** Tags added: champagne -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to mutter in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1870758 Title: [nvidia] Display scaling results in a blank screen (power save state) Status in mutter package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in nvidia-graphics-drivers-440 package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: Working on fully updated focal fossy Procedure to make bug happen: 1. open gnome control center and select screen (skærme in danish) 2. click the "fractional scaling" switch 3. select 150% scaling and click the green button at top right 4. Result is a blank screen and the monitor going into a power save state A reboot doesn't help. The login screen appears, when I log in the screen goes blank again and the monitor power save kicks in. If I select the "unity" environment, the display does work. If I do this on the command line "gsettings set org.gnome.mutter experimental-features ['']", I can log in as usual and fractional scaling has been turned off. The suggested solution is shown in the attached image 'globalOptionsPlacement.png' Following the 'Rotation' drop-down list there is a vertical gap of 12px. There then follows a 2px wide rule, #B8B8B8 RGB(184, 184, 184) for the top colour and #FCFCFC RGB(252, 252, 252) for the bottom colour. This design shows the expanded and collapsed states of both the Dash category headers and search filter sections, and also the exact desired positioning and alignment (basically the See more... text is baselined, and the expand/contract arrows are always centred relative to the directly proceeding text). - Adjust size/position of dash elements until they exactly match the design. This can be tested by overlaying the attached design with some opacity on top of a screenshot of the dash in GIMP. To reproduce: 1. Open any window and make it maximised. 2. What you should see: - The background of the top bar (just the dark bar without any emblems or app title, effectively just the top bar texture) should remain in place, and you should *NOT* be able to see the background wallpaper. For clarity, this change does not change the dash in any way, we are only changing the background *behind* the dash. Desired solution: - *ONLY* in the case where there is a maximised window, the top bar background should be displayed when the Dash is open. - When there is no maximised window the top bar background should not be displayed (as currently happens) - The attached images ambiance_topbar.png and radiance_topbar.png show *exactly* the effect we are trying to achieve To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ayatana-design/+bug/839480/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages Post to : desktop-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 872207] Re: When Firefox is running in Unity, drop-down menus sometime close when opened
I believe that Sam may have fixed this bug already. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to firefox in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/872207 Title: When Firefox is running in Unity, drop-down menus sometime close when opened Status in Compiz: Confirmed Status in Unity Distro Priority: Fix Committed Status in “compiz” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in “firefox” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: This is something which used to happen regularly though not always (I switched to using fallback mode for a while because of it). Basically, drop-down menus in Firefox such as RSS feeds (or in Natty without the global menu the normal application menus were affected too) are simply not shown when clicked on. Context menus also fail to appear. This often disappeared for no apparent reason after I had used Firefox for a while. I haven't seen it for a while, but it has just re-appeared, possibly because I started Unity as unity --replace since I am currently testing an application's behaviour with different window managers. I'm sorry if this information is a bit threadbare. Please let me know if I can provide any additional helpful information.
