Because I am running wayland, I cannot open another tty either. If I close the laptop lid again and wait 30s or so and reopen to retry, it will work. ### Steps to reproduce Not 100% reproducible, happens sometimes. 1. open laptop to login from suspend 2. see login screen with time and all looks normal but is unresponsive ### What happened The login screen is hung and unresponsive to clicks/touches(touchscreen)/any keyboard input events. ### What did you expect to happen The login screen should be responsive to input. ### Relevant logs, screenshots, screencasts etc. After a successful login, I see a crash in journalctl: ``` Mar 01 09:58:40 fenrir gnome-shell[2799]: JS ERROR: Gio.DBusError: Error calling StartServiceByName for net.reactivated.Fprint: Failed to activate service 'net.reactivated.> _injectToMethod/klass[method]@resource:///org/gnome/gjs/modules/core/overrides/Gio.js:273:25 _makeProxyWrapper/<@resource:///org/gnome/gjs/modules/core/overrides/Gio.js:250:17 ShellUserVerifier@resource:///org/gnome/shell/gdm/util.js:154:31 _init@resource:///org/gnome/shell/gdm/authPrompt.js:72:30 _ensureAuthPrompt@resource:///org/gnome/shell/ui/unlockDialog.js:691:28 _showPrompt@resource:///org/gnome/shell/ui/unlockDialog.js:730:14 vfunc_key_press_event@resource:///org/gnome/shell/ui/unlockDialog.js:630:14 ``` ProblemType: Crash DistroRelease: Ubuntu 22.04 Package: fprintd 1.94.2-1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 5.15.0-18.18-generic 5.15.12 Uname: Linux 5.15.0-18-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.20.11-0ubuntu78 Architecture: amd64 CasperMD5CheckResult: unknown CrashCounter: 1 Date: Tue Mar 1 09:58:16 2022 ExecutablePath: /usr/libexec/fprintd ExecutableTimestamp: 1645749862 InstallationDate: Installed on 2020-06-29 (609 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 20.04 LTS "Focal Fossa" - Release amd64 (20200423) ProcCmdline: /usr/libexec/fprintd ProcCwd: / ProcEnviron: LANG=en_US.UTF-8 PATH=(custom, no user) SegvAnalysis: Skipped: missing required field "Disassembly" Signal: 11 SourcePackage: fprintd UpgradeStatus: Upgraded to jammy on 2022-01-04 (55 days ago) UserGroups: N/A To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/gnome-shell/+bug/1962566/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages Post to : desktop-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 2016990] Re: Irregular frame rate in some fullscreen games
It seems like you've provided a detailed report of the issue you're facing with Path of Exile on Ubuntu Wayland session. The workaround you've mentioned, adding CLUTTER_PAINT=disable-dynamic-max-render-time to /etc/environment, suggests that there might be an issue related to dynamic rendering time that could be affecting the game's performance. Given that the game runs smoothly on Plasma Wayland but not on Ubuntu Wayland, it might be worth looking into the compositor differences between the two desktop environments. Different compositors can handle graphics rendering in their own ways, and this can impact the performance of fullscreen applications and games like https://ffh4xapks.com/ Here are a few suggestions to explore: Compositor Settings: Check the compositor settings on both Ubuntu Wayland and Plasma Wayland. Look for any specific settings related to Vulkan or fullscreen applications. Experiment with different compositor settings to see if there's any improvement. Driver Issues: Ensure that your GPU drivers are up-to-date. Check for any specific driver updates or patches related to Vulkan support for your Radeon 6800 XT. Sometimes, newer drivers can address compatibility issues. Wayland Protocol Support: Verify that the Wayland protocols used by Path of Exile are well-supported in the Ubuntu Wayland session. There might be differences in the Wayland implementation between Ubuntu and Plasma that affect how the game interacts with the system. Community Forums: Check the Path of Exile community forums or Ubuntu forums for any similar issues or solutions. Other users might have encountered and resolved similar problems. Game Settings: Experiment with different in-game settings, especially those related to graphics and Vulkan. Sometimes, specific combinations of settings can lead to performance issues. Monitor System Resources: Use system monitoring tools to check CPU and GPU usage while running the game in both environments. This can help identify if there are resource bottlenecks causing the frame rate fluctuations. Wayland Session Updates: Keep an eye on updates to the Ubuntu Wayland session. Sometimes, newer releases or updates can include fixes for compatibility issues with certain applications. Remember that troubleshooting graphics and gaming performance can be complex, and it may require a combination of different approaches. If the issue persists, reaching out to the Path of Exile support or Ubuntu forums for more specific assistance may be beneficial. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to mutter in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2016990 Title: Irregular frame rate in some fullscreen games Status in Mutter: Fix Released Status in mutter package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Status in mutter source package in Jammy: Won't Fix Status in mutter source package in Lunar: Won't Fix Status in mutter source package in Mantic: Fix Released Bug description: [ Impact ] I'm having a strange issue with the game Path of Exile (free). I'm running the game from Steam with Proton. I've tried Proton Experimental and Proton 8.0 so far, no difference. The game uses Vulkan so I guess it's being allowed to set up all the swap and presentation stuff pretty much itself... ? MUTTER_DEBUG_DISABLE_TRIPLE_BUFFERING=1 doesn't help Mutter so it's not strictly related to triple buffering, which makes sense since it's a full screen game anyway. Open Settings > About and verify Graphics = llvmpipe and Windowing System = X11. 