Title:
Snap Firefox crashes when trying to save anything

Status in firefox package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
This was originally a fresh install from an ISO from 4 days ago, I have
already ripped it out and reinstalled it with same errors. Snap Firefox crashes
when trying to save anything, or trying to save settings, once you close and
reopen it, most reset, but extensions still work somewhat.
This is from Ubuntu 22.04.3 LTS Jammy Jellyfish (x86-64) Its says in the
'About Mozilla Firefox" thats this is the 110.0 64-bit version, Mozilla Firefox
Snap for Ubuntu canonical-002 - 1.0

The previous non snap version worked great, this version forget it.
These are the results, I got.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1900167] Re: gnome-software unable to install updates (Prepared update not found)

2024-01-13 Thread Yosha872
Alexander, the trick did not work for me (on 3 computers having Xubuntu
22.04.3).

Note for next viewers: I still had the issue on a second laptop (Xubuntu
22.04.3), and today the issue is gone, it seems it is because I cleared
the content of the folder of './cache/gnome-software' then reboot the
computer.

Bug description:
I have a problem with connecting to a Miracast device via GNOME Network
Displays package (https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-network-displays) on
Ubuntu.
It sees the device normally (I see the device name in "Available Video Sinks"
list), but when I'm trying to connect, after some time I've got the connection
failed with the error:
  ```
  p2p-dev-wlp0s20f3: Authorization supplicant timed out
  ```
Other systems (Android, Windows, MacOS) connects to it successfully.

  In the https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-network-displays it's described
that wpa_supplicant requires the patch:

https://patchwork.ozlabs.org/project/hostap/patch/20200825062902.124600-1-benja...@sipsolutions.net/

Maybe just adding this one-line patch could resolve this issue? Or it
  is already applied?

I usually organize my files by opening two windows in Nautilus and
transferring the files from one window to the next. But about every

Bug description:
I am using Ubuntu 22.10 and my headset Pixel Buds Pro works correctly
but only the low-quality CVSD codec is available and not the mSBC one
  for the Handsfree profile.

I know the Pixel Buds Pro headset are compatible with mSBC because on
another machine also running Ubuntu 22.10, this headset correctly
works with the mSBC codec (and the audio quality is much better for
  both input and output audio).

My motherboard is an Aorus x670 with AMD Zen 4 CPU.

The bluetooth controller seems to be:

  ```
  Bus 005 Device 003: ID 0e8d:0616 MediaTek Inc. Wireless_Device
  ```

Let me know if you need more informations.

Title:
  Couldn't connect to accessibility bus

Status in evince package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released
Status in evince source package in Jammy:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
  * Impact

the apparmor profile blocks the connection to the accessibility bus
since it hasn't been updated for the new socket location,
  https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/at-spi2-core/-/issues/43

  * Test Case

start evince, it shouldn't print the warning

dbind-WARNING **: Couldn't connect to accessibility bus: Failed to
connect to socket /run/user/UID/at-spi/bus_0: Permission denied

start orca, it should be able to read the content of evince

  * Regression potential

The change is only allowing an extra location in the apparmor profile,
we kept also the old path for compatibility reasons and for making the
profile easier to share between series. Allowing the extra location
shouldn't create a regression but if the change was incorrect it is
possible that evince would still bot be able to connect to the bus

Title:
Audio problem on zoom + kubuntu 23.10

Status in pulseaudio package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
I am using kubuntu 23.10, and have sound issues with zoom. I have
a Jabra Speak 510 running thorugh USB.
When I first connect to a meeting, I hear nothing (but apparently my mic does
work, so others can hear me). If I open audio settings, hit "Test" and then
switch the profile
from Analog Stereo Output + Mono Input to Digital Stereo Output + Mono Input
(or vice versa, it's the action of changing the profile that seems important),
  then the sound works.
At points during a zoom call (seems to be related to other windows/apps
opening),
the sound dies and I have to switch profile again.
I never had this issue with kubuntu 22.04 LTS. I have not noticed similar
problems applications which only output audio, eg vlc or clementine.

  STEPS TO REPRODUCE
  1. Join a zoom meeting

  OBSERVED RESULT
No sound output until switching audio profile

  EXPECTED RESULT
Sound should work without having to switch profile

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 2049254] [NEW] Snap Firefox crashes when trying to save anything

2024-01-13 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1843392] Re: [snap] smart card reader no longer works

2024-01-13 Thread Pascal Dal Farra
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1967632 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1967632

Hi Nathan,

Sorry, I somehow lost track of this issue.

iED Viewer (https://eid.belgium.be/fr/eid-viewer )is working fine on my
"Ubuntu 22.04.3 LTS" , but testing authentication using
https://idp.iamfas.belgium.be/fasui/login/eidservice still fails
(Firefox 121.0.1 (64-bit).

