[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1618424] Re: The internet applet crashes randomly.

2016-12-19 Thread ubuntu-tester
For me, "nm-applet" crashes instead of asking (the good) password when
connecting to a wireless network :
- if I enter and store a wrong password in the gnome keyring (only for this
user option),
- or if a wrong password is already stored in the gnome keyring.

The workaround is to change the password in the properties of the
connection (via nm-applet) or in the gnome keyring (via seahorse).

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1611745] Re: OpenGL not working through ssh -X

2016-12-12 Thread ubuntu-tester
I have the same problem. If I force indirect rendering like below, it
works, but it's not a good solution.

1. Create /etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf.d/50-xserver-command.conf :
[SeatDefaults]
# Dump core
xserver-command=X -core +iglx

2. Restart LightDM
# systemctl restart lightdm

Title:
OpenGL not working through ssh -X

Status in xorg package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
I need to run several OpenGL-depending programs through ssh -x, like
tecplot, mayavi or paraview. I connect to the remote machine with ssh
-X (or ssh -Y, doesn't matter). Then I test opengl using e.g. glxinfo.

The output of glxinfo on the remote machine says that it was unable to
create the OpenGL context. In the other remote programs I receive the
same error message. On the local machine, it works fine. See the
  logfiles attached (local_glxinfo.log, remote_glxinfo.log).

I configured my Xorg according to the attached xorg.conf. The
configuration was produced with nvidia-settings and two manual tweaks,
lines 54 and 74. I added those lines because I could not (and still
can't) enforce indirect rendering of my graphics card. Indirect
rendering is still switched off, see lines 102 and 167 in Xorg.0.log.

The issue does also occur when no manually generated xorg.conf is
  present.

I'm using the latest drivers from the package nvidia-361.

The issue occurs with and without my graphics card (Intel HD 4600, or
  GeForce 605). Before I switched to ubuntu-gnome 16.04 I had a xubuntu
14.04 LTS running. There some applications would work, other would
not. Now nothing works at all.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1364025] Re: system-config-printer fails with cups-client talking to cups 1.3 server

2015-02-09 Thread ubuntu-tester
Like Owen Dunn, I make a scan with wireshark, with the 'version=1.1' option in
/etc/cups/client.conf :
- On Firefox, all requests and demands use IPP 1.1,
- On system-config-printer, some requests and demands use IPP 2.0.

Title:
system-config-printer fails with cups-client talking to cups 1.3
  server

Status in system-config-printer package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  system-config-printer-gnome version 1.4.3+20140219-0ubuntu2.1
  python-cups version 1.9.66-0ubuntu2
  libcups2 version 1.7.2-0ubuntu1.1

I have my systems configured to talk to a cups 1.3 server, which only
speaks IPP 1.1, so I have in /etc/cups/client.conf:

  ServerName cups-serv.example.com/version=1.1

...and printing from applications and the command line works fine.

When I run system-config-printer, all the printers are shown in a
dialogue box, but attempting to refresh the dialogue box or perform
any operation on any of the printer icons in the box produces an error
  box saying:

  CUPS server error

There was an error during the CUPS operation: 'Bad Request'.

Viewing the network traffic with wireshark I see that system-config-printer
is making some requests with IPP version 2.0, and it is these requests which
the CUPS server is objecting to. system-config-printer (or perhaps the python
CUPS libraries it uses, or perhaps the underlying C CUPS API) should respect
the version=1.1 option in client.conf.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1364025] Re: system-config-printer fails with cups-client talking to cups 1.3 server

2015-02-06 Thread ubuntu-tester
system-config-printer-gnome 1.4.3+20140219-0ubuntu2.5
python-cups 1.9.66-0ubuntu2
libcups2 1.7.2-0ubuntu1.2

I use 1.7.2 CUPS clients with a 1.4.2 CUPS server.

To access to print menu in any applications, it was very slow (about 2
minutes), I have configured the version=1.1 option in /etc/cups
client.conf, and now all works fine except system-config-printer so it
may confirm that it doesn't respect the version=1.1 option in
client.conf and still use IPP 2.0.

Public bug reported:

Hello,

I notice a bug about wireless powersave (pm-utils 1.4.1-13ubuntu0.1 on
Ubuntu 14.04.1 LTS using kernel 3.13.0-44-generic) :

# PM_FUNCTIONS=/usr/lib/pm-utils/functions /usr/lib/pm-utils/power.d/wireless

If I replace '/sys/class/net/wlan0/device/enabled' by

utils/power.d/wireless', it seems to work fine :

# PM_FUNCTIONS=/usr/lib/pm-utils/functions /usr/lib/pm-utils/power.d/wireless
true
Turning powersave for wlan0 on...Done.

Is it possible to fix this bug ?

Thanks :)

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1381624] [NEW] gvfs timeout (trusty)

2014-10-15 Thread ubuntu-tester
Public bug reported:

Hello,

I have an issue with gvfs-mount on Ubuntu 14.04 (trusty).

Summary :
When I mount a Windows share (CIFS) via gvfs-mount, and I don't access to it
while about 30 minutes, then when I try to access to it via Nautilus or a
terminal (ls command for example), I have to wait about 20 seconds to display
the directory contents.

