[Desktop-packages] [Bug 2000258] [NEW] Pending update of Firefox snap popup is very annoying and gives not obvious way of dealing with it.
Public bug reported: For two weeks a popup keeps showing up saying: Pending update of "firefox"snap Close the app to avoid disruption (* days left) There is no obvious way to deal with this. Clicking on the dialog does not do the update. Doing some regular software update does not. Canceling it with the close button just means it will come back several more times a day and it obscures parts of the desktop that are useful. I can see giving a 5 minute warning but two weeks with no way to get it to go ahead? Put an update button in the popup or something. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1857509] [NEW] Missing digimend config file
Public bug reported: The actual package name installed is xserver-xorg-input-wacom but this seems to be the upstream package. Working with ubuntustudio 19.10 I have a Huion 610 which has a working pen on session start but the buttons down the side of the tablet just mirror the the mouse buttons and are therefore useless. On an older install I had installed the digimend kernel modules which worked fine but that package also included a file: /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/50-digimend.conf. I added the part of this file that deals with my tablet to the: /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/70-wacom.conf file and I can now use xsetwacom to set buttons and other parameters. It seems that allthough the digimend kernel module has made it upstream to the linux kernel, the xorg config file has not. As the 70-wacom.conf already contains sections for devices other than wacom devices, perhaps the rest of the devices that the kernel supports could be added to that file. I have attached a copy of my /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/50-digimend.conf file below. At the time the section dealt with two devices: MatchUSBID "5543:006e|256c:006e" but I found that doing a single section for MatchUSBID "256c:006e" worked better for me (in ubuntu 16.04 at the time). The OR-ed version may work fine now. ** Affects: xf86-input-wacom (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Attachment added: "50-digimend.conf" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1857509/+attachment/5315211/+files/50-digimend.conf -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to xf86-input-wacom in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1857509 Title: Missing digimend config file Status in xf86-input-wacom package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: The actual package name installed is xserver-xorg-input-wacom but this seems to be the upstream package. And as standard software installer does not: a) pass on querries from the package install (so that jackd can be properly installed for example) b) does not alert the user that a package they are installing has to remove another package the user still needs. This can leave the user with a crippled system. I have personally helped a number of people fix botched installs. I have never had complaints after the user installs synaptic. synaptic, though old and worn, is the only GUI installer that is safe to use in my experience. It is also fast and provides package information that allows trouble shooting package problems. These extras may be confusing for a new computer user or someone coming from windows, but points a and b above need to be addressed if new users are to keep using Ubuntu longer than a quick try. -- Len Ovens www.ovenwerks.net -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to hplip in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1713313 Title: Unable to launch pkexec'ed applications on Wayland session Status in apport package in Ubuntu: New Status in apt-offline package in Ubuntu: New Status in backintime package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in budgie-welcome package in Ubuntu: Invalid Status in caja-admin package in Ubuntu: New Status in cinnamon package in Ubuntu: Invalid Status in ettercap package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in gdebi package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in gnunet-gtk package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in gparted package in Ubuntu: Invalid Status in gui-ufw package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in guidedog package in Ubuntu: New Status in hplip package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in italc package in Ubuntu: New Status in laptop-mode-tools package in Ubuntu: New Status in lightdm-gtk-greeter-settings package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in nautilus-admin package in Ubuntu: New Status in needrestart-session package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in nemo package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in policykit-1 package in Ubuntu: Invalid Status in scanmem package in Ubuntu: New Status in scap-workbench package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in sirikali package in Ubuntu: New Status in synaptic package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in thunar package in Ubuntu: New Status in tuned package in Ubuntu: New Status in ubuntustudio-controls package in Ubuntu: New Status in ubuntustudio-default-settings package in Ubuntu: Invalid Status in update-notifier package in Ubuntu: New Status in xdiagnose package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in xubuntu-default-settings package in Ubuntu: Invalid Status in zulucrypt package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Bug description: Posting here what gnome says about porting to wayland, and their tests: GNOME Applications under Wayland GTK+ has a Wayland backend. I confirm that it still doesn't work for me either. I did try manually creating /run/alsa/ but that did not work either. in /var/log/syslog I find systemd-udevd[400]: Process '/usr/sbin/alsactl -E HOME=/run/alsa restore 0' failed with exit code 99. Hmm, nothing to do with run levels perhaps. The directory /run/alsa does not exist. Normally /etc/init.d/alsa-utils would create this directory at run time. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1325752] Re: All apps become mute when certain apps are opened.
