[Desktop-packages] [Bug 856504] Re: Software Center shows No network connection warning when network connection is actually established
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 911706 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/911706 I've set this one as a duplicate of bug 911706. Indeed, that is a later bug, but we have been tracking the fix for this one there, and furthermore, that bug includes a very informative comment from mpt (comment #4). If anyone would like to add any information from this bug or any of its dupes, please feel free to do so in bug 911706. Many thanks, all! ** This bug has been marked a duplicate of bug 911706 USC relies on NM to be online, can't force online if not using NM -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to software-center in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/856504 Title: Software Center shows No network connection warning when network connection is actually established Status in “software-center” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: Software Center shows No network connection warning when there are actually a network connection. It probably relies on Network Manager for it. But I don't use Network Manager. In the past six years, it never worked for me. Not when I was on dial-up, not when I used DSL, not when I use wireless now. Can Software Center take more smart approach, and actually try *using* network. If that fails, it should properly handle errors. Because when there is no network connection, but Network Manager tells it is there, you should properly handle errors anyway.