Below, how to reproduce the problem :
1. Mount a Windows share (CIFS) via gvfs-mount command : 'gvfs-mount
smb://ubuntu-tester@winsrv/d$'
2. Check the share is mounted in
'/run/user/999/gvfs/smb-share:server=winsrv,share=d$,user=ubuntu-tester'
3. Wait about 30 minutes without accessing to this share
4. Access to this share via 'ls' command for example : 'ls
/run/user/999/gvfs/smb-share:server=winsrv,share=d$,user=ubuntu-tester/Temp/test'
= I have to wait about 20 seconds to display 'ls' output like if the share is
umounted after x minutes without accessing to it and gvfs-mount mounts it when
I try to access to it.

If I run 'strace ls
/run/user/999/gvfs/smb-share:server=winsrv,share=d$,user=ubuntu-tester/Temp/test',

I have to wait at :

Title:
  gvfs timeout (trusty)

Status in “gvfs” package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
  Hello,

I have an issue with gvfs-mount on Ubuntu 14.04 (trusty).

  Summary :
When I mount a Windows share (CIFS) via gvfs-mount, and I don't access to it
while about 30 minutes, then when I try to access to it via Nautilus or a
terminal (ls command for example), I have to wait about 20 seconds to display
the directory contents.

Below, how to reproduce the problem :
  1. Mount a Windows share (CIFS) via gvfs-mount command : 'gvfs-mount
smb://ubuntu-tester@winsrv/d$'
  2. Check the share is mounted in
'/run/user/999/gvfs/smb-share:server=winsrv,share=d$,user=ubuntu-tester'
  3. Wait about 30 minutes without accessing to this share
  4. Access to this share via 'ls' command for example : 'ls
/run/user/999/gvfs/smb-share:server=winsrv,share=d$,user=ubuntu-tester/Temp/test'
= I have to wait about 20 seconds to display 'ls' output like if the share is
umounted after x minutes without accessing to it and gvfs-mount mounts it when
I try to access to it.

  If I run 'strace ls
/run/user/999/gvfs/smb-share:server=winsrv,share=d$,user=ubuntu-tester/Temp/test',

I have to wait at :

stat(/run/user/999/gvfs/smb-share:server=winsrv,share=d$,user=ubuntu-tester/Temp/test,
  of the line :

stat(/run/user/999/gvfs/smb-share:server=winsrv,share=d$,user=ubuntu-tester/Temp/test,
 {st_mode=S_IFDIR|0700, st_size=0, ...}) = 0

I don't think this is an OS host issue because I reproduced this issue
on Windows and Ubuntu 14.04 hosts, and Rojer on a modified Ubuntu 12.04

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1328898] Re: VMware guest video broken by the 3.2.0.64 kernel update

2014-07-02 Thread ubuntu-tester
Hi chrisfriedt,

I have the same issue on Ubuntu 14.04 host.

I found this issue on VM created with an older version of vmware player
(version 5.0.x) that generate VMs in version Workstation 6.5-7.x
virtual machines. This issue is still present even if I use these VMs
with the lastest version of vmware player.

According to my tests, VMs created with the lastest version of vmware
player are in version Workstation 10.0 virtual machines and don't have
this issue.

So, I think this issue is related to the version of the VM. So among
people who have this issue, it may be useful to know the version of
their VMs in order to reproduce the problem.

For example, about the question on
https://communities.vmware.com/message/2388776, dominicus said This
install has been stable for 2yrs, but after some Ubuntu updates today,
my screen now boots into 3 repeated and truncated panes. so he must
have a VM with an older version.

I will try to perform tests that you noticed me and keep you informed.

2014-07-02 Thread ubuntu-tester
Chris, Rojer,

On my Ubuntu 12.04 VM (3.2.0-64-generic kernel) I deleted
/lib/modules/3.2.0-64-generic/kernel/drivers/gpu/drm/vmwgfx/vmgfx.ko and
display seems to work fine now. There is no split issue and the screen
resolution is dynamically configured (I have VMwareTools-9.2.2-893683
installed). On the other side, window maximization when we move an
application window on the top of the desktop doesn't work.

This is not a solution, but perhaps it may give you an idea about the
source of this issue.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1328898] Re: VMware guest video broken by the 3.2.0.64 kernel update

2014-07-01 Thread ubuntu-tester
In addition to my previous comment about Ubuntu 14.04 VM on vmware player 6.0.2
:
- If I use my usual script that create VM in version Workstation 6.5-7.x
virtual machine : I have the split screen issue.
- If I configure manually, the VM is created in version Workstation 10.0
virtual machine : I don't have the split screen issue.

I guess it's the same for ubuntu 12.04 (I will test). I hope there will
be a solution to this issue because upgrade all VM to the version
Workstation 10.0 virtual machine, and all clients to vmware player
6.0.2 is quite complicated.

if you need specific information, don't hesitate to contact me.

I fixed this similar problem with the additional package, xserver-xorg-

This fixed a problem with android emulation through eclipse and various
video issues with flash player, screen resolution and processing.

hope this helps a bit and let us know how you get on...

oh what machine are you using? have you checked the bios settings for
