[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1615393] Re: 16.04 sane no longer sees network scanner

2016-09-03 Thread Paul Carmichael
Oh, you're upset.

The last time I contacted Samsung over something, they guessed wrong and
it cost me 100 euros and the problem not resolved.

So you think that this problem has nothing to do with moving to 16.04?
Actually, loads of stuff broke on this machine and my server was bricked
by the upgrade.

Still, never mind, eh.

Oh, and I strongly suspect that the driver I just installed was for a
locally connected machine. But there's no documentation as far as I can
see, so I can't be sure.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1615393] Re: 16.04 sane no longer sees network scanner

2016-09-03 Thread Paul Carmichael
Exactly. I didn't do anything on the linux box. Every machine on the
subnet could see it. The windows boxes still can. I presume the scanner
and printer interfaces are different protocols as the printer still
works fine.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1615393] Re: 16.04 sane no longer sees network scanner

2016-09-03 Thread Paul Carmichael
Ok. It's a Samsung C460FW (standalone colour laser multi). Like I said,
14.04 would see it as soon as I opened xsane. I would be offered the
choice of the Samsung or the local Canon. As soon as I moved to 16.04,
it no longer sees the local Canon (separate bug), so it would have been
nice to have been able to use the Samsung instead, but it is no longer
visible. Now I have to start a Windows box to be able to scan.

Incidentally, the Ubuntu box can still use the printer as before. Just
cannot scan.

2016-09-02 Thread Paul Carmichael
I don't know how to re-open the bug. Somebody has not understood the
bug. It is not a "saned networked printer/scanner", rather a standalone
Samsung networked printer/scanner. I ran that apport thing and it came
up with nothing.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1389638] [NEW] Evolution forgets ssl cert password

2014-11-05 Thread Paul Carmichael
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 14.04
evolution 3.10.4-0ubuntu2

Each day, the first time I send an email (ssl on by default) I get asked
for the ssl cert password. It is then remembered for the rest of that
session/day.

This bug has just appeared with the upgrade to 14.04. I was never asked
for it before.

Is the bug Evolution or Keyring? I have no idea. But I don't get asked
for passwords for anything else.

Disabling the preview pane prevents this from occurring, but it
