Re: slack @the-asf?

2018-04-26 Thread Lukasz Cwik
An ASF slack admin generated another link for me and I updated the
s.apache.org/slack-invite to work again.

I also requested that ASF slack admins do this periodically instead of
someone doing it each time.

Until this is automated, when this breaks just ask for an ASF admin on
#general such as @smarthi to generate the link and goto s.apache.org and
update slack-invite with the new link.

The page says to contact a workspace administrator for an invitation. Will
all existing users be automatically invited to the new workspace?

Re: slack @the-asf?

2018-03-14 Thread Lukasz Cwik
The site shows "Sign in to ASF, the-asf.slack.com, Enter your email address
and password."

I enter in the my apache account and credentials (I tested it on
id.apache.org to make sure it was correct) and get "Sorry, you entered an
incorrect email address or password."

Re: slack @the-asf?

2018-03-14 Thread Lukasz Cwik
Please update the Apache Beam slack channel link on the website and also
the self enrollment link.

Note that Slack started supporting self enrollment[1] for anyone and this
seems better then self enrollment for just Apache folks.

I don't have a strong feeling here. As long as there are instructions on
how to use the new slack channel, sounds good to me!

slack @the-asf?

2018-03-14 Thread Romain Manni-Bucau
Hi guys,

What do you think to migrate to the standard asf slack? I would make it a
bit more easy to find beam channel IMHO and it would stay consistent with
others. It also allows to auto join for asf guys.

If you think it is the way to go we can do:

1. put a message on current slack channel saying "we are moving to the-asf
#beam, this channel will be closed on the XXX"
2. notify it on the general (current) channel
3. update the website

Personally I think a transition period of 10 days is enough then channels
can be archived.

Wdyt?

Side note: asf is in the process to try to get history on slack as well
which would be beneficial for beam too.
