[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1006227] Re: empathy crashes on adding another gtalk account
Bug 919377 is not my issue, though I have also done the same thing: added 2 gtalk accounts. For me empathy crashes. The window is no more there and apport window comes up. Here is a sequence of screenshots that show apport coming up after enabling the new account and empathy window disappears. http://www.mediafire.com/?2dx122f8425eb ** Changed in: empathy (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete = New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to empathy in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1006227 Title: empathy crashes on adding another gtalk account Status in “empathy” package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: Empathy crashed after adding a second gtalk account. melvin@melvinz-home-pc:~$ empathy *** glibc detected *** empathy: double free or corruption (!prev): 0x091f4440 *** === Backtrace: = /lib/i386-linux-gnu/libc.so.6(+0x73e42)[0xb4f64e42] /lib/i386-linux-gnu/libglib-2.0.so.0(+0x4cccb)[0xb50feccb] /lib/i386-linux-gnu/libglib-2.0.so.0(g_free+0x20)[0xb50fef50] /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/libpango-1.0.so.0(+0x1c8bb)[0xb54308bb] /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/libpango-1.0.so.0(+0x1c8fb)[0xb54308fb] /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/libgobject-2.0.so.0(g_object_unref+0x218)[0xb51bd288] /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/libgtk-3.so.0(+0xcb82b)[0xb55c682b] /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/libgtk-3.so.0(gtk_cell_renderer_get_preferred_width+0x140)[0xb55bdb50] /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/libgtk-3.so.0(gtk_cell_area_request_renderer+0x200)[0xb55b4e50] /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/libgtk-3.so.0(+0xbaaa5)[0xb55b5aa5] /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/libgtk-3.so.0(+0xbc8e6)[0xb55b78e6] /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/libgtk-3.so.0(gtk_cell_area_get_preferred_width+0xd2)[0xb55b1532] /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/libgtk-3.so.0(gtk_tree_view_column_cell_get_size+0xd5)[0xb57bbd25] /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/libgtk-3.so.0(+0x2a5900)[0xb57a0900] /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/libgtk-3.so.0(+0x2a655b)[0xb57a155b] /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/libgtk-3.so.0(+0x2a699a)[0xb57a199a] /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/libgdk-3.so.0(+0x1298e)[0xb549198e] /lib/i386-linux-gnu/libglib-2.0.so.0(+0x44740)[0xb50f6740] /lib/i386-linux-gnu/libglib-2.0.so.0(g_main_context_dispatch+0x17a)[0xb50f8cda] /lib/i386-linux-gnu/libglib-2.0.so.0(+0x470e5)[0xb50f90e5] /lib/i386-linux-gnu/libglib-2.0.so.0(g_main_context_iteration+0x41)[0xb50f91c1] /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/libgio-2.0.so.0(g_application_run+0x1c4)[0xb5291764] empathy(main+0xe2)[0x8074ea2] /lib/i386-linux-gnu/libc.so.6(__libc_start_main+0xf3)[0xb4f0a4d3] empathy[0x8074ee1] === Memory map: 08048000-08165000 r-xp 08:05 262197 /usr/bin/empathy 08165000-08167000 r--p 0011c000 08:05 262197 /usr/bin/empathy 08167000-0816a000 rw-p 0011e000 08:05 262197 /usr/bin/empathy 0816a000-0816b000 rw-p 00:00 0 09066000-097fa000 rw-p 00:00 0 [heap] a9ffb000-a9ffc000 ---p 00:00 0 a9ffc000-aa7fc000 rw-p 00:00 0 aa7fc000-aa7fd000 ---p 00:00 0 aa7fd000-aaffd000 rw-p 00:00 0 aaffd000-aaffe000 ---p 00:00 0 aaffe000-ab7fe000 rw-p 00:00 0 ab7fe000-ab7ff000 ---p 00:00 0 ab7ff000-abfff000 rw-p 00:00 0 abfff000-ac00 ---p 00:00 0 ac00-ac80 rw-p 00:00 0 ac80-ac821000 rw-p 00:00 0 ac821000-ac90 ---p 00:00 0 ac90-ac921000 rw-p 00:00 0 ac921000-aca0 ---p 00:00 0 aca0-aca21000 rw-p 00:00 0 aca21000-acb0 ---p 00:00 0 acb3c000-acb4d000 r--p 08:05 3818 /usr/share/fonts/truetype/ttf-indic-fonts-core/lohit_ta.ttf acb4d000-acbfd000 r--p 08:05 3798 /usr/share/fonts/truetype/ttf-dejavu/DejaVuSans.ttf acbfd000-acbfe000 ---p 00:00 0 acbfe000-ad3fe000 rw-p 00:00 0 ad3fe000-ad3ff000 ---p 00:00 0 ad3ff000-adbff000 rw-p 00:00 0 adbff000-adc0 ---p 00:00 0 adc0-ae40 rw-p 00:00 0 ae40-ae421000 rw-p 00:00 0 ae421000-ae50 ---p 00:00 0 ae508000-ae50b000 r-xp 08:05 267779 /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/pango/1.6.0/modules/pango-hebrew-fc.so ae50b000-ae50c000 r--p 2000 08:05 267779 /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/pango/1.6.0/modules/pango-hebrew-fc.so ae50c000-ae50d000 rw-p 3000 08:05 267779 /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/pango/1.6.0/modules/pango-hebrew-fc.so ae50d000-ae523000 r--p 08:05 3796 /usr/share/fonts/truetype/tlwg/Waree.ttf ae523000-ae52b000 r-xp 08:05 267023 /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/libthai.so.0.1.6 ae52b000-ae52c000 r--p 7000 08:05 267023 /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/libthai.so.0.1.6 ae52c000-ae52d000 rw-p 8000 08:05 267023 /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/libthai.so.0.1.6 ae52e000-ae533000 r-xp 08:05 267780

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1006227] Re: empathy crashes on adding another gtalk account
My best guess is that I have contact groups in both accounts and it crashes when it loads BOTH accounts with the SAME contact groups, but different contacts. To reproduce: 1. Add a google talk account. 2. Group your contacts: Friends, Family, Work. 3. Disable the account. 4. Add a second google talk account. 5. Group your contacts: Friends, Family, Work. 6. Now enable the first account also. 7. Seems a duplicate of the bug https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/software-center/+bug/782953 Though I didn't understand - 'until update-apt-xapian-index is ran by cron' When I add a PPA, it does not update it's info to include the PPA packages. ** Summary changed: - sotware center does not update package list + software center does not update package list -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to software-center in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/997051 Title: software center does not update package list Status in “software-center” package in Ubuntu: Opinion Bug description: Please add a reload button to update the software cache each time I add a new repository. Well. newer users of Ubuntu may not add a PPA due to security concerns or because they won't know how to, but the older ones would take a backup and risk experimenting with their OS. I don't know why the software center does not reload even though I saw a bug that this was fixed in version 1.1 itself. I use Ubuntu Precise. Why not add a button saying 'reload' or a menu option, 'Update software list'? It would be very helpful if the aim is to make a fully functinal GUI. Why would I go back to the command line after choosing to use the GUI software center?
