Same for me, I steel need MUTTER_DEBUG_USE_KMS_MODIFIERS=0 to get GDM/Mutter
working properly.
I attach the result of journalctl -e (during failed session), in case it can be
useful ?

MUTTER_DEBUG_USE_KMS_MODIFIERS=0
fixes the issue for me too.
I will give a new try without this variable after update 42.0-1ubuntu1 is

I found nothing in /var/crash but in step 2 here the link :

Now the machine has been upgraded to Impish but transmission always

So I got a crash file but when I try :
ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_usr_bin_transmission-gtk.1000.crash

I click on "Send" in the popup nd... nothing. :-/

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1809564] [NEW] Unfocused tilix window transparency

2018-12-22 Thread Joseph Maillardet

With Yaru theme the background transparency of unfocused Tilix Windows

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1768754] Re: Applications are muted (silent) but system sounds work

2018-12-12 Thread Joseph Maillardet
Has I say in my report : "Graphically, applications react normally, we
can see their connections with pulse audio in the applications tab of
the sound settings. But no sound comes out of the speakers."

At UI level, everything seem to work, application volume is not mutted.
The stranger thing is that gnome feedback sound work where application
sound (mpv, firefox, ...) don't.

Bug description:
  How to reproduce this bug:

  * Connect a laptop to a dock, which is connected to a screen with an HDMI /

  * Then configure the sound to exit through the cable connecting the screen.
  * Turn off the computer

Then, the sound automatically switches to the audio output of the

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1766137] Re: [regression] Password accepted but login fails (blank purple screen and mouse pointer only)

right password. I only encounter problem with second attempt _after_ a
failed first attempt.

Trying to log into my session (Gnome, Xorg), if I enter the wrong
password before entering it correctly, the session doesn't load and I
get a purple screen, a mouse cursor, and an invisible but clickable
menu in the top right. If I enter it correctly the first time, there
  is no problem.

I've replicated this from a fresh boot, after logging out and after
'sudo service gdm restart' from the Ctrl-Alt-F4 console.

This is a fresh install, and didn't occur when I was using a previous

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1766137] Re: [regression] Password accepted but login fails (blank purple screen and mouse pointer only)

2018-04-29 Thread Joseph Maillardet
Same here with a 18.04 upgraded from 17.10

Workaround :
* Hitting Alt+F1 return to GDM who complain about a “login fail” and ask
another time my password.
* Another successful password attempt finally launch Gnome correctly.

Side effect :
* Hitting Alt+F3,4,5,... give me ugly graphic mashup.

Try :
* Uncommenting the line bellow in /etc/gdm3/custom.conf file to use Xorg by
default don't change anything :
#WaylandEnable=false

Note :
* The blanked screen is always GDM, I don't see the top menu-bar but clicking
the right place show the GDM style system menu with only few option like
shutdown button and no user sub-menu
* I not obtain blank purple screen but grey screen because I choose original
Gnome CSS alternative...
`sudo update-alternatives --set gdm3.css
/usr/share/gnome-shell/theme/gnome-shell.css`

Bug description:
WORKAROUND: After typing an incorrect password, click Cancel, then
click your name, then enter your password again.

  ---

Trying to log into my session (Gnome, Xorg), if I enter the wrong
password before entering it correctly, the session doesn't load and I
get a purple screen, a mouse cursor, and an invisible but clickable
menu in the top right. If I enter it correctly the first time, there
  is no problem.

I've replicated this from a fresh boot, after logging out and after
'sudo service gdm restart' from the Ctrl-Alt-F4 console.

This is a fresh install, and didn't occur when I was using a previous
  install of 18.04 (until Friday).

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1767605] [NEW] gnome-session launch fail on first fail, second success, entry of password

2018-04-28 Thread Joseph Maillardet
Public bug reported:

18.04 upgraded from 17.10

If I fail to enter my password correctly on first attempt in GDM, the
following successful attempt fail to launch Gnome. I only obtain a grey
screen freeze.

* Hitting Alt+F3,4,5,... give me an ugly graphic mashup.
* Hitting Alt+F1 return to GDM who complain about a “login fail” and ask
another time my password.
* Another successful password attempt finally launch Gnome correctly.
* Hitting Alt+F3,4,5,... give me again an ugly graphic mashup.
* Hitting Alt+F2 return to my Gnome 3 session.
** I run `apport-bug gdm3` at this moment.

Thanks for your attention.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1698083] Re: Middle-click titlebar actions (like maximizing vertically) don't work in Wayland sessions

2018-04-25 Thread Joseph Maillardet
Observation on Ubuntu 18.04 :
- All work good on Xorg session
- Problem only affect Wayland session
- Classic windows with traditional decoration (chromium, pidgin, inkscape, ...)
accept middle-click action
- GTK3 apps with Headerbar decoration who use CSD (Client Side Decoration)
ignores middle-click
- Don't know why, but Evolution 3.28.1-2 ignores middle-click too (but have
traditional decoration !)

Freedesktop talk about that since December 2016 :

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 113270] Re: Created PPTP connection does not appear in VPN connect menu

2014-11-15 Thread Joseph Maillardet
Fresh install of Ubuntu-Gnome 14.10 (with ppa:gnome3-team/gnome3)

package network-manager-pptp and network-manager-pptp-gnome installed

When trying to add a VPN connexion the VPN submenu of gnome-control-
center/network/+ only display « vpnc » or « import from file » option.

Impossible to add a PPTP connexion.

Public bug reported:

gnome-control-center Details Overview

The ubuntu logo is labeled with ubuntu 13.10 text.

When I access :

I see the ubuntu 14.04 LTS text

When I access :
$ eog /usr/share/gnome-control-center/ui/UbuntuLogo.png

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 997479] Re: Keyboard layout is set to English until Primary keyboard is pressed

2012-10-23 Thread Joseph Maillardet
Find a pig-way to do what I want with GDM (3.6.1) :

Just edit : « /etc/gdm/Init/Default » and put before the « exit 0 » :

setxkbmap layout [option]

With your keyboard layout and eventualy your option

Exemple (for me) : setxkbmap fr latin9

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 972311] Re: Accessing a MTP device like the Galaxy Nexus fails

2012-10-14 Thread Joseph Maillardet
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 903422 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/903422

The « importance : low » of this bug show us how ubuntu team don't
understand that MTP is going to be the main way to access android
devices.

I can't beleave that this problem is not to be solve in a week... I was
able to compil go-mtpfs (thanks Jan). But all my « normal » user can't
and won't do something like compiling ...

shame...

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1010349] Re: Evolution address book inaccessible without killing one time e-addressbook-factory

2012-06-27 Thread Joseph Maillardet
This bug doesn't affect Fedora or Debian Wheezy. It's definitly not a
Gnome bug. The problem came from Ubuntu horrible Gnome 3.2 / 3.4 mix. Do
not integrate full Gnome 3.4 (who's a complete and integrated desktop)
is juste unbeleavable :-/

Gnome 3 lovers is realy sade with Ubuntu.
