out in red. Possibly hit "R" on the ones I don't care about to mark them as read. ignore the ones that are just underlined - if I didn't care about them the first time around, I won't care about them the next time. 4. read all the messages from the threads in red 5. hit "catchup" Of course this usage pattern is just begging for a thread scoring system, like emacs' gnus has. ie, setup key words, authors and other rules (such as, threads I've participated in) that increase a thread's score. Then you sort threads by score and ignore the ones that don't make the threshold. I checked with just printing to a file (both postscript and pdf), and the same thing happens, and at the same proportions (the same amount of the line is cut off, and pushed to the next page) Obviously, I think the line of text shouldn't be cut at all. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1954628] Re: [USB-Audio - ALC4080] Front panel: Headphone output not working
I also have a MAG X570S TOMAHAWK MAX WIFI motherboard and am having the same problem. For example, it doesn't work properly in /etc/crontab or /etc/profile.d because pulse audio isn't loaded in time. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to alsa-driver in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1954628 Title: [USB-Audio - ALC4080] Front panel: Headphone output not working Status in alsa-driver package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: I have a MSI MAG X570s Torpedo MAX motherboard, which has an onboard 'Starship/Matisse HD Audio Controller' (-> ALC4080 USB based audio chip) controller that has a weird mapping via USB audio (see bug: https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=206873 for a similar configuration). Sound via line-out works fine without any interventions. Headphone output however does not, while Ubuntu correctly detects the headphones as being plugged in when selected sound is still output via line-out, instead of via the front panel headphone jack-out. After some debugging I figured the headphones are connected to a seperate Alsa device on the same card as the line-out. Running 'pacmd load-module module-alsa-sink device=hw:2,1' gives me a working audio output that plays just via the headphone out. I guess a quirk needs to be written for the configuration. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1992350] Re: Terminal close after sleep mode
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It sounds like some part of the system has crashed. To help us find the cause of the crash please follow these steps: 1. Look in /var/crash for crash files and if found run: ubuntu-bug YOURFILE.crash Then tell us the ID of the newly-created bug. 2. If step 1 failed then look at https://errors.ubuntu.com/user/ID where ID is the content of file /var/lib/whoopsie/whoopsie-id on the machine. Do you find any links to recent problems on that page? If so then please send the links to us. Please take care to avoid attaching .crash files to bugs as we are unable to process them as file attachments. It would also be a security risk for yourself. ** Package changed: gnome-shell (Ubuntu) => ubuntu ** Changed in: ubuntu Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gnome-shell in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1992350 Title: Terminal close after sleep mode Status in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: I am using Ubuntu using virtualbox, and when the machine goes to sleep mode it closes the terminal and also processing tasks. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 892476]
(In reply to DN from comment #20) > The content of "replace" should be interpreted as a regex (i.e. > \n should be interpreted as a newline, not a literal string). While I *don't* tell that this tdf#43107 is not a bug, I want to stress that it's incorrect to consider *replacement* string as a "regex" - no, it is never so. Only a search string is a regex. The replacement string is a special string that, as per documentation [1], may contain references. We have an extension of that syntax; and there is bug 106137 to extend it further. I would argue that for consistency, exactly because in Calc, the newline in a cell inserts *paragraphs* (not only available in the file format, but also in the API; and that is not a bug), the \n in the replacement box should behave *consistently* with Writer, where it inserts paragraphs. Just don't say that replacement string is a "regex" :) [1] https://unicode- org.github.io/icu/userguide/strings/regexp.html#find-and-replace -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to libreoffice in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/892476 Title: [Upstream] Regular expression "\n" in replace field inputs "\n" instead of paragraph break Status in LibreOffice: Confirmed Status in libreoffice package in Ubuntu: Triaged Bug description: 1) lsb_release -rd Description:Ubuntu 11.10 Release:11.10 2) apt-cache policy libreoffice-calc libreoffice-calc: Installed: 1:3.4.4-0ubuntu1~ppa1 Candidate: 1:3.4.4-0ubuntu1~ppa1 Version table: *** 1:3.4.4-0ubuntu1~ppa1 0 500 http://ppa.launchpad.net/libreoffice/ppa/ubuntu/ oneiric/main i386 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status 1:3.4.3-3ubuntu2 0 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ oneiric/main i386 Packages 3) What is expected to happen in LibreOffice Calc is when one of the cells contains a line break -> Edit -> Find and Replace... -> in the "Search for" drop down \n -> in the "Replace with" drop down \n -> Regular expression button checked is the line break is replaced with a paragraph break as noted in http://help.libreoffice.org/Common/List_of_Regular_Expressions 4) What happens instead is the line break is replaced with the characters \n ProblemType: BugDistroRelease: Ubuntu 11.10 Package: libreoffice-calc 1:3.4.3-3ubuntu2 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.0.0-12.20-generic 3.0.4 Uname: Linux 3.0.0-12-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 1.23-0ubuntu4 Architecture: amd64 Date: Sat Nov 19 13:02:28 2011 EcryptfsInUse: YesInstallationMedia: Ubuntu 10.10 "Maverick Meerkat" - Release amd64 (20101007)SourcePackage: libreoffice UpgradeStatus: Upgraded to oneiric on 2011-10-16 (34 days ago) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/df-libreoffice/+bug/892476/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages Post to : desktop-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1991493] Re: Data ciphers are not properly configured with openvpn 2.6
This update makes it possible to connect to VPNs where the "cipher" (now "data-ciphers") option is needed, as long as the connection is manually modified. This part works great. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1975823] Re: pipewire alsa blocks after initial buffer size of data got written
