Title:
gnome-screenshot in Gnome 3 captures wrong area and invert image

Status in gnome-screenshot package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  Ubuntu 12.04 beta 2
  Environment : Gnome 3
  gnome-session 3.2.1-0ubuntu6
  gnome-screenshot 3.4.0-0ubuntu1
  kernel 3.2.0-22-generic-pae #35-Ubuntu SMP Tue Apr 3 20:37:36 UTC 2012 i686
i686 i386 GNU/Linux

When a taking a screenshot with gnome-screenshot and selecting to take
"only the current window", the area captured is not the current window
but a part of it and the capture is inverted.

Here is a screenshot to illustrate, gnome-screenshot was supposed to
capture the nautilus window : http://pix.toile-
  libre.org/upload/original/1334060392.png

This only happens on Gnome 3, gnome-screenshot does perfectly well
  when run in Unity.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 881864] [NEW] Regression: Missing backgrounds and emblems in Nautilus 3.2.0/Ubuntu 11.10

2011-10-26 Thread Klaus Rennecke
Public bug reported:

The entire emblems UI in nautilus as described in
http://library.gnome.org/users/user-guide/stable/nautilus-
emblems.html.en linked from the Ubuntu user guide is missing since
upgrading to oneiric. One post in the forum thread
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=11382967 states that the
feature is not present in the version of nautilus used for oneiric. From
a user perspective, this is a severe regressin, especially if she had
organized her files using emblems before.

** Affects: nautilus (Ubuntu)

*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 840072 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/840072

The issue I have is the generic emblems UI in nautilus missing. Re-
checking the history, I noticed that the OP changed this bug's
description and summary himself. So I apologise for raising this issue
here.

I have opened a new entry
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/881864
concerning the emblems UI in nautilus.

May be related to #859104 since it affects libnautilus-extension1 too.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 881864] Re: Regression: Missing backgrounds and emblems in Nautilus 3.2.0/Ubuntu 11.10

2011-10-26 Thread Klaus Rennecke
As far as I can tell after some more looking around, this is an
intentional feature removal in upstream, and no bug entry exists there.
There was a notice to the mailing list http://mail.gnome.org/archives
/nautilus-list/2010-July/msg00023.html and its corresponding commit
http://git.gnome.org/browse/nautilus/commit/?id=915e5523947fe049e06f9bd8574760f6765e8ad7

For the time being, a similar functionality as emblems can be achieved
by changing the complete icon of a file or folder: In the properties
dialog, on the Basic tab, click the icon (it looks like a button for a
reason...) and navigate to an icon of your choice.

*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 840072 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/840072

Installing ubuntuone-client-gnome did not bring back emblems to
nautilus. So I don't see why this bug was hijacked and duplicate marked.
Emblems are still missing after upgrade to oneiric.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 841332] Re: ubuntuone-client-gnome is not suggested/recommended by any package

2011-10-25 Thread Klaus Rennecke
I cannot elaborate on the ubuntuone client situation, because I did no
default install but arrived through upgrade at oneiric. My history says
that its packages have been deinstalled quite a while before the
upgrade; I am not using it. But re-installing did not make the emblems
in nautilus re-appear anyway.

As far as I can tell, the situation is not that emblem files are
missing; the feature itself is entirely absent from nautilus in oneiric.
Therefore I would guess that there is no real relation to ubuntuone.
Remember, the subject of this issue was no more emblems in oneiric.

Apparently I'm not alone, there is a short discussion here
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=11382967

If you would like me to open a new issue to the same effect, attributed
to nautilus exclusively, I'd be glad to comply. The forum suggest in one
of the reply that it's caused by upstream changes though.
