[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1980271] Re: Snap doesn't refresh automatically immediately after snap is quit when update is pending
Not updating Firefox for a long time (due to this bug) is a major vulnerability in Ubuntu... Release the fix already! -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to firefox in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1980271 Title: Snap doesn't refresh automatically immediately after snap is quit when update is pending Status in snapd: Fix Committed Status in firefox package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: Impact / What Currently Happens -- Many people open their chosen web browser (Firefox or Chromium) immediately after logging in and keep the app running continuously. Eventually, there will be a snap update available. The system notifies that there is a pending update and to "Close the app to avoid notifications." Most people will eventually close the app, but the pending update is not applied until the next snap refresh is attempted which could be hours away. This is a frustrating experience because it feels like the notification is not helpful. I think many users would prefer the snap to just update silently in the background with little or no notification. Test Case - From Ubuntu 22.04 LTS with the Firefox snap installed by default Keep Firefox running Wait for a new Firefox release (happens at least monthly) Receive a notification about a pending update for Firefox Close Firefox Wait a few minutes Open Firefox Workaround -- Close the app that needs to be updated Open a terminal and run this command: snap refresh Other Info -- This issue was mentioned in the original post and in the first comment at https://forum.snapcraft.io/t/refresh-app-awareness-call-for-testing/29123 Suggested Mitigation Would it help to run a `snap refresh` immediately after Ubuntu is booted? However the device is working correctly: * lsmod | grep iwlwifi, lspci -v, lshw, dmesg | grep iwlwifi all show that its driver iwlwifi is in use * ls /lib/firmware/*9260* show that the appropriate firmware files are present And I am indeed writing this bug report connected to an ac (5 GHz) wifi network, where I can verify a ~130-160 Mbps download speed, so software-properties-gtk shouldn't report the device as not working and suggest manually installing a driver. Not sure why it says so? [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1244090] Re: Pressing any global keyboard shortcut causes temporary loss of focus
Ubuntu 19.10, I want to delete words with Ctrl + backspace from Trello board name, but it loses focus. - trello.com. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to unity-settings-daemon in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1244090 Title: Pressing any global keyboard shortcut causes temporary loss of focus Status in Mutter: Confirmed Status in compiz package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in gnome-settings-daemon package in Ubuntu: Triaged Status in gnome-shell package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in mutter package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in unity-settings-daemon package in Ubuntu: Triaged Status in gnome-settings-daemon package in ALT Linux: Unknown Status in gnome-shell package in Fedora: Confirmed Status in gnome package in openSUSE: Unknown Bug description: When pressing any global keyboard shourtcut (configurable via System settings -> Keyboard -> Shortcuts; i.e. for switching keyboard layout, volume up/down), focus temporary switches from active text input to something else, then restores back shortly. Maybe even active window loses focus, but window frame does not shows this (window header remains to look active). For example: when I press ctrl+shift here to switch keyboard layout, when writing this description, yellow frame disappears from text input box, text caret disappears too; they appear again when releasing ctrl+shift. The same occurs in all other programs, i.e. terminal. It causes serious annoyance, for example in Twitter when losing focus in Reply text box, reply rolls up and I have to click it again with mouse and set caret to correct place each time I switch keyboard layouts. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1862536] Re: problem with folder selection dialog in google drive with firefox
Also the firefox menu and the "More tools" overlow menu didn't open on click, just the buttons became darker as on hover over them. Ctrl Q worked to exit the browser however. On restart everything was okay. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to firefox in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1862536 Title: problem with folder selection dialog in google drive with firefox Status in firefox package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: I have tried to move two many pictures (about 100 maybe) from nautilus to google drive, first time google drive didn't react to my move of the pictures above the page, so i tried again, and it also didn't react this time. After that i said "this won't work", so i clicked their button to upload a folder. The folder upload menu showed, but i noticed that on the left in the list where "Home", "Downloads", etc. are there was one folder which didn't have a name but only an icon. I decided it was a bug so i closed the folder upload dialog from Ubuntu and selected it again to open. The page became darker as when the backdrop that is shown when the folder upload dialog is visible. The bug is that the folder upload dialog that should have shown the second time was missing and only the backdrop was shown. Page didn't react. That was until i pressed ESC key and the backdrop disappeared. After the backdrop disappeared the firefox html element with the upload icon and the text "Drop elements here to upload" finally showed unexpectedly after 2 minutes. Notice that i didn't move any files now, i moved them before the standard Ubuntu folder dialog bug. Firefox scrolling then became slow and lags in each tab, not only Google Drive tab. Also now when i am typing into the launchpad bug input the text is inserting with noticeable delay. Seems to be a FIrefox bug as text in gedit text editor enters as soon as i press any key. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1862536] [NEW] problem with folder selection dialog in google drive with firefox
Public bug reported: I have tried to move two many pictures (about 100 maybe) from nautilus to google drive, first time google drive didn't react to my move of the pictures above the page, so i tried again, and it also didn't react this time.