** Changed in: pipewire (Debian) Status: Fix Released => New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to pipewire in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1975823 Title: pipewire alsa blocks after initial buffer size of data got written Status in pipewire package in Ubuntu: Triaged Status in pipewire package in Debian: New Bug description: I have this bug also if I install pipewire manaully on focal and jammy. I use a Java Application using the javax.sound package to get a output to the AudioSystem. I have an own Java library using the same and I poked around a bit: It uses Alsa as Output. The line object Java provides has the possibility to ask for the available bytes in the buffer. Normally with pulseaudio you can see the buffer getting filled and then, as the audio get's played back, recovering by the played back bytes amount. With pipewire-pulse on the other hand it just fills the buffer and reporting no more available bytes. But it plays back the bytes successfully written to the buffer. Meaning its unable to write more, as the available buffer size never recovers, even though the already written ones have been played just fine. I have checked the behavior also on Debain-testing, Manjaro and Fedora. Fedora is the only distro without this problem. Fedora has the package pipewire-alsa in its repositories and installed, which is not available on the other distros. If I have understood it correctly, the alsa functionality should be included into the default pipewire-pulse now, but for some reason fedora decided to keep the extra package? So I'd really like to see pipewire-pulse being the default in the future, but this has to be fixed somehow. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1992291] Re: latest thunderbird update not functional with my configuration
Ah - sorry. The newer package is 1:102.2.2+build1-0ubuntu0.18.04.1. As I noted above, it did not migrate my primary e-mail setup at all and I was unable to manually configure it. There was an option for exactly one password, yet my local IMAP and Gmail's SMTP use different auth methods and passwords! The bigger and more immediate question is why in $deity's name is the previous version no longer available as a recovery option? I was able to downgrade back to the base version 60.0, but lost compatibility with add-ons. Pulling the immediate predecessor package is less than the most optimal way to manage the repository. I looked for a solid hour yesterday and still could not find a DEB for 1:91.11.0+build2-0ubuntu0.18.04.1 (most recent working level). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to thunderbird in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1992291 Title: latest thunderbird update not functional with my configuration Status in thunderbird package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: After many troublefree years, I'm sorry to report that the latest Thunderbird update for Bionic really hosed me. My existing local IMAP configuration was not migrated and when I try to set it up manually it cannot deal with the fact that incoming mail originates in my IMAP, while outgoing passes directly to gmail SMTP. No way to specify two different accounts apparently and after about an hour I ripped it out and tried to revert. Unfortunately its predecessor version is not available and I had to go back to version 60.0 to regain functionality. Very disappointing and I hope this will be addressed. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1991493] Re: Data ciphers are not properly configured with openvpn 2.6
Thanks, reuploaded. I've added a new changelog entry since it was already uploaded and we can't reuse the same version ** Changed in: network-manager-openvpn (Ubuntu) Status: Triaged => Fix Committed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to network-manager-openvpn in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1991493 Title: Data ciphers are not properly configured with openvpn 2.6 Status in NetworkManager-OpenVPN: New Status in network-manager-openvpn package in Ubuntu: Fix Committed Bug description: OPTIONS ERROR: failed to negotiate cipher with server. Add the server's cipher ('AES-256-CBC') to --data-ciphers (currently 'AES-256-GCM:AES-128-GCM:CHACHA20-POLY1305') if you want to connect to this server. So basically some servers won't be supported anymore because unsupported '--cipher' option is used instead of '--data-ciphers' A fix is available at https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/NetworkManager- openvpn/-/merge_requests/46 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/network-manager-openvpn/+bug/1991493/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages Post to : desktop-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1987330] Re: Dock click action "previews" focuses instead
Mh, the only case I could see this from code is if a window is marked as urgent, but this doesn't seem likely... Other possibility is that the option is wrongly set... Please check what gsettings gives to you. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gnome-shell-extension-ubuntu-dock in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1987330 Title: Dock click action "previews" focuses instead Status in gnome-shell-extension-ubuntu-dock package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: Description: Ubuntu 22.04.1 LTS Release: 22.04 gnome-shell-extension-ubuntu-dock: Installed: 72~ubuntu5.22.04.1 Candidate: 72~ubuntu5.22.04.1 Version table: *** 72~ubuntu5.22.04.1 500 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu jammy-updates/main amd64 Packages 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu jammy-updates/main i386 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status 72~ubuntu5 500 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu jammy/main amd64 Packages 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu jammy/main i386 Packages With the Ubuntu dock click-action set to previews, focusing on one program then clicking on the icon of a different program with multiple windows focuses the most recently used window from that program instead of showing the previews. Steps to reproduce:- 1) Open multiple Terminal windows (or any program I guess, but I used Terminal and Firefox for testing) 2) Open Firefox 3) Click on the Terminal icon in the dock Expected behaviour: Previews for all the Terminal windows are shown Actual behaviour: The most recent Terminal window is focused. Additional info: Appears to be a regression of #1947445, which was supposedly fixed in version 70 but I'm on version 72. I've tried setting the click-action via gsettings and by editing /usr/share/glib-2.0/schemas/10_ubuntu- dock.gschema.override (as per #1770405) but neither has any effect.
