  .

This was first identified in LO 3.3.0, as well as OOo 3.2.1.

One possible solution is to map Goudy Old Style, when the actual font
GOUDOS.TTF is not installed, to the Goudy Bookletter 1911 font provided
  by the package ttf-goudybookletter https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source
/ttf-goudybookletter . While it is not exactly the same pixel for pixel
(ex. the half circle center of the e points slightly upwards in Goudy
Bookletter 1911, while in Goudy Old Style it's flat), it's so close
otherwise to be virtually indistinguishable. As well, this solution
  would minimize round trip complaints.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 695898] Re: [Upstream] Impress not honoring font size or look of Goudy Old Style font from MS PowerPoint 2007 file

2012-12-30 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Following provides solutions for this report:
1) If you don't have a Goudy Old Style font file, in LO click Tools - Options
- Fonts - check checkbox Apply replacement table - drop down box Font Goudy
Old Style - drop down Replace with Goudy Bookletter 1911 - click check mark
- check checkbox Always - button OK.

2) If you do have a Goudy Old Style font file, copy font files from MS Office
2010 WINE install:
sudo cp ~/.wine/drive_c/windows/Fonts/*.TTF /usr/share/fonts/msofficefonts
sudo cp ~/.wine/drive_c/windows/Fonts/*.TTC /usr/share/fonts/msofficefonts
sudo fc-cache -f -v

- 3) What is expected to happen is when one creates the attached
- presentation in MS PowerPoint 2007 and saves in .ppt format, opens up
- attached example.ppt file in Impress, then runs the Slide Show, it looks
- the same as it does in Microsoft PowerPoint Viewer 2007 via WINE.

+ cd ~/Desktop wget
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/openoffice.org/+bug/695898/+attachment/2656056/+files/slide6.ppt

+ the Impress screenshot
+

+ . This issue does not happen in Windows due to the font being available.

- is that some font sizes are larger in Impress than in MSPP.
+ WORKAROUND: Open PPT file in PowerPoint via WINE with Existing
+ overrides: riched20 (native, builtin) .

- WORKAROUND: 1. Export PPT file from MS Power Point to PDF to view slide

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 695898]

2012-01-04 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Looks as expected using upstream attachment
https://bugs.launchpad.net/openoffice/+bug/695898/+attachment/2656056/+files/slide6.ppt
 in:
LOdev 3.5.0beta2
Build ID: 8589e48-760cc4d-f39cf3d-1b2857e-60db978
Microsoft Windows Vista Business 6.0.6002 Service Pack 2 Build 6002

This seems to confirm that the issue is a Linux only one, due to font
substitution when the correct font is not found on the system.

This bug was filed before the changes to Bugzilla on 2011-10-16. Thus it
started right out as NEW without ever being explicitly confirmed. The bug is
changed to state NEEDINFO for this reason. To move this bug from NEEDINFO back
to NEW please check if the bug still persists with the 3.5.0 beta1 or beta2
prereleases.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 695898] migrating packaging from OpenOffice.org to Libreoffice

2011-09-15 Thread Björn Michaelsen
[This is an automated message.]
There are no new official OpenOffice.org releases in Ubuntu packaging anymore
= Won't Fix

If the problem persists, please mark this bug as also affects project
Libreoffice or also affects distribution Libreoffice (Ubuntu) if that
has not happened already.

Please leave references to upstream OpenOffice.org bugs in place to
allow cross pollination.
