This bug is not related to the title issue, thats a seperate bug. This is about the size of app icons in the apps thats are grouped together using app folder. Their size is far bigger than the other apps which are not grouped. This is UI/UX bug nothing serious. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1872276] Re: Gnome shell huge app's icon size in the app folder
This seems somewhat dependent on the screen resolution. At 1920x1080 (the most popular screen resolution) our default web browser is "Firefox Web br..." At 1366x768 (the next most popular screen resolution) it's "Firefox W..." It looks like the GNOME stock application names have been optimised for this behaviour, being called short names like "Calendar", "Calculator", "Terminal", "Settings", "Fonts" which fit beneath their icons. Perhaps our stock .desktop files should be examined, and developers encouraged to use shorter names. In 2020, does anyone on Linux really not know that Firefox is a Web browser for example? ** Attachment added: "1366x768.png" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell/+bug/1872276/+attachment/5352415/+files/1366x768.png -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gnome-shell in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1872276 Title: Gnome shell huge app's icon size in the app folder Status in gnome-shell package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: Description: Ubuntu Focal Fossa (development branch) Release: 20.04 Bug: Gnome shell while opening app folder created in app launcher, the resulting dialog holding apps of app folder are having icon size larger than the other apps shown in the app launcher.
