[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1765390] Re: printer settings: add switch for disable autodetect and add

2019-04-29 Thread klinge
Me to: "I miss a switch in the printer settings to disable automatic
detection and adding."

I'm running Ubuntu 18.04.2 and under http://localhost:631/printers/ there are
only the printers I actually installed manually.
In gnome-settings all printers in the network are constantly added and it is
impossible to remove them. This is pretty annoying.

Title:
printer settings: add switch for disable autodetect and add

Status in gnome-control-center package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
First and most important problem: I miss a switch in the printer
settings to disable automatic detection and adding.

I have problems on the VM in the company, because after system startup
masses of printer messages appear and annoy me. I also have the
problem that I am no longer able to find the printer I would need in
the whole series of other unwanted printers. It would be easier if I
only had to use the default printer, but unfortunately this is not the
  case.

Another problem is adding a printer:
It is easy to obtain the IP address of the printer. In the Add dialog there
is a text in the search bar that says that I could insert an IP address. But
that doesn't work. I need to go to "additional printer settings". Here I can
add an IP address, but it must be an address starting with "ipp://"? Why do I
have to do this? IP address is IP address, The program should find the protocol
that it needs itself!

Then I have to choose HPLIB and two AppSocket.
For a printer that wasn't supported, I first had to enter the printer details
and scroll through a shitty long list of printers and research that a Cannon iR
is a Cannon Image Runner.
In the end I had to download a ppd file from canon. (This was an adventure of
its own, which has nothing to do with Linux). Now I have a printer that works
and has been renamed with special text to get it to the top of the big list of
unwanted printers in the system.

I have the same problem. Setting "CreateIPPPrinterQueues" to "No"
doesn't change anything.

I'm running Ubuntu 18.04.2 and under http://localhost:631/printers/ only
the manually added printers show up. The gnome settings or avahi or
something else keeps constantly adding all the printers in the network
(and that is quite annoying.

  Description:
I have slide shows with embeded video files from previous versions of
LibreOffice / Impress and they all worked well. If I play the video files with
Ubuntu 18.04 and LibreOffice 6.0.7.3 they show flickering white stripes. the
stripes are about 1 centimeter wide and move up and down in the picture of the
video.

  Steps to Reproduce:
  1. Embed a video file in a slide show.
  2. Play the slide show / the video.

  Actual Results:
The video plays but shows a disrupted picture with whiteish flickering
stripes.

  Expected Results:
The video should play as it is in a video player whithout a disrupted picture.

It seems to be connected wit hardware acceleration, that is greyed out. The
newest appimage of LibreOffice is working as expected

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1811530] Re: Impress embeded video files show flickering white stripes

2019-01-15 Thread klinge
Is the upstream package the same as in the ppa? If yes, the bug is still
present after updating LO per ppa. If necessary I can test the newest
package from the LO Site as well.

The same applies to the snap package, the bug is present.

Title:
Impress embeded video files show flickering white stripes

Status in libreoffice package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:

It seems to be connected wit hardware acceleration, that is greyed
out. The newest appimage of LibreOffice is working as expected

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1811530] Re: Impress embeded video files show flickering white stripes

2019-01-15 Thread klinge
Running: apport-collect 1811530, produces the following output:
Package libreoffice not installed and no hook available, ignoring
GtkDialog mapped without a transient parent. This is discouraged.

Is it collecting from the snap package? Something obviously went wrong
but I don't know what.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1171175] Re: evince starting with undesired print settings

2016-06-27 Thread klinge
it also affects
Ubuntu 16.04
Evince 3.18.2

it used to be possible to change the rigts from "print-settings" to read
only but under ubuntu 16.04 evince overwrites the file even if the
rights are set to read only.

Title:
evince starting with undesired print settings

Status in evince package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
I realised that evince always starts with some special printer
settings like "duplex no tumble" and input tray = "rear mp tray" for
  my EPSON_WP-4525.

It turned out that this was not due to what evince saved in
~/.config/evince/print-settings. Information stored there had been
  exactly the settings last used.

Then I remembered that I had tweaked my cups with some lpoptions-
settings by creating printer instances for special purposes. The
commands I had issued had been

lpoptions -d EPSON_WP-4525/DuplexLang -o Duplex=DuplexNotumble
lpoptions -d EPSON_WP-4525/ManuelleZufuhr -o Inputslot=RearMPTray

So my ~/.cups/lpotions looked like this:

Default EPSON_WP-4525
Dest EPSON_WP-4525/DuplexLang Duplex=DuplexNoTumble
Dest EPSON_WP-4525/ManuelleZufuhr InputSlot=RearMPTray

(I checked that there was no /etc/cups/lpotions)

So I suspected evince to walk through all the these instances (while
only the basic instance shows up in the printing dialog) and to
  collect and combine their settings.

To verify that I created a third instance:

lpoptions -d EPSON_WP-4525/zzz-normal -o Duplex=none -o
  InputSlot=AutoSelect

Though this one did not have to be the last one in the lpoptions file,
it obviously had to be the last one in alphabetic order of instances.
Anyway, this did the trick: Now evince starts with "no duplex" and
  automatic paper source.

But at last it seems that evince overwrites the settings last used
(stored in ~/.config/evince/print-settings) by whatever raises from
enumeration of existing instance settings. I tend to call this a bug,
allthough it does only affect people creating printer instances. Maybe
it affects also people with any lpotion entries specifying a default
destination in some unknown manner - I did not test that.
