This isn't very obvious and having this option near the Empty Wastebasket menu item doesn't help. Since the search window already has a Reload button, would it be possible to add a Save As button below it? This would be more intuitive and easier to find. Steps to reproduce: 1) Log in to the remote server using ssh in a terminal $ ssh username@server 1) Create a directory $ mkdir test 2) Create a file inside that directory $ cd test $ touch file 3) Revoke the execute permission on that directory $ cd .. $ chmod -x test 4) Open the ssh server using Nautilus File - Connect to Server... 5) Open that directory using Nautilus What I expected: Nautilus should show some kind of visual clue that the user doesn't have the necessary permissions to open that directory. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 969548] Re: Nautilus crashes by opening two or mode tabs
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is either missing or challenging to deal with as a .crash file. Please follow these instructions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can be dealt with by the automatic retracer. If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable apport in /etc/default/apport and restart. Now open your file manager, navigate to your /var/crash directory and open the crash report you wish to submit. If this fails you will have to open a terminal and file your report with 'ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash' where _my_crash_report.crash is the crash you would like to report. If you get an error that you aren't allowed to access this report you will have to file it with 'sudo ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash'. I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more efficiently. Thanks in advance for your cooperation and understanding. ** Changed in: nautilus (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to nautilus in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/969548 Title: Nautilus crashes by opening two or mode tabs Status in “nautilus” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: After opening a new folder in a new tab nautilus needs always a few seconds to collect all data of this new directory (cursor shows rotating symbol during this time). We have appoximately 4 users in the passwords file and 16000 lines in the group file. Having looked at the source, it appears to me the problem is that for each user is pulls from the password database (via getpwXXX) its then calls getgroups to return the users list of groups. Getgroups must make a complete pass through the group file to determine the groups for the user. When initializing this results in reading the groups file 4 times. I think a better solution is to build a inverted group file map then first time getgroups is called by reading the entire group database and building a data structure indexed by username where a users group list can by found in a single lookup. Of couse, an even better solution would be for getgroups to do that itself, but that would require much larger code changes. I tried installed nscd to see if this would make a difference but no dice. At the moment, 11.10 is unusable for us because of this problem. Hope this is all the info you need. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 956210] Re: gnome-system-log sometimes crashes on opening a log file
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is either missing or challenging to deal with as a .crash file. Please follow these instructions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can be dealt with by the automatic retracer. If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable apport in /etc/default/apport and restart. Now open your file manager, navigate to your /var/crash directory and open the crash report you wish to submit. If this fails you will have to open a terminal and file your report with 'ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash' where _my_crash_report.crash is the crash you would like to report. If you get an error that you aren't allowed to access this report you will have to file it with 'sudo ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash'. I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more efficiently. Thanks in advance for your cooperation and understanding. ** Changed in: gnome-utils (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gnome-utils in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/956210 Title: gnome-system-log sometimes crashes on opening a log file Status in “gnome-utils” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: Crashed on Ubuntu 11.04 as well. *** glibc