I installed both vlc and mixxx. I can run a video on vlc, a youtube video and musescore all at the same time. My musescore is the same (or works when set the same). Anyway all three run. The audio from all three mix. SO far so good. Now start mixxx... I already have jackdbus running and use jacksink as my pulse backend/device :) I know not very stock. Anyway, mixxx pretty much kills all the pulse sound. OK, mixxx is using jack directly and not trying to go through pulse audio at all. Pulse just looks like any other jack client and so the next thing is to try mixxx with another jack client... Hydrogen is handy and is not stopped by mixxx. Hmm. OK, lets see if /usr/bin/mixxx is a script that maybe runs pasuspender... No it is a binary. I would still say the problem is with Mixxx. I suspect (but don't know how to find out) that mixxx sends a suspend to pulseaudio when it attempts to get it's output set up... Either start jack or grab the alsa port... unfortunately it does not let go of it after it has gotten it's port (as it should... at least jackdbus does so) ** Package changed: pulseaudio (Ubuntu) => mixxx ** Project changed: mixxx => mixxx (Ubuntu) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to pulseaudio in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1325752 Title: All apps become mute when certain apps are opened. Status in “mixxx” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: Hello, I have a problem with PulseAudio on Ubuntu 14.04 LTS. (This problem is not present for Ubuntu 12.04 LTS) If you start a music, for example with VLC, a mp4 or a flac (or all others files), or a video on Youtube with the Adobe flash player, or all program who use PulseAudio. If you start a program like Musescore or Mixxx, all others programs become mute. It's a bug, because the volume indicate the program have a volume of 100% but no sound. If you exit Musescore or Mixxx, you can ear all others programs again. (Instantly) On Ubuntu 14.04 LTS the bugs is produced each time. If you use pavucontrol, you can see the volume of VLC or others apps freezed when Musescore is opened. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1325752] Re: All apps become mute when certain apps are opened.
Have you changed the settings on these programs? I don't have mixxx installed (studio doesn't install it by default) but I can run a youtube video and then start Musescore and hit play and it will play along with the video. Musescore seems to come with IO set to portaudio with the API set to alsa and the device set to "default" ( the default alsa device is PulseAudio unless you have changed that). *** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1256655 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1256655 Just a guess, but have you tried setting the audio interface to different sample rates? More information would be helpful. Which program are you using to record your piano? Is it recording directly from alsa? or by using pulseaudio? (I would guess the second as your info says pulse audio is running... but, just checking) On your panel there is probably a sound icon that has "Sound Settings" at the bottom. Selecting that should give you pavucontrol, the pulseaudio volume control. The Input Devices tab should show what input is being used and allow you to select between mic and line input. You would want Line Input. There is a meter bar there too that should show your audio in when you play. If you have switched anything you may have to restart your recording application (audacity works well by the way) to get the new settings. The recording tab should show the application you are recording with when in record mode (record plus pause is useful to set levels with before starting to record). [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1192002] [NEW] Menu config file merges menus from standard locations too soon so defaults override merges.
Public bug reported: Merged files from /etc/xdg/menus/applications-merged/ or the user's home directory are supposed to be able to override the default file settings. According to the freedesktop standard the merge files should therefore be read in last. However, the element is at the top of /etc/xdg/menus/applications.menu and so the default overrides the merge. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1168978] [NEW] evince doesn't read pdf that firefox does.
