  In System Settings, Confidentiality, Deactivating lock screen : does
  not work after opening laptop lid.

  Still presented by the GDM users/password lock screen.

  Worst case : sometimes, presented by the screen saver window, hitting
  space bar to reveal desktop cause a shell freeze.

  Been like this also on Ubuntu Gnome 17.04

Curious you describe a setting that doesn't seem to exist:
"Confidentiality, Deactivating lock screen"

Do you mean this? Privacy > Screen lock = OFF
