Title:
Snap packages sources are not stated on listings

Status in gnome-software package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Committed

Bug description:
As shown in the attaching (flathub_source_good.png), flathub packages shown
in listings with the:
'source: dl.flathub.org' shown directily without having to click into the
application package.

This is not the case for Snap packages. You have to click into the
listing to find out if it is a SNAP package or not.

This is confusing these days as you can have the same package from
multiple sources (ubuntu source, SNAP, flathub...)

SNAP sources should be shown the same way.

A user would want to know the source, especially if it is a
SNAP/flatpak because they would associate it with more frequent
updates and the other benefits of the packaging.

Ideally you could also filter based on the source as well

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1854379] Re: Snap packages sources are not stated on listings

2019-11-28 Thread Robert Ancell
This source field is only shown if the same app (as determined by
AppStream ID) is available from multiple sources (e.g. a Snap and a
Flatpak). In the case of snaps it wasn't showing because we haven't set
the "origin_hostname" field. https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-
software/merge_requests/374 proposes falling back to the "origin" field
(set to "Snap Store" for snaps.

We may also want to set the origin_hostname for snaps (to
"snapcraft.io"?) but this seems less readable than Snap Store.
