[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1719322] Re: Remove patch to remove headerbar

By "Xfce doesn't include..." I'll presume you mean Xubuntu, which in
fact does include file-roller. I'd be very disappointed if the
headerbars came back or were restricted to Unity.

Upgraded machine to 16.04beta2 XFCE last night and noticed a problem

If I have previously browsed, selected and connected to a WiFi network
it's properties are stored under 'edit connections'. In my environment
(maybe computer specific or just too many ESSIDs available) networks
do not show up in the browse list sometimes, I could use 'connect to
hidden network' to force a previous connection to start.

Now, with latest 16.04beta, when I attempt to do this the 'connect'
button is greyed out and does not operate.

NOTE: this a problem with the GUI (when requesting action), not with

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1512136] [NEW] Please merge xscreensaver 5.34-1 from Debian

2015-11-01 Thread Unit 193
Public bug reported:

Test build:
https://launchpad.net/~unit193/+archive/ubuntu/staging/+sourcepub/5608954/+listing-archive-extra
Debdiff(s) attached.

Changelog:

xscreensaver (5.34-1) unstable; urgency=medium

  * New upstream release 5.34
- Fixed a crash when hot-swapping monitors while locked.
  (Closes: #802914)
- Fixed some incorrect output from xscreensaver-command -watch.

 -- Tormod Volden Sun, 25 Oct 2015 09:31:21
+0100

xscreensaver (5.33-1) unstable; urgency=low

  * New upstream release 5.33, changes since 5.30:
- New hacks, `geodesicgears', `binaryring', `cityflow', `splitflap'
  and `romanboy'.
- UTF-8 text support (instead of only Latin1) and antialiased text
on X11 with Xft (instead of only on OSX/iOS) in `fontglide',
  `noseguy', `fliptext', `starwars', and `winduprobot'.
  The other text-displaying hacks (`apple2', `phosphor', `xmatrix',
and `gltext') also now accept UTF-8 input, though they convert it
to Latin1 or ASCII. (Closes: #180775)
- `glplanet' now has both day and night maps, and a sharp terminator.
- Fixed a transparency glitch in `winduprobot'.
- Better detection of user activity on modern GNOME systems.
  * xscreensaver*.postrm/postinst/preinst: Remove obsolete parts used in
lenny->squeeze and potato->woody transitions
  * Do not overwrite user-configured /etc/X11/app-defaults/XScreenSaver
Thanks to Bastien Roucariès for initial patch (Closes: #767019)
  * Replace GNOME with MATE in desktop files stub (Closes: #766880, #774539)
  * debian/copyright: Use unique short names for "other" licenses
  * xscreensaver-wrapper.sh: Detect if launched from lightdm session
Thanks to Alexander Gerasiov for patch (Closes: #778470)
  * debian/control: Recommend libgnomeui-0 package for xscreensaver-demo
Thanks to Michael Gilbert for patch (Closes: #661174)
  * debian/rules: Hardcode app-defaults dir for configure

on X11 with Xft (instead of only on OSX/iOS) in `fontglide',
`noseguy', `fliptext', `starwars', and `winduprobot'.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1295207] Re: Migrate to farsight 0.2* / gstreamer 1.0

2015-03-17 Thread Unit 193
Fedora's report shows that they are now using
http://pkgs.fedoraproject.org/cgit/pidgin.git/commit/?id=b6ad37e47b91773314637cdd2b3f25a88f5ef70b
(https://pidgin.im/pipermail/devel/2015-March/023645.html) and I've
partially merged Debian's Pidgin and applied it as a quilt patch with
minor refreshing. It all built and runs fine.

Bug description:

  3) I expect it to depend against the latest farsight/gstreamer 1.0
  4) Instead, it's one of the reasons we still have gstreamer0.10 on the trusty
cd, through libpurple.

It seems upstream already supports building against farstream-0.2 and
gstreamer1.0, see:

should be inhibited. (Xubuntu previously used XScreensaver.)

  Behaviour:
The screensaver blanks the screen (after the timeout that the user defined in
light-locker-settings, by default 10mins) despite the video playing in
fullscreen.

  [Test Case]
Play back a video file in Parole with screenblanking enabled (can be checked
with xset q | grep timeout).

  [Regression potential]
  None apparent, tested in Trusty.

  [Other Info]
A little background: this problem became apparent only in Trusty with the
switch from XScreensaver to light-locker. As light-locker doesn't handle
screenblanking itself but instead relies on X11's builtin screensaver (aka MIT
screensaver extension), it needs xdg-utils/screensaver's support for inhibiting
the blanking. For some reason, xdg-screensaver doesn't support controlling
X11's screensaver extension in Xfce, probably for historical reasons (e.g. most
distros with Xfce use XScreensaver).

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1321869] Re: xmllint 2.9.1+dfsg1-3ubuntu4.1 does not load entities any more

2014-06-12 Thread Unit 193
With the curent patch, and libxml2 (2.9.1+dfsg1-3ubuntu4.2), xubuntu-
docs still will not build and validate. To fix this problem, I used the
upstream patch here:
https://git.gnome.org/browse/libxml2/commit/?id=dd8367da17c2948981a51e52c8a6beb445edf825
and rebuilt.

When initially lauched alsamixer in terminal it showed as file or
directory does not exist. I reinstalled asla-utils package and ran
rm /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.local.conf, which fixed the problem in
12.04. This time it did not; alsamixer shows in terminal, but with
the message this sound device does not have any controls, no sound
in system, or loudspeaker icon in taskbar.

Is this a bug or faulty config?

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 932177] Re: WARNING: gnome-keyring:: couldn't connect to PKCS11

2012-04-30 Thread Unit 193
As found in one upstream bug, you can use a temporary fix/workaround for Xfce
by doing
sudo sed -i.bak 's/OnlyShowIn=GNOME;Unity;/OnlyShowIn=GNOME;Unity;XFCE;/g'
/etc/xdg/autostart/gnome-keyring-*.desktop
Then logging out and back in.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 925801] Re: Installing alacarte installs half of GNOME

Title:
Installing alacarte installs half of GNOME

Status in “alacarte” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
Installing alacarte in Xubuntu installs half of GNOME, including Unity
and Compiz. This can be worked around by using --no-install-
recommends, but since alacarte is a menu editor that should work with
all desktop environments, this shouldn't be needed.

The packages which ultimately lead to installing Unity and Compiz
should be removed from recommends. If that is not possible (something
in Alacarte breaks when doing that), the parts that Alacarte need
should probably be moved to their own packages.

This happens at least on 11.10.
