[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1323879] [NEW] Unity dash does not include sufficient space for all label in spanish when filtering results
Public bug reported: When the system language is set to Spanish (es) using unity-control- center's language subsection, the Unity dash, as expected, uses Spanish localizations. However, when viewing the options to filter results under applications (but not under the option for all results) the buttons for all are displayed next to the category and source selections. While they should say Todo or Todos, this is cut off to To This presents a usability limitation, as even with experience using the Unity Dash in English, it took a few seconds for me to realize the meaning and use of those buttons. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1320767] Re: Users unable to change default home page, address http://www.yahoo.com/?fr=dell_lin-home keeps coming back
It seems that Dell themselves modify the firefox data directory, and as such, the bug may need to be reported to them; It is most likely beyond the scope of the developers here. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to firefox in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1320767 Title: Users unable to change default home page, address http://www.yahoo.com/?fr=dell_lin-home keeps coming back Status in “firefox” package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: I have recommended pre-installed Dell laptops to many new Ubuntu users. One of them started to complain a few weeks ago that the start page of Firefox is http://www.yahoo.com/?fr=dell_lin-home and it is impossible to change. Indeed, when I tested to change default search engine or URL of the home page the UI of Firefox allows me to do it, but once Firefox is restarted all those settings are lost and Yahoo comes back as the default search engine and home page URL is set to http://www.yahoo.com/?fr=dell_lin-home. This is really bad, because the Finnish users in question really have no interest in US-centric nonsense entertainment news from Yahoo and none of the content is in Finnish. I've deactivated the http://dell.archive.canonical.com/updates/ respository and de-installed the Dell packages that look safe to remove, and I did delete ~/.mozilla/firefox to make sure it is really a system wide problem that presists. I haven't found out what package injects these behaviour in Firefox. What are the options, what can be done? [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1312642] [NEW] Windows do not respect the Unity top-bar
Public bug reported: On a new Trusty installation, many windows trying to open at what apparently is a default position of the top screen (this happening with multiple applications, including Firefox), end up placing their title bars directly under the Unity top bar. This causes the window to be immovable without the use of [alt]+[space]. Often this occurs with older, non-Unity-aware applications, as well as Firefox popup windows (the screenshot popups on appdb.winehq.org being one example). I've not reconfigured Firefox beyond setting a home-page, and have not used any sort of compiz or Unity tweaking package. I would expect either the window to be moved downward to avoid the overlap, or for the topbar to convert to the menubar (as is seen when windows are maximised).
