[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1629355] Re: Bad user experience: Missing "recent documents" in save dialogs

2017-02-03 Thread Valentas
I would much prefer having the "Recently used" folder in "Save"/"Save
as" dialog like in LibreOffice, Inkscape, Gimp.

Title:
Bad user experience: Missing "recent documents" in save dialogs

Status in evolution package in Ubuntu:
  Expired

Bug description:
  Ubuntu 16.04, evolution-3.18.5.2-0ubuntu3.

Open an email with an attachment, and click on the button to save the
attachment. A file chooser dialog appears. The bug is that it is not
possible to select the recently used documents.

Note that other gtk-3 file dialogs show the recently used documents
even in save dialogs. Evolution-3.18 seemed to have disabled this
feature although it is super-practical when you want to save many
files (e.g. email attachments) to the same directory. Earlier versions
  of evolution supported this.

Are you talking about recent directories or specific file names?

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1629355] Re: Bad user experience: Missing "recent documents" in save dialogs

2016-10-12 Thread Gerd Stolpmann
Just had another look. So, my original statement that other gtk-3 apps
show "Recent" for Save is probably wrong (also checked eog and evince).
Not sure what made me believe that. Only gtk-2 apps do (e.g. gimp,
inkscape, chromium, libreoffice, all checked under Ubuntu 16.04).

Nevertheless, it's an inconsistency of the user experience.

Can you give examples of apps that show 'Recent' in the Save dialog?

I checked Text Editor (gedit) in Ubuntu 16.04 LTS and it shows 'Recent'
for Open but not for Save.
