[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1744340] Re: missing models.dat file

2021-12-23 Thread Concrete Gannet
I had the same problem.

For some reason, the Debian package wasn't installing
/etc/hp/hplip.conf.

Adding that file with the following contents fixed the error, so the
HPLIP utilities could find the models.dat file.

[hplip]
version=3.21.2

[dirs]
home=/usr/share/hplip

  Bluetooth BCM43142A0 doesn’t work

Status in bluez package in Ubuntu:

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:

Status in linux-firmware package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
I’ve installed ubuntu 14.04 and my computer’s builtin bluetooth
(computer is an Asus x550ln) doesn’t work at all. Bluetooth is not
displayed in the menu bar, if I open the bluetooth UI and switch on,
nothing happens and the result of “hcitool dev” is empty.

I have tried to install the windows driver with ndiswrapper, and the
bluetooth device seems to be detected as an usb bluetooth device but
still not working. I then add the device to the bluetooth usb device
and was able to activate bluetooth in the UI but it does not detect
any other devices (I’ve tested with a smartphone).

The driver I have installed can be found in asus page =>
  http://www.asus.com/fr/Notebooks_Ultrabooks/X550LN/HelpDesk_Download/
Select Windows OS, then “bluetooth” section, take the Broadcom driver
  (should be the first one).

If you extract this archive, you will find a file named “bcbtums-
win8x64-brcm.inf” which I installed using the following command:

  ndiswrapper -i bcbtums-win8x64-brcm.inf

Then, the result of “ndiswrapper -l” is:

  bcbtums-win8x64-brcm : driver installed
device (04CA:2006) present

in usb-devices, I find a device which was not present before
installation (I might have activated btusb before on this paste):

  T: Bus=02 Lev=01 Prnt=01 Port=05 Cnt=02 Dev#= 3 Spd=12 MxCh= 0
  D: Ver= 2.00 Cls=ff(vend.) Sub=01 Prot=01 MxPS=64 #Cfgs= 1
  P: Vendor=04ca ProdID=2006 Rev=01.12
  S: Manufacturer=Broadcom Corp
  S: Product=BCM43142A0
  S: SerialNumber=B8EE6593D989
  C: #Ifs= 4 Cfg#= 1 Atr=e0 MxPwr=0mA
  I: If#= 0 Alt= 0 #EPs= 3 Cls=ff(vend.) Sub=01 Prot=01 Driver=btusb
  I: If#= 1 Alt= 0 #EPs= 2 Cls=ff(vend.) Sub=01 Prot=01 Driver=btusb
  I: If#= 2 Alt= 0 #EPs= 2 Cls=ff(vend.) Sub=ff Prot=ff Driver=(none)
  I: If#= 3 Alt= 0 #EPs= 0 Cls=fe(app. ) Sub=01 Prot=01 Driver=(none)

  then, “echo "04ca 2006" > /sys/bus/usb/drivers/btusb/new_id”, and I
can switch usb on, but no device will be detected and I’ve found this
  in the dmesg:

  [2200.843126] Bluetooth: hci0 command 0x1003 tx timeout

which looks pretty much like a “bluetooth not working” message which I
  don’t understand in details.

I leave here my full dmesg:

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1719038] Re: X Server crashes during log in VM since 16.04.2

2018-03-15 Thread Gannet
Also I found the previous patch works only when qemu-guest-agent in not
added to the VM, otherwise crash happens all the times while to login.
It show window which informs that ksmserver is crashed and if to click
"okay", it quits to sddm login screen.

** Also affects: qemu (Ubuntu)
   Importance: Undecided
   Status: New

2018-03-13 Thread Gannet
You can try Fumatic driver which is recommended by default:

1) sudo getweb 1018

2) choose a printer driver from a list: HP --> LaserJet 1018
Foomatic/foo2zjs-z1 (recommended)(en)

Than reboot and try to print.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1495971] Re: Samsung ML-1250 prints only first job and then disconnects

2015-09-26 Thread Gannet
Thank you for your answer. If it saves forever too, then why better to
turn off usb reattaching through

/usr/share/cups/usb/org.cups.usb-quirks

instead of

lpadmin -p Samsung-ML-1250 -o usb-no-reattach-default=true

 ?

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1495971] Re: Samsung ML-1250 prints only first job and then disconnects

2015-09-25 Thread Gannet
Thank you. I'll do it next week.

Furthermore, could you explain me did this command:

>lpadmin -p Samsung-ML-1250 -o usb-no-reattach-default=true

saves changes only until next rebooting or does it saves changes forever
?

Thanks again.

Bug description:
After upgrade from Kubuntu 15.04 to Kubuntu 15.10 X Server starting to
crash every few days. Sometimes crash may happen few times per day.
This crash is reproducible with packages from main repository and from
Xorg Edgers PPA. Attached logs is crated with Xorg Edgers PPA.

Please look into attached xorgcrash file. Other relevant logs is Xorglog2 and
gdb-Xorg2.txt.
If this matter, Xorg also crash on login if I trying to start with glamor or
modesetting driver (but I doesn't sure it's a same crash). I didn't tried

Bug description:
After upgrade from Kubuntu 15.04 to Kubuntu 15.10 X Server starting to

This crash is reproducible with packages from main repository and from
Xorg Edgers PPA. Attached logs is crated with Xorg Edgers PPA.

