[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1705014] [NEW] Kannada l10n package missing

2017-07-18 Thread ಯೋಗೇಶ್
Public bug reported:

The language pack for Kannada language is not available as part of
libreoffice-l10n while I can see there are other Indic languages here.
Request the maintainers to include libreoffice-l10n-kn package for
Kannada language interface in LibreOffice. Community has been
translating strings on Pootle.

Thank you!

** Affects: libreoffice-l10n (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

Title:
Language package libreoffice-l10n-kn is missing in libreoffice and
other related ppa's of latest libreoffice

Status in libreoffice package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
Although Libreoffice has about 90% of strings translated to Kannada in LO 4.2
and 4.3, libreoffice-l10n-kn is not packaged into Libreoffie package.[1]
And translation is completed for LO 4.1 version, but still localization
package for Kannada was neither included in Indic language
package(libreoffice-l10n-in) nor there was seperate package in previous version
of libreoffice. But I see most of the rpm-based systems ship
libreoffice-l10n-kn with their libreoffice.[2]

Libreoffice.org provides *.deb files for Kannada(kn), but these
packages can't be used with existing Libreoffice package in Ubuntu and
whole *.deb packages have to be downloaded from LO site.[3]

One workaround can be installing *deb packages provided by
Libreoffice.org and then install Kannada(kn) language package.
