[Desktop-packages] [Bug 60103] Re: Can't install freeglut3-dev

2016-12-03 Thread Andreas Moog
At least on current Zesty, freeglut3-dev is installable, so marking as
invalid. Should you encounter this bug in a currently supported release,
please open a new issue. Thanks.

  Can't install freeglut3-dev

Status in freeglut package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: freeglut3-dev

In the last revision of Ubuntu 6.10, I can't install freeglut3-dev due
  to dependency problems:

  llpamies@patufet:~ $ sudo apt-get install freeglut3-dev
  Reading package lists... Done
  Building dependency tree
  Reading state information... Done
Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.

Since you only requested a single operation it is extremely likely that
the package is simply not installable and a bug report against
  that package should be filed.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
freeglut3-dev: Depends: xlibmesa-glu-dev but it is not installable or
libglu-dev
  E: Broken packages

  (sorry for this duplicate ID)
  Thanks for all.

Bug description:
I'm using an Optimus laptop (Asus N43SL)
nvidia-prime is installed, so my nvidia dedicated graphics card (GT 540m) is
in use.

Once in a while, my screen will freeze, only when I use my touchpad.
This does not happen with my USB mouse.
This does not happen either when I uninstall nvidia-prime and use my intel
integrated graphics (HD3000).

I can temporarily solve the issue by doing a VT switch.

In the attached Xorg.0.log, you can see synaptics: ETPS/2 Elantech Touchpad:
touchpad found each time I did a VT switch and regained control.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1241007] Re: FTBFS in saucy

2013-10-28 Thread Andreas Moog
Jackson,

I think you addressed the wrong bug report. This bug is:

- not arm64 specific
- not fixed by running autoreconf (the package already uses it)
- not caused by outdated config.guess/sub files (the package updates the files
during build)

Status in Pidgin:
  New
Status in “pidgin” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
When I want to send a URL to a friend I like to double click in the
address bar of Firefox and it highlights the entire URL and then I can
drag it to the pidgin window and drop it in the send box. However,
what actually happens is when I drag the URL it pastes it twice.

Example of what you'll see in the send box after dropping:

http://www.brightcove.tv/title.jsp?title=1568171329http://www.brightcove.tv/title.jsp?title=1568171329

  What it should be:

  http://www.brightcove.tv/title.jsp?title=1568171329

If I highlight the URL by any other means and don't drag it but
instead right-click and Copy, then go to Pidgin and right-click and
  Paste, then it works properly.

  Pidgin 2.4.1 and 2.5.0

Could you try:

Does that clear your error?

segfault in accounts-daemon when logging in / gdm crash if user
  account is added or deleted

Status in “accountsservice” package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released
Status in “accountsservice” source package in Precise:
  In Progress

Bug description:
  [Impact]
libaccountsservice contains a double free which under certain circumstances
will cause accounts-daemon to segfault, and under other circumstances will
cause gdm to segfault when a user account is added or removed.

  [Test case]
In a precise machine with kerberos authentication, adding a new user via
sudo adduser test will cause an X session running under GDM to crash with a
segfault.

Once the patch is applied, running the same command line should not
affect a running X session. For the test to have value, the session
needs to have been started after the new accountsservice packages were
  installed.

  [Possible regressions]
This is just one line removing a double free that has been applied upstream
for 16 months, so the code itself should be fine. To be certain that
everything is alright, not only gdm but also lightdm should be tested.

  [Original description]
I noticed this in my logs. It's not obviously broken anything, but segfaults
are bad so I thought it worth reporting.

Not an upstream problem, the gwibber i386 build is simply waiting for
another package to go through the NEW queue. (gwibber-service is arch-
all, so it only builds on i386).

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 769164] Re: gwibber-service crashed with GError in __getitem__(): Failed to contact configuration server; the most common cause is a missing or misconfigured D-Bus session bus

2012-02-10 Thread Andreas Moog
Thanks for the update, two things:

1. If it's fixed, why is the report Invalid and not Fix Released?
2. If the fix is only in an upcoming release (i.e. not published in Ubuntu),
why is the report closed and not Fix Committed?

Cheers,
  Andreas

  Confirmed

Bug description:
Since I started testing Feisty, I've run in to a rather odd problem - when I
run ssh in my terminal, a strange dialog pops up, asking for my Secure Shell
Key Passphrase.
Given the fact that I have no such thing on this computer, I find that rather
strange.

In addition to that, CLI commands should never spawn dialogs or other
windows...
Also, the spawned window not only steals focus, but it steals all text input
regardless of whether it's focused or not

  To reproduce:
Open a termial in Feisty and run 'ssh some.host.com'

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 764407] Re: seahorse crashed with SIGABRT in __kernel_vsyscall()

2012-02-01 Thread Andreas Moog
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Please answer these questions:

* Is this reproducible?
* If so, what specific steps should we take to recreate this bug?

I can't get it to crash on Oneiric/Precise, tried to deliberately cause
a sync failure, but no crash.

This will help us to find and resolve the problem.

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: evolution

gb18030 is a superset of gb2312 and gbk. Some emails with an encoding
tag of gb2312 or gbk actually contain extra characters from gb18030
charset. (For example, those emails written in Simplified Chinese from
Gmail are all tagged with gb2312, but users are allowed to enter any
characters in gb18030 charset, as soon as the OS supports it.) When
those emails are encoded in gb2312 or gbk, fussy characters are shown.
Thus all emails tagged with gb2312 or gbk should be encoded in
gb18030. Ths is a compatibility enhancement feature which is already
implemented in many email clients, including Mozilla Thunderbird.
Without this, experienced users have to manually choose the proper
encoding; average ones probably give up trying and use other email
clients instead. Unfortunately, Evolution doesn't provide this feature
  yet.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 913306] Re: apport invokes too early

Apport cares for the package versions at the time the crash/problem
occurred. It doesn't matter if you upgrade AFTER the crash so I'm

Apport collects it's data, then says 'the problem can't be reported you have

@Apport, I know, that's the reason why update-manager was opened in the first

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 506323] Re: seahorse documentation should specify encryption used for protecting the passwords

2011-11-26 Thread Andreas Moog
This is a typo in the file(1) utility.

** Package changed: seahorse (Ubuntu) = file (Ubuntu)

** Summary changed:

- seahorse documentation should specify encryption used for protecting the
passwords
+ typo in magic file for gnome-keyring (AEL vs. AES)

** Bug watch added: Global Wire Oy Mantis #153

I cannot find any information about the encryption algorithm used to protect
the stored passwords. The only hint about any real encryption is output of
  $ file ~/.gnome2/keyrings/login.keyring
[...] GNOME keyring, major version 0, minor version 0, crypto type 0 (AEL)
[...]

Where is the AEL encryption documented? I guess that this is not just
  a typo for AES...
