MUTTER_DEBUG_USE_KMS_MODIFIERS=0 fixes the issue for me too. I mean, when a Tilix terminal is focused, the transparency settings is correctly applied to the background. But, if the windows loose the focus, the background became opaque. But no sound comes out of the speakers." At UI level, everything seem to work, application volume is not mutted. Same here with a 18.04 upgraded from 17.10 Workaround : * Hitting Alt+F1 return to GDM who complain about a “login fail” and ask another time my password. * Another successful password attempt finally launch Gnome correctly. Side effect : * Hitting Alt+F3,4,5,... give me ugly graphic mashup. Public bug reported: After a fresh boot of my system, Evolution is not able to access my work address book on LDAP and my personnal address book on Google. With Google address book I get the error Cannot open book: Source already loaded! After shutting down Evolution and killing by hand : /usr/lib/evolution/e -addressbook-factory. I relaunch Evolution and everything go right.