4. sudo snap install chromium 5. Open Chromium and find a web page with lots of text. Plain text without any links and staying at the top of the page will work best because you don't want to trigger any scrolling. 6. Start selecting text with the mouse and while holding the button move the mouse up and down rapidly. Avoid triggering any page scrolling. 7. Release the mouse button in roughly the middle of the area of text that was selected. 8. Verify the remaining text selection is contiguous and not broken into multiple disconnected text selections (the bug). 9. Repeat steps 7 and 8 several times to be sure. [ Where problems could occur ] The fix adds a new synchronization point between the compositor and X server. This should be inconsequential, although there is a "sync ring" in mutter used for this, and if a mistake occurs there then other parts of the desktop could appear to stop responding in Xorg sessions. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 2054510] Re: Incomplete screen redraws in virtual machines running Xorg
Hello Daniel, or anyone else affected, Accepted mutter into jammy-proposed. The package will build now and be available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mutter/42.9-0ubuntu6 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository. Please help us by testing this new package. See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update out to other Ubuntu users. If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug, mentioning the version of the package you tested, what testing has been performed on the package and change the tag from verification-needed- jammy to verification-done-jammy. If it does not fix the bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to verification- failed-jammy. In either case, without details of your testing we will not be able to proceed. Further information regarding the verification process can be found at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in advance for helping! N.B. The updated package will be released to -updates after the bug(s) fixed by this package have been verified and the package has been in -proposed for a minimum of 7 days. ** Changed in: mutter (Ubuntu Jammy) Status: In Progress => Fix Committed ** Tags added: verification-needed-jammy -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to mutter in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2054510 Title: Incomplete screen redraws in virtual machines running Xorg Status in Mutter: Fix Released Status in mutter package in Ubuntu: Fix Committed Status in mutter source package in Jammy: Fix Committed Status in mutter source package in Mantic: Fix Committed Status in mutter source package in Noble: Fix Committed Bug description: [ Impact ] When using software rendering on Xorg (so usually just in VMs), some parts of app windows may fail to redraw. https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/mutter/-/issues/2880 [ Test Plan ] 1. Set up a virtual machine without graphics acceleration. 2. Log into 'Ubuntu on Xorg'. 3. [ Other Info ] This is a regression that started in 3.37.3 due to https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/mutter/-/commit/551101c65cda. Using a normal version of Chromium (not a snap) works as expected so I believe there is an issue with the snap package. /usr/share/libdrm/amdgpu.ids: No such file or directory [6505:6505:0224/105129.482765:ERROR:object_proxy.cc(576)] Failed to call method: org.freedesktop.ScreenSaver.GetActive: object_path= /org/freedesktop/ScreenSaver: org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NotSupported: This method is not implemented System and snap info Chromium Snap version: latest/stable:122.0.6261.57 Linux 6.5.0-21-generic #21~22.04.1-Ubuntu SMP PREEMPT_DYNAMIC Fri Feb 9 13:32:52 UTC 2 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux PRETTY_NAME="Ubuntu 22.04.4 LTS" NAME="Ubuntu" VERSION_ID="22.04" VERSION="22.04.4 LTS (Jammy Jellyfish)" VERSION_CODENAME=jammy ID=ubuntu ID_LIKE=debian HOME_URL="https://www.ubuntu.com/"; SUPPORT_URL="https://help.ubuntu.com/"; BUG_REPORT_URL="https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/"; PRIVACY_POLICY_URL="https://www.ubuntu.com/legal/terms-and-policies/privacy-policy"; UBUNTU_CODENAME=jammy To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/chromium-browser/+bug/2054887/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages Post to : desktop-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 2055479] [NEW] I2S DAC not loading
Public bug reported: I am attempting to add an I2S DAC for line level output on a Raspberry Pi 5. The hardware is a Pimoroni Audio DAC Shim which uses the dtoverlay=hifiberry-dac The hardware, when used with Raspberry Pi OS (Bookworm) configured per instructions works fine, this I2S output DAC appears in the sound output selector pull-down, line-out works, so hardware and connections are good. When installed and configured on Ubuntu 23.10 Desktop, fully updated to current, the I2S DAC output does appear in the sound pull-down selector window, so the I2S DAC output can not be selected, and is not functional. Configuration consists of adding the following to the /boot/firmware/config.txt file: dtparam=i2s=on dtoverlay=hifiberry-dac When a user signs into Ubuntu, a pair of error messages appears 25 times in the CLI ttyAMA10 output: [ 23.126215] designware-i2s 1f000a.i2s: ASoC: error at snd_soc_dai_set_bclk_ratio on 1f000a.i2s: -22 [ 23.136303] HifiBerry DAC: ASoC: error at snd_soc_link_hw_params on HifiBerry DAC: -22 This seems to reference some kind of failure to initialize an I2S bit clock ratio parameter on the part of designware-i2s, which causes HiFiBerry DAC to error out. ~$ lsb_release -rd No LSB modules are available. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1793126]
