The last time I contacted Samsung over something, they guessed wrong and
it cost me 100 euros and the problem not resolved.

So you think that this problem has nothing to do with moving to 16.04?
Actually, loads of stuff broke on this machine and my server was bricked
by the upgrade.

Still, never mind, eh.

Oh, and I strongly suspect that the driver I just installed was for a
locally connected machine. But there's no documentation as far as I can
see, so I can't be sure.

  16.04 sane no longer sees network scanner

Status in sane-backends package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  14.04 used to see and access my Samsung Multifunction Xpress C460FW
  networked scanner. 16.04 doesn't see it. I don't see any windows
  shares either.