Please look into attached xorgcrash file. Other relevant logs is Xorglog2 and
gdb-Xorg2.txt.
If this matter, Xorg also crash on login if I trying to start with glamor or
modesetting driver (but I doesn't sure it's a same crash). I didn't tried
modesetting driver in Kubuntu 15.04, but glamor works for sure (with some

Status in xorg package in Ubuntu:

Status in xorg-lts-utopic package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  During 14.04.1 LTS -- 14.04.2 LTS upgrading I found a strange bug.

  How to reproduce:

  1) sudo apt-get install linux-generic-lts-utopic xserver-xorg-lts-
  utopic libegl1-mesa-drivers-lts-utopic xserver-xorg-video-all-lts-
  utopic xserver-xorg-input-all-lts-utopic

  2) sudo aptitude purge linux-headers-3.13.0-48 linux-
  headers-3.13.0-48-generic linux-image-3.13.0-48-generic linux-image-
  extra-3.13.0-48-generic

  3) sudo aptitude purge ~c

  4) reboot

  What happens:

system unable to boot graphics session and boots to VM instead.

  Founded workaround:

  sudo aptitude reinstall xserver-xorg-lts-utopic

So, It seems aptitude purge ~c for some reason breaks xserver package that
should be reinstalled then to make system fully botable. Also I found it is
reproduced on many computers.

Also this printers doesn't work with HPLIP. Only with foo2zjs and only if HPLIP

This bug is continuation of the bug 217215. To avoid any problems

(and created the new bug entry)

  Clean account means:
  1) Remove hplip*, foo2zjs, footomatic package.
  2) Remove any further files related to hp1018
  find /usr/share -name *1018*
  ./foo2zjs/firmware/sihp1018.img
  ./ppd/hpijs/HP/hp_laserjet_1018-hpijs.ppd
  3) Remove orphaned /usr/share/hplip directory

After restarting the printer a system message appear pointing that new
hardware had been installed and suggesting that hpijs package support the HP
1018 printer.
  I:
  - installed hpijs with depends
  - Ran Printer configure tool: a driver for HP 1018 hadn't been found
  - so I chose suggested HP 1015 driver
  - printer didn't react for send packages.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 329898] Re: The HP 1018 printer not work out of the box if used non-US locale

2014-10-16 Thread Gannet
Another one example. Today I've been suffered trying to install LaserJet
1000 series on Xubuntu 14.04. The same problem. Only deleting hplip from
system makes possible printer to get it's firmware loaded. Also I should
download its firmware by 'getweb 1000 command'. So there are definitely
some kind of conflict between Foomatic and HPLIP causes printer firmware
not to load.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 329898] Re: The HP 1018 printer not work out of the box if used non-US locale

2014-10-09 Thread Gannet
Don't know what to say but now I'm discovered following when lj1018 is
connected:

dmesg | grep error
[ 1.816037] usb 2-6: device descriptor read/64, error -71
[ 2.044065] usb 2-6: device descriptor read/64, error -71

[ 2.616071] usb 2-6: device descriptor read/64, error -71
[ 3.248060] usb 2-6: device not accepting address 5, error -71
[ 3.776018] usb 2-6: device not accepting address 6, error -71
[ 20.036039] usb 7-2: device descriptor read/64, error -110
[ 35.252025] usb 7-2: device descriptor read/64, error -110
[ 50.580043] usb 7-2: device descriptor read/64, error -110
[ 65.796033] usb 7-2: device descriptor read/64, error -110
[ 71.033270] usb 7-2: device descriptor read/8, error -110
[ 76.157437] usb 7-2: device descriptor read/8, error -110
[ 81.393610] usb 7-2: device descriptor read/8, error -110
[ 86.513777] usb 7-2: device descriptor read/8, error -110

Is this hardware issue or not ? I tried different usb-ports with the
same result. Running lsusb gives long thinking. ON/OFF printer helps but
if reconnect it to another port it is also thinking long and not
displaying printer at last.

And the interesting thing is that if I completely remove HPLIP and
install lj1018 with Foomatic driver IT WORKS WELL although device

  - Ran Printer configure tool: a driver for HP 1018 hadn't been found
  - so I chose suggested HP 1015 driver
  - printer didn't react for send packages.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 329898] Re: The HP 1018 printer not work out of the box if used non-US locale

2014-10-02 Thread Gannet
After hplip-3.14.6 was installed printer worked well. Then I connected
another one - HP DeskJet 2050. And it also automatically worked well.
But after I rebooted my system LJ1018 again could not print test page.
Hp-check was runed and you can see their output in attachment. HPLIP
icon in tray also from time-to-time says:

HP_LaserJet_1018 Printer (KP39HE7) Device communication error (5012).

Bug description:
This bug is continuation of the bug 217215. To avoid any problems
related to attempts describe I decided to start with 'clean account'.
(and created the new bug entry)

  Clean account means:
  1) Remove hplip*, foo2zjs, footomatic package.
  2) Remove any further files related to hp1018
  find /usr/share -name *1018*
  ./foo2zjs/firmware/sihp1018.img
  ./ppd/hpijs/HP/hp_laserjet_1018-hpijs.ppd
  3) Remove orphaned /usr/share/hplip directory

After restarting the printer a system message appear pointing that new
hardware had been installed and suggesting that hpijs package support the HP
1018 printer.
  I:
  - installed hpijs with depends

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 329898] Re: The HP 1018 printer not work out of the box if used non-US locale

2014-09-13 Thread Gannet
Last time I tried to make 1018 work I should completely remove HPLIP.
Otherwise it seems it can't load firmware to printer after reboot. As a
result I can use only printers that works without HPLIP. So no printer
that works only with HPLIP I can use as a second when 1018 already
installed and working. This is very pity. Why there are still no actions
with this issue ?
