[Desktop-packages] [Bug 964440] Re: Icons leave a trail of shadows with compositing effects enabled

2015-07-27 Thread Aritchie
Ubuntu 12.04.5
metacity 1:2.34.1-1ubuntu11
unity-2d 5.14.0-0ubuntu2

When dragging operation is started, an a black box is drawn around the
icon and leaves a trail behind it. I could only capture the black box
but not the trail with gnome-screenshot. Also it leaves artifacts with
tooltips. Windows with shadows are not effected however.

Icons leave a trail of shadows with compositing effects enabled

Bug description:

When compositing effects are enabled in metacity, icons dragged around
the desktop leave a trail of shadows (i.e., the icon's shadow is not
correctly erased at the last position but stays on the desktop), until
  the icon is dropped.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1224732] Re: Custom keyboard shortcuts don't work

2014-12-11 Thread Aritchie
Okay after doing so more digging I discovered that defining custom
keyboard shortcuts does work but it apparently does not like the FN+F3
key. It puts it down as Battery. The same goes for the ThinkVantage
button - it puts down as Launch1 and apparently the system will not
interpret those. If I assign let's say Alt-F' for one of tose than
that works. The other FN + specialty keys on my Thinkpad that were setup
by Ubuntu on install work. Hmm... I am going to poke around some more on
this.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1224732] Re: Custom keyboard shortcuts don't work

2014-12-10 Thread Aritchie
Ubuntu 14.04.1 LTS
Lenovo T61 laptop

I tried creating custom shortcut keys for the ThinkVantage button and FN
= F3 combo. I had not problem creating the shortcuts but nothing happens
when I use the shortcuts. I have double-checked to make sure that the
command for each shortcut is correct. Now all the pre-defined shortcuts
work just fine.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 754562] Re: soffice.bin crashed with SIGSEGV in g_hash_table_lookup() (Libreoffice with lo-menubar crash from page preview)

2012-07-25 Thread Aritchie
Ubuntu 12.04 32-bit
Unity-3d
libreoffice 3.5.4.2
lo-menubar 0.1.1-ubuntu0.1

The only time is crashes is if I use the print preview in the toolbar first. I
noticed the menu bar for the print preview window does not integrate with the
global menu.
If I first go to Fle - Print Preview, everythng works just fine and no
problems. I did not uninstall it since it is not a big deal for me to first use
if from the menu. The toolbar print preview button works just fine and so does
the global menu if I use the menu item first.

Libreoffice Writer crashed after I've activated the page view.

This only happens when lo-menubar package is installed.

  [Test Case]
Open a document in a fresh instance of lowriter and click on the Page
preview button on the toolbar and verify lowriter doesn't crash.

  [Regression potential]
The bulk of the changes in this update is from when it was merged into
libreoffice upstream they did some refactoring work. Upstream for lo-menubar
attempted to backport just enough to fix this bug and gave up because the diff
would end up being just as big as the changes we got from libreoffice and too
much work to make it worth the effort. Our best hope of getting a fix for this
in 12.04 is to take the new upstream version. It has been in quantal for
nearly two months now and it clearly fixes this bug and we haven't seen new
bugs introduced.

2012-01-28 Thread Aritchie
Hmm, looks like the issue has resurfaced - only the error code is
different. This is an ipad 2 with ios 5.0.1. I am running Ubuntu 11.10.
It states Unable to mount iPad Unhandled Lockdown error (-15). This
problem surfaced months ago but was fixed with some updates. It looks
like some recent updates have broken it again. If you guys need some
more information, then please let me know what you need. It was working
the last time I connected my iPad, but I have installed updates to
Ubuntu since so I have no idea what happened.
