When this happens, the rename actually succeeded, so I usually just relaunch nautilus and open the file. Having logged this, I was doing some more replication checks, straight after the crash, it was not possible to duplicate, but I really get this a lot. For a stable build I had to rollback to 11.10, I can't take the downtime associated with diagnosing this, 12.04 wasn't stable for me, 12.10 didn't cure it either, fingers crossed for 13.04. And it is frequently freezing, for the first few hours it ran smoothly and when I started watching videos it started freezing randomly. I have to use hard restart every time. Initially it was only during videos but now even during normal browsing it is freezing. I am using on board graphics and do not have any graphics card installed. This thread is so long. Solution is to not use 12.04, rollback to 11.10 and save yourself a bunch of time. I'll give 12.10 a spin, but will be keeping 11.10 on hand if tat still as these problems.
