Same problem here...after killing Rhythmbox on the first startup it works fine until I restart my computer. Very, very annoying bug to have. Definitely started with 13.10, it was not there on 13.04 for me. Same here, but it also happen on the play button in Rhythmbox itself. It is an almost-certainty after the first login or boot (for me this is virtually the same thing). Time counter and slider stay on 0:00, one core goes to 100%, UI freezes. Closing brings up the dialog if I want to kill it. Doing so and restarting Rhythmbox most of the times fixes the problem, but not always. Most definately started after moving from 13:04 to 13:10. Hope this helps.
