[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1751005] Re: libreoffice cannot open a document not within $HOME

2018-02-23 Thread Pankaj
I was running into the same issue after the latest upgrade of 17.10 and
libreoffice, and I tried a couple of things that have both failed. I
have my libreoffice files sitting on FAT filesystem that I mount in
fstab. Earlier I was mounting it at /data which I changed to /mnt/data.
Yet I am unable to open my files (now under /mnt/data) in libreoffice. I
also tried another trick of soft linking my Documents folder under
/mnt/data to ~/Documents, and when I navigate via ~/Documents to open a
file in libreoffice it gives the same access denied problem.

Title:
libreoffice cannot open a document not within $HOME

Status in libreoffice package in Ubuntu:
  Opinion

Bug description:
Starting with today's update to LibreOffice 5.4.5.1 40m0(Build:1),
files not within the user $HOME directory cannot be opened. This has
nothing to do with ownership or permissions - the target document is
owned by the user with full permissions. Moving the file to ~/Desktop
allows it to be opened normally.

  Error message in popup window:
Access to /home2/mico/documents/personal/2018 lists.ods was denied.

Error message when launched from terminal:
  $: localc "2018 lists.ods"
javaldx: Could not find a Java Runtime Environment!
Please ensure that a JVM and the package libreoffice-java-common is installed.
If it is already installed then try removing
~/.libreoffice/3/user/config/javasettings_Linux_*.xml
Warning: failed to read path from javaldx

The file mentioned in the error message does not exist.
I removed the corresponding file under ~/.libreoffice/4/ but that makes no
difference.

This but started in Ubuntu 18.04 (alpha) around Feb. 15, and with
today's update (Feb. 22) it appeared in Ubuntu 17.10.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 2024952] [NEW] I get an error from grub on boot 'No server sprcified, No suitable video mode found' And the plymouth splash doesn't come up. But it is visible during shutdown,

2023-06-24 Thread Pankaj Agarwal
Public bug reported:

Description:Ubuntu 23.04
Release:23.04

plymouth:
  Installed: 22.02.122-3ubuntu2
  Candidate: 22.02.122-3ubuntu2

 *** 22.02.122-3ubuntu2 500
500 http://in.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu lunar/main amd64 Packages

While booting I expect to see the graphical splash without errors.

When I boot Ubuntu I get two errors from grub telling that no server has
been specified and no suitable video mode found. Although I have edited
the grub file and added the resolution of my monitor there. As of now I
have turned grub boot into text only and the errors went away but the
boot process is still minus a graphical splash.

Title:
asp.net 4.0 with apache does not seem to work on trusty

Status in “xsp” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
This is a sister-bug to #1292567 which reports a similar problem with
asp.net 2.0. I have created two different reports, because the faults
manifests themselves very differently, depending on the asp.net
  version.

I have created an extremely small ASP.NET application (attached as a
  tar file).

When I run that against the apache server on saucy salamander, using
  mono-server4, it runs just fine.

When I run it against the apache server on the current beta of trusty
tahr, using mono-server4, the mono-server4 dies with a SIGABRT. The
client gets a 500 error and the mono process running
  /usr/lib/mono/4.5/mod-mono-server4.exe disappears from the system.

Luckily there is a good description in the apache error log:

  Debug info from gdb:

  =
Got a SIGABRT while executing native code. This usually indicates
a fatal error in the mono runtime or one of the native libraries
  used by your application.
  =

So, as you see, the SIGABRT occurs in a basic mono runtime routine called
from the mod-mono-server4.exe
module. Of course, I cannot know whether the bug that causes the abortion is
in xsp or in basic mono. But
any search after the bug would start in mod-mono-server4, so I chose to file
the bug against that package.

I have the same bug on my company's larger ASP.NET application.

This report is not made from the trusty installation, that one is a
test installation without access to the net, so you don't get all the
stuff that apport would collect to you. Honestly, you don't need it to
reproduce, just grab a pristine trusty installation and try it!

However, a few important package versions:

  libapache2-mod-mono: 2.11+git20130708.6b73e85-4ubuntu1
  mono-complete: 3.2.8+dfsg-4ubuntu1
  mono-apache-server2: 3.0.11-1

I am willing to offer any possible kind of assistance in fixing this
problem - my company had looked forward to upgrade to trusty. But,
to be honest, I don't think you really need my help - the problem is
so trivial to reproduce, it ought to be pretty trivial to fix if you
  know the ropes.

  best regards

  Peder Chr. Nørgaard
