[Desktop-packages] [Bug 597476] Re: GeForce 7150M / nForce 630M uses an unusable resolution by default

2020-04-28 Thread Ty Thompson
Can confirm, it's the Nvidia driver installed however now. Will work on
external monitor if the monitor is plugged in prior to boot. GeForce 7150m as
well.
Horizontal double image, stretched vertical with interlacing.

What makes this unusual is the mouse cursor stays within the side bounds
of the screen undistorted and clicks are where the image should have
been horizontally but matches image location vertically. Mouse is
bounded to screen sides but will go down to the off screen to where the
bottom of image should be, about 2x screen height.

Title:
GeForce 7150M / nForce 630M uses an unusable resolution by default

Status in xserver-xorg-video-nouveau package in Ubuntu:
  Expired

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: xorg

Booting Ubuntu Lucid 32-bit Desktop CD on a HP Pavillon dv2500, the
following card displays a default resolution which is not usable. The
screen is offset to the right, there are artifacts and horizontal bars
  on the screen.

Would it be possible to do two things in this bug:
  1) Create a guide on the wiki explaining another workaround which explains
how to either change the resolution (or installing the binary drivers from the
Live CD without restarting). This will assure that people with this issue can
check a verified document explaining how to get ubuntu installed on this
hardware.
  2) Get the default resolution for this machine to be 1280x800 instead of
1024x768 from the 10.04.1 CD

Workaround: Though the interface is not usable, you can still guide

André Silva Coelho de Oliveira, it is most helpful if you use the computer the
problem is reproducible with and file a new report with Ubuntu by first
ensuring the package xdiagnose is installed, and click the Yes button for
attaching additional debugging information after running the following from a
terminal:
ubuntu-bug xorg

I can confirm that this problem still happens even with the newest
(Ubuntu 19) version. Tryied to install Ubuntu 19 on a HP Pavillion
dv6000 and the same problem persist.

2014-02-06 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Alex P, thank you for your comment. So your hardware and problem may be
tracked, could you please file a new report by executing the following in a
terminal:
ubuntu-bug xorg

Please ensure you have xdiagnose installed, and that you click the Yes
button for attaching additional debugging information.

For more on this, please see the official Ubuntu documentation:
Ubuntu X.Org Team, Ubuntu Bug Control, and Ubuntu Bug Squad:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/BestPractices#X.2BAC8-Reporting.Focus_on_One_Issue
Ubuntu Community:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette

When opening up the new report, please feel free to subscribe me to it.

Please note, not filing a new report will delay your problem being
addressed as quickly as possible.

Thank you for your understanding.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 597476] Re: GeForce 7150M / nForce 630M uses an unusable resolution by default

2014-02-03 Thread Alex P
Tried to install Lubuntu 13.10, Linux Mint 16 XFCE or Cinnamon and had
problems launching the installer due to distorted graphics. Linux Mint
has compatibility mode that works fine for the installer. However after
installing and rebooting I get the distorted graphics again. The text
terminal (ALT+CTRL+F1) is more or less usable, but far from ideal.

The only to solve the problem for me was by using nomodeset in grub.

Hardware: HP Pavilion DV6700 with Nvidia Geforce 7150m/ nForce 630

Title:
GeForce 7150M / nForce 630M uses an unusable resolution by default

Status in “xserver-xorg-video-nouveau” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

7150M / nForce 630M] [10de:0531] (rev a2)
Kernel driver in use: nouveau
Kernel modules: nvidiafb, nouveau

Workaround: Though the interface is not usable, you can still guide
your mouse and go to the correct items. Go to System Preferences
Monitors and change the default resolution of 1024x768 to 1280x800.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 597476] Re: GeForce 7150M / nForce 630M uses an unusable resolution by default

2014-01-08 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
komputes, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any
activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If
so, could you please test for this with the latest development release
of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com
/daily-live/current/ .

If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in
the development release from a Terminal
(Applications-Accessories-Terminal), as it will automatically gather
and attach updated debug information to this report:

apport-collect -p xserver-xorg-video-nouveau REPLACE-WITH-BUG-NUMBER

Please note, given that the information from the prior release is
already available, doing this on a release prior to the development one
would not be helpful.

Thank you for your understanding.

Helpful bug reporting tips:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs

** No longer affects: nvidia-graphics-drivers (Ubuntu)

** Changed in: xserver-xorg-video-nouveau (Ubuntu)
   Importance: Undecided = Low

** Changed in: xserver-xorg-video-nouveau (Ubuntu)