Public bug reported: When selecting a pdf from a website, firefox opens the document in line. There is a button to download the file and then use evince to read it. Firefox reads to the end, but evince stops at page 61. When going to page 62 evince does the "loading" animation forever and never renders page 62 or beyond. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 907311] Re: Not exiting properly? "An instance of Brasero is already running, exiting"
Here we see the problem with marking bugs as duplicates. It may be helpful to see the comments in the duplicate bug reports. This is something that happens when brasero is started as context. (as stated above) The problem is that the dialog that then opens expects that it was opened from the main window and so doesn't exit when it closes... but there is no main window open to exit from. There needs to be a wrapper around context use that does that... sort of an invisible main window that exits brasero when the context dialog exits. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to brasero in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/907311 Title: Not exiting properly? Synaptic says installed version is 3.2.0-0ubuntu6 Using either ubuntu studio 10.04 or 12.04(alpha dec19) if brasero is started by a right click on a toc file (or maybe a cue file) it opens a dialogue to burn a cd from. I can cancel or burn a cd, but in either case ps x still shows brasero running after the dialogue has gone when the application has completed it's task successfully. trying to burn a cd from a second toc file or even open brasero from the main menu then fails until brasero has been killed (kill pid). This is not a problem when opening an audio file (wav, ogg etc.) as the main brasero window is opened. I think that because the burn dialogue normally would not exit brasero it doesn't exit here either, however, the main window is not shown to exit from. This is important to UbuntuStudio because the main DAW (Ardour) puts out toc files as a finished product and brasero is needed (since the loss of gcdmaster) to actually print the file to CD. So this should be listed as a ubuntu studio bug as well. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 922424] [NEW] lightdm won't start I have console(s) only
Public bug reported: On install of ubuntustudio 12.04 alpha (jan 26, but others for about a week now) boot never gets to lightdm. I can log in on a console terminal ok. The lightdm log complains about missing /usr/share/xgreeters/default.desktop. putting a link in that directory to lightdm-gtk-greeter.desktop (ln -s lightdm-gtk-greeter.desktop default.desktop) seems to correct this problem. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 919767] [NEW] brasero stays in memory after use
Public bug reported: Basero 3.2.0 as it installs from the ISO. ** Affects: brasero (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to brasero in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/919767 Title: brasero stays in memory after use Status in “brasero” package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: Basero 3.2.0 as it installs from the ISO. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 916558] [NEW] firefox javascript returns wrong data.
Public bug reported: tested in Ubuntustudio 11.04 and Xubuntu 11.10 Firefox version 9.0.1 - Mozilla Firefox for Ubuntu canonical - 1.0 On this site: http://www.permies.com/t/12027/tinkering-site/paul-we-RMH-rocket-stove (this thread was chosen because I expect little or no more traffic there) They use a javascript subroutine to show the date at the viewers local time. The input data is the server date/time and the output is supposed to be the local time for the viewer (if they are logged in, but the effect shows logged in or not). Opera, chrome, konqueror show this correctly. NM on that machine shows ath0 as "not managed" too. > Please confirm that this workaround works, but this would indeed be an > installer problem. I had thought of that, but figured even if that did work the install was still broken. However, I will try it on my next install. I will also be downloading ubuntu desktop (Alternate) and try that. I suspect the live CD version may not have this problem, just the alternate install. I haven't tried Xubuntu live CD, just the alt and it has this problem too. I don't really have the time to start trying live cd installs right now... the alts keep me busy enough. -- Len Ovens www.OvenWerks.net -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to network-manager in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/901945 Title: network manager applet doesn't work in precise Status in “network-manager” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: In precise 12.04 alpha (dec 8 build, alt iso), Either or both Xubuntu or Ubuntustudio (and presumably others) when the iso is installed on a laptop/netbook using the wireless device for a network connection.