detected *** gnome-system-log: free(): invalid next size (fast): 0x084d9930 *** === Backtrace: = /lib/i386-linux-gnu/libc.so.6(+0x6ff22)[0xbf9f22] /lib/i386-linux-gnu/libc.so.6(+0x70bc2)[0xbfabc2] /lib/i386-linux-gnu/libc.so.6(cfree+0x6d)[0xbfdcad] /lib/i386-linux-gnu/libglib-2.0.so.0(+0x49c1b)[0x22dc1b] /lib/i386-linux-gnu/libglib-2.0.so.0(g_free+0x36)[0x22def6] /lib/i386-linux-gnu/libglib-2.0.so.0(g_strfreev+0x41)[0x247e51] gnome-system-log[0x8050453] gnome-system-log[0x80558e7] /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/libgio-2.0.so.0(+0x510a6)[0x3540a6] /lib/i386-linux-gnu/libglib-2.0.so.0(+0x3f110)[0x223110] /lib/i386-linux-gnu/libglib-2.0.so.0(g_main_context_dispatch+0x1df)[0x22725f] /lib/i386-linux-gnu/libglib-2.0.so.0(+0x43990)[0x227990] /lib/i386-linux-gnu/libglib-2.0.so.0(g_main_loop_run+0x14b)[0x227f9b] /usr/lib/libgtk-3.so.0(gtk_main+0xa5)[0x7ec065] gnome-system-log[0x804f3ad] /lib/i386-linux-gnu/libc.so.6(__libc_start_main+0xf3)[0xba3113] gnome-system-log[0x804f449] === Memory map: 0011-00186000 r-xp 08:01 262813 /usr/lib/libgdk-3.so.0.200.0 00186000-00188000 r--p 00075000 08:01 262813 /usr/lib/libgdk-3.so.0.200.0 00188000-00189000 rw-p 00077000 08:01 262813 /usr/lib/libgdk-3.so.0.200.0 00189000-001d r-xp 08:01 264248 /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/libpango-1.0.so.0.2903.0 001d-001d1000 r--p 00047000 08:01 264248 /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/libpango-1.0.so.0.2903.0 001d1000-001d2000 rw-p 00048000 08:01 264248 /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/libpango-1.0.so.0.2903.0 001d2000-001dd000 r-xp 08:01 278719 /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/libpangocairo-1.0.so.0.2903.0 001dd000-001de000 r--p a000 08:01 278719 /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/libpangocairo-1.0.so.0.2903.0 001de000-001df000 rw-p b000 08:01 278719 /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/libpangocairo-1.0.so.0.2903.0 001df000-001e1000 r-xp 08:01 263748 /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/libXinerama.so.1.0.0 001e1000-001e2000 r--p 1000 08:01 263748 /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/libXinerama.so.1.0.0 001e2000-001e3000 rw-p 2000 08:01 263748 /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/libXinerama.so.1.0.0 001e3000-001e4000 r-xp 00:00 0 [vdso] 001e4000-002db000 r-xp 08:01 131428 /lib/i386-linux-gnu/libglib-2.0.so.0.3000.0 002db000-002dc000 r--p 000f6000 08:01 131428 /lib/i386-linux-gnu/libglib-2.0.so.0.3000.0 002dc000-002dd000 rw-p 000f7000 08:01 131428 /lib/i386-linux-gnu/libglib-2.0.so.0.3000.0 002dd000-002f r-xp 08:01 131372 /lib/i386-linux-gnu/libz.so.1.2.3.4 002f-002f1000 r--p 00012000 08:01 131372 /lib/i386-linux-gnu/libz.so.1.2.3.4 002f1000-002f2000 rw-p 00013000 08:01 131372 /lib/i386-linux-gnu/libz.so.1.2.3.4 002f2000-002f6000 r-xp 08:01 263575 /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/libXfixes.so.3.1.0 002f6000-002f7000 r--p 3000 08:01 263575 /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/libXfixes.so.3.1.0 002f7000-002f8000 rw-p 4000 08:01 263575 /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/libXfixes.so.3.1.0 002f8000-002fb000 r-xp 08:01 266885 /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/libgmodule-2.0.so.0.3000.0 002fb000-002fc000 r--p 2000 08:01 266885 /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/libgmodule-2.0.so.0.3000.0 002fc000-002fd000 rw-p 3000 08:01 266885 /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/libgmodule-2.0.so.0.3000.0 002fe000-00301000 r-xp 08:01 263130

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 962701] Re: samsung k3jqb(mtp) sync library crashes
** Changed in: rhythmbox (Ubuntu) Status: New = Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to rhythmbox in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/962701 Title: samsung k3jqb(mtp) sync library crashes Status in “rhythmbox” package in Ubuntu: Invalid Bug description: I have installed all of the mtp library. But file-roller read every file as UTF-8, so it sometimes makes encoding problem. I think may be, you could think that it's not a big problem or it's not a bug or we don't need those feature. If you deal with only English it's not a problem at all. But it's a big problem for East Asian people such as Chinese, Japanese and Korean. Because zip file is still popular. And many people compress zip file in Windows, and share the zip files. Windows don't use UTF-8. Many CJK people want to uncompress these zip files. There are some way to solve this problem (by another software). But all are too complex to Ubuntu newbies. I wish file-roller support encoding select function.