Dear vaaydayaasra, To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today, LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed bugs which have not been touched for over a year. There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in getting confirmation that the bug is still present. If you have time, please do the following: Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/ If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice. If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice. Please DO NOT Update the version field Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker) Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular meaning that is not appropriate in this case) If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a REGRESSION. To do so: 1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/ 2. Test your bug 3. Leave a comment with your results. 4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo'; 4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat: https://web.libera.chat/?settings=#libreoffice-qa Thank you for helping us make LibreOffice even better for everyone! Warm Regards, QA Team MassPing-UntouchedBug -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to libreoffice in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1793126 Title: [upstream] Automatic cell alignment in Calc breaks with bidi-neutral characters Status in LibreOffice: Confirmed Status in libreoffice package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: Calc seems to assign the alignment of any particular text cell based on the contents of the cell: if the first character is a LTR character, the cell is aligned to the left, and if the first character is RTL, the cell is aligned to the right. This is desirable behavior but it breaks when the first character is neutral, i.e. a character that behaves as RTL in an RTL context and as LTR in a LTR context. See the attached screenshot where cell A1 "abc" is automatically aligned to the left and cell A2 "ابت" to the right. When I surround these strings with parentheses, which are bidi-neutral characters, in A3 and A4, both are aligned to the left. For some reason, even font metrics break with this assignment, as the last character of the Arabic string overlaps visually with the closing parenthesis (I think this is a separate issue and I’ll file it as such). In column C, I have copied the contents of column A but changed the directionality setting of cell C4 manually to RTL through Format Cells > Text direction. Here the cell is properly aligned to the right and the closing parenthesis does not overlap with the last character of the string. According to the Unicode standard, neutral characters should not affect directionality, and that’s what I would expect as a user, too. I think the best solution would be for Calc to skip all neutral characters in the beginning of the string and just consider the first strong character for cell alignment. Even better, Calc could use this heuristics to assign full text directionality for the cell, not just change alignment. Right now, if you start the cell with an RTL character followed by a LTR inset and then continue with RTL again, the substrings are ordered as in a LTR context ("FIRST second THIRD"), not as in true RTL ("THIRD second FIRST"). [Desktop-packages] [Bug 2051074] Re: Mirror mode doesn't work when panel only supports one refresh rate with reduced blanking
Mantic built OK, except on arm64 and armhf due to known flaky tests. We can try rebuilding for those. Jammy failed to build mostly due to a new bug 2055519 (unrelated to our changes). So we should add a fix for that and roll a new version. amd64 also failed with "fatal error: meta/meta-enum-types.h: No such file or directory", which I cannot reproduce locally. I can only reproduce bug 2055519 on jammy. ** Tags removed: verification-needed-jammy ** Tags added: verification-failed-jammy -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to mutter in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2051074 Title: Mirror mode doesn't work when panel only supports one refresh rate with reduced blanking Status in HWE Next: New Status in OEM Priority Project: New Status in mutter package in Ubuntu: Fix Committed Status in mutter source package in Jammy: Fix Committed Status in mutter source package in Mantic: Fix Committed Status in mutter source package in Noble: Fix Committed Bug description: [Impact] On systems equipped with reduced blanking panel, mirror mode can result to no image on external monitor. The reason is due to current fallback modes don't have pixelclock for reduced blanking, so inadequate refresh rate is used to mode set, and result with atomic commit failure. [Fix] https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/mutter/-/merge_requests/3449 Add reduced blanking (RB) to fallback modes, so mutter can use RB mode to meet pixelclock requirement in order to pick the right refresh rate. [Test] Connect an external monitor to affected system. Use the monitor hotkey to switch to mirror mode or use GNOME control center to choose mirror mode. With the patch included, the issue is no longer observed. [Where problems could occur] The modelines of reduced blanking have reversed Hsync and Vsync flags, so if the driver doesn't handle those flags correctly, the atomic modeset/commit may fail. I haven't observe any issue on Intel/AMD/Nvidia GPU so far.