Maybe I should install another version of Firefox? (I would prefer to
stick to Snap version of Firefox, on NOT using firefox-esr )

To ease and speed up our communication, feel free to reach out to me on
linkedin : https://be.linkedin.com/in/pascaldalfarra (I prefer not to
put my email address here)

Bug description:
chromium uses the Netscape Cryptographic Module to access smartcards

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 2049262] [NEW] Cannot successfully mount the directory through nfs4 on Ubuntu 20.04

2024-01-13 Thread Shengxue Pan
Public bug reported:

we want to mount with nfs 4.1 on Ubuntu 20.04, but when we run the command:
mount -o vers=4 -vvv x.x.x.x:/sam_test /mnt
it will only try version 4, the following is the log:
root@ubuntutest:~# mount -o vers=4 -vvv x.x.x.x:/sam_test /mnt
mount.nfs: timeout set for Thu Dec 28 12:31:23 2023
mount.nfs: trying text-based options 'vers=4,addr=x.x.x.x,clientaddr=x.x.x.x'
mount.nfs: mount(2): Protocol not supported
mount.nfs: Protocol not supported
The only way to make it work is to specify ver=4.1:
root@ubuntutest:~# mount -o vers=4.1 -vvv x.x.x.x:/sam_test /mnt
mount.nfs: timeout set for Thu Dec 28 12:31:33 2023
mount.nfs: trying text-based options 'vers=4.1,addr=x.x.x.x,clientaddr=x.x.x.x'

Now we use nfs-common version 1:1.3.4-2.5ubuntu3.5. I think it is a bug of
nfs-common package.
Normally, as a comparison, in Redhat, if we set vers=4, it will try the latest
nfs4 version 4.2, if it failed , it will try the older version until it works.
[root@zhf1smg002 ~]# mount -o vers=4 -vvv x.x.x.x:/sam_test /mnt

Bug description:
Scanning from the ADF on my Epson WF-7710 produces images with a left margin
about 4 times as large as when scanning from the flatbed, so that the

Top and bottom margins are handled correctly.
The scanner is connected via the local ethernet.

Memory tells me that it used to scan ok from the ADF, and that the

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 2048433] Re: scanning from ADF on Epson WF-7710 has page offset

2024-01-13 Thread Bernard Moreton
Epson WF7710 supports A3 scanning, and this may be the cause of the
problem.

scanimage --help gives
Options specific to device `escl:https://192.168.1.73:443':
  Scan mode:
--mode Lineart|Gray|Color [Lineart]
Selects the scan mode (e.g., lineart, monochrome, or color).
--resolution 100|200|300|600|1200dpi [100]
Sets the resolution of the scanned image.
--source Flatbed|ADF|ADF Duplex [Flatbed]
Selects the scan source (such as a document-feeder).
  Geometry:
-l 0..289.052mm [0]
Top-left x position of scan area.
-t 0..423.672mm [0]
Top-left y position of scan area.
-x 8.12799..297.18mm [297.18]
Width of scan-area.
-y 8.12799..431.8mm [431.8]
Height of scan-area.
  Enhancement:
--preview[=(yes|no)] [no]
Request a preview-quality scan.
--preview-in-gray[=(yes|no)] [no]
Request that all previews are done in monochrome mode. On a
three-pass scanner this cuts down the number of passes to one and on a
one-pass scanner, it reduces the memory requirements and scan-time of
the preview.
--brightness -100..100 (in steps of 1) [inactive]
Controls the brightness of the acquired image.
--contrast -100..100 (in steps of 1) [inactive]
Controls the contrast of the acquired image.
--sharpen 0..3 (in steps of 1) [inactive]
Set sharpen value.
--threshold 0..255 (in steps of 1) [-1226889112]
Select minimum-brightness to get a white point

Type ``scanimage --help -d DEVICE'' to get list of all options for
DEVICE.

List of available devices:
escl:https://192.168.1.73:443 airscan:e0:EPSON WF-7710 Series

scanimage -d 'escl:https://192.168.1.73:443' --format=pdf --mode Gray --source
ADFgives an A3 scan
scanimage -d 'escl:https://192.168.1.73:443' --format=pdf --mode Gray --source
ADF -x 277 -y 297 gives an A4 scan, with left-offset again
scanimage -d 'escl:https://192.168.1.73:443' --format=pdf --mode Gray --source
ADF -l 0 -x 277 -y 297 does the same
BUT
scanimage -d 'escl:https://192.168.1.73:443' --format=pdf --mode Gray --source
ADF -l 5 -x 277 -y 297 gives:
scanimage: rounded value of tl-x from 5 to 5
scanimage: rounded value of br-x from 215 to 215
scanimage: rounded value of br-y from 297 to 297
Segmentation fault (core dumped)
and the same is true for any value other than 0 given to "-l N".
The scan is physically started before the segmentation fault occurs.

Giving "-l N" seems to be the way to fix the left-offset, and
autochanges br-x. A value of about 67 would seem right - but we can't
get to that point.

I have got the Epson proprietary linux scan utility to work; and (apart
from single-sided scan seeming to scan only the reverse side of the
paper!) it scans correctly.
