[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1841440] [NEW] Radio streaming reconnect with exponential backoff

2019-08-26 Thread Sasa Stamenkovic
Public bug reported:

When streaming radio (e.g. http://91.121.222.81:8416/listen.mp3) and
there is a streaming error (tend to happen often with most stations),
instead of displaying error popup, try to reconnect. It's a good
practice to try several times with exponential backoff.

Without this, playback is stopped until user comes back to compuiter and
hits play again, which will work in 99%, but is a drag.

** Affects: rhythmbox (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

  On a high DPI screen (220 DPI) the mouse cursor is really tiny when
  hovering unity elements. There are various keys in dconf to change the
  cursor's scale factor or size. I've managed to change it in a way that
  it looks normal when inside application windows, but its still tiny
  when on unity elements.

  I think this should be set automatically by the scale factor setting
  in system settings.

  (Using unity 7.3.1+14.10.20140811-0ubuntu1)

  [Test Case]

   * Log in
   * Launch Firefox
   * Move the mouse over the panel or the launcher,
     then back over the Firefox window.
   * Cursor should always be of the same size

  [Regression Potential]

   * Mouse cursors might appear wrong for some actions

@Treviño I only now saw your message.

I still have this issue, and I am restartgin unity on each boot. But
that have other bad consequences, like Alt+F4 stops working.

Can you point me at right ppa? What should I run in terminal in order to
get this fix?

Thanks.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1359211] Re: Mouse cursor tiny when hovering unity elements in high DPI mode

2015-12-12 Thread Sasa Stamenkovic
Just installed Ubuntu 15.10 on Asus Zenbook, and I am facing exactly
same issue.

Adding Xcursor*size: 48 to /etc/X11/Xresources/x11-common didn't work
for me, restarting unity helps, but after reboot it happens again.

Is there any other workaround?

I see adding export XCURSOR_SIZE=48 somewhere in unity startup code is
alternative approach, can someone please hint me where can I add this?

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 992154] Re: Unable to interpret cyrillic encoding

--

Title:
  Unable to interpret cyrillic encoding

Status in “rhythmbox” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  As described in the question by user tigra:
  "I have problem with view russian names of files in rhythmbox. Names of files
and additional information in files is not readable. Cyrillic encoding problem?
My system is ubuntu 7.04. Files stored on NTFS. "

  I think this deserves to be looked at as a bug, since most users will
  see it as such without thinking about needing to reencode file names
  nor knowing that this is possible or how to do it.

  Since Rhythmbox is now again the standard music player for Ubuntu, I
  believe it should expand its support for file name character encodings
  if possible.

  Edit: Seeing as how the related question is put so far down on
  Launchpad, I will post the link here too. It describes a work-around,
  which is not for non-technical users:

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1075516] [NEW] Copy hangs in local network

2012-11-06 Thread Sasa Stamenkovic
Public bug reported:

I copy files from one Ubuntu system to another.They are both in local

I shared entire dir on one, and tried to copy some files to another. It
works for some time and then it just hangs at some point.

Here is the example screenshot, it just hangs like this
http://i.stack.imgur.com/KAaHA.png.

After I cancel, Nautilus icon in lauchbar keeps progress bar, so I guess
there is some problem.

If you need any additional info, logs or whatever is required to
reproduce and fix this bug, I can provide it.

  Hi there,

there are few bug reports similar to this one but from their
  description I feel like this is a little different.

I use three different keyboard layouts, switching between them with
  shortcut and having "Allow different layouts for individual windows"
  option enabled. In this configuration layout switch should be
  processed when shortcut is triggered or when I switch to another
  window. Moreover "to switch layout" means two things. Firstly it means
  to switch keyboard mappings themself and secondly to change what
  layout indicator shows.

The problem itself: mappings which is used is often not the same as
  indicator shows. I experimented a little to find out what is wrong and
  now I see that the mistake is in processing switch-window event which
  always changes mappings used but doesn't refresh what indicator is
  showing...

Sometimes it's quite annoying as nearly all bugs reported here :)

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 884136] Re: Gedit icon is missing

2011-12-01 Thread Sasa Stamenkovic
Ah, ok.

After removing .desktop files and restarting session, problem is solved.

Everything works now except now Epiphany was default app in Nautilus
instead Gedit, but that was easy to change.

I don't know how come I have 4 .desktop files for Gedit, probably
updates, uninstall/install.

Thanks.

>cat userapp-gedit-4H0OVV.desktop

[Desktop Entry]
Encoding=UTF-8
Version=1.0
Type=Application
Exec=gedit %f
Name=gedit
Comment=Custom definition for gedit
NoDisplay=true

// And all 4 files look same.

>mkdir bak
>mv userapp-gedit-* bak/

After I moved files, when I open gedit it does not show up in Alt+Tab
preview, and it is not selected in launcher menu. So when I leave
window, I can't return back to it. Problem resists even if I move
.desktop diles back.

So now I have new problem. Any idea?

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 884136] Re: Gedit icon is missing

2011-12-01 Thread Sasa Stamenkovic
Another thing I noticed.

When Gedit is opened from launcher, it has icon, then when I open some
file from Nautilus (double click) it opens file in a new window instead
in a new tab in already opened Gedit instance. Is this expected
behavior?

I'm afraid I have two Gedits installed, one invalid used by Nautilus (no
icon), and one regular run from launcher.
