Public bug reported: Standard Unity. Have a laptop on a docking station, with a second monitor connected. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 704123] Re: PIN is asked despite it's configured into the system connection
This bug still occurs on precise, using 0.9.4. I can connect (without using the PIN), the PIN is entered in the configuration, but while connected it prompts to enter the pin, then states that the PIN cannot be applied while connected. I disconnect, then apply unlock, and can connect again. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to network-manager in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/704123 Title: PIN is asked despite it's configured into the system connection Status in “network-manager” package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Bug description: Binary package hint: network-manager I've configured a system-wide 3g broadband connection. In fact it's there a file with all the provided details in /etc/NetworkManager/system-connections/ . If I switch (log-out + log-in) to a non-administrative user, as soon as I plug the USB 3G modem I get asked the modem PIN. This is included into the mentioned file. Distributor ID: Ubuntu Description: Ubuntu 10.10 Release: 10.10 Codename: maverick How to reproduce the bug: 1. Log in as an administrative user (the first one you create at installation time) 2. Plug the USB 3G modem into a port 3. Go to System--Preferences--Newtwork Connections--Mobile Broadband 4. Fill all the needed details (as well as the PIN) 5. Check Automatically connect and Available to all users 6. Test the connection is working. 7. Check the file in /etc/NetworkManager/system-connections/ 8. Reboot (maybe just logout and long is enough) 9. Log in as the administrative user 10. Plug the USB modem What happens The system asks for the PIN. You can ignore this request. Then you can go to the netowrk icon and select the broadband connection and click it. This time the PIN is not required and the connection fires up. What is expected to happen No PIN is required at the modem insertion and the connection fires up automatically. Extra steps. 11. Create another non administrative user which is capable to connect through modems (groups dialout and dip). 12. Switch to this new user 13. Plug the USB modem. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 963943] [NEW] nm overrides LAN dns settings: host lookups on LAN fail.
Public bug reported: There is a local network, with two DNS servers, and a DHCP server. They are both correctly configured and entirely functional, with correct zoning (bind9) for split-horizon DNS. This has been a working configuration for years. DHCP is configured so that clients use these internal DNS servers. There is no configuration in /etc/network/interfaces, so this is entirely run by network-manager. When the wireless configuration comes up, rather than pointing at the LAN dns servers, it points at 127.0.0.1. I can identify no process providing the caching servics, ps -ax | grep ns, name, bind, all come up empty. Whatever is doing name resolution, it is not using the LAN's DNS servers, because none of the internal zone entries are available. While public name resolution works, ssh to other systems on the LAN fail because the internal zone host names are never found. Whatever is doing name resolution, it is not using the LAN's DNS servers, because none of the internal zone entries are available. While public name resolution works, ssh to other systems on the LAN fail because the internal zone host names are never found. If I manually place the local dns servers in /etc/resolv.conf, everything works fine for a few minutes, when something overwrites it back to 127.0.0.1 ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 12.04 Package: network-manager 0.9.3.995+git201203152001.04b2a74-0ubuntu1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.2.0-18.29-generic 3.2.9 Uname: Linux 3.2.0-18-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 1.95-0ubuntu1 Architecture: amd64 Date: Sat Mar 24 09:55:26 2012 IfupdownConfig: auto lo iface lo inet loopback InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 12.04 LTS Precise Pangolin - Beta amd64 (20120301) NetworkManager.state: [main] NetworkingEnabled=true WirelessEnabled=true WWANEnabled=true WimaxEnabled=true ProcEnviron: LANGUAGE=en_CA:en TERM=xterm PATH=(custom, user) LANG=en_CA.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash SourcePackage: network-manager UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/network-manager/+bug/963943/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages Post to : desktop-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

obsolete bug. ** Changed in: network-manager (Ubuntu) Status: New = Fix Released -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to network-manager in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/549587 Title: unable to connect to WPA, erratic secrets Status in “network-manager” package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Bug description: Binary package hint: network-manager boule% lsb_release -rd Description:Ubuntu lucid (development branch) Release:10.04 boule% WPA wireless N network(Linksys DIR-655 router, WPA) was working reliably under Karmic Kubuntu using either knetworkmanager or nm-applet. Since upgrade to Lucid, it is very difficult to connect using: knetworkmanager, and/or nm-applet. (started trying the others because knetworkmanager was at around 10% success rate.) nm-applet seems to work more often than the others, but it is still only, perhaps 30% successful. I downloaded cnetworkmanager (python line mode api to dbus/networkmanager) to better see what is going on, similar rate of success to nm-applet none of the tools seem to store the SSID password anymore, always have to re-enter it manually. What is the correct kde network manager applet: network-manager-kde (kwifimanager) or the plasmoid? Regardless of method, they see the SSID, and try to connect, but rarely succeed just hang in ´connecting´ or ´activating´ and eventually give up. Often resorting to hard-wired connection. I have two desktop systems that are not intended to ever go into sleep mode.
