Branching from the 2.2 tag would be the cleanest way to go as the
branches that exist already are named after the target version.

I'll try to get to it this weekend.

back on the release topic (sorry for the delay, have been very busy
lately): does it sound ok for everyone if I backport the jcache changes in
2.2 and release it from here (Some pointer on which branch I can reuse or
if I should create one from the 2.2 tag would be welcomed)?

as a side note for anyone with some time we should probably upgrade master
to 3.0-SNAPSHOT from what I understood, no?

Me too! This seems to be a new feature of Thunderbird which came in on a
recent update. In addition to the "Reply" button I always used to press
there is a new "Reply to list" button. Obviously, one must use the
latter one. However, I keep using "Reply" and then wonder why my mail

I made an attempt to integrate the ConcurrentLinkedHashMap by Ben Manes.
See
https://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/commons/proper/jcs/branches/jcs-core-with-clhm
This would be a candidate feature for 3.0.
However, several (apparently unrelated) tests started to fail. Moreover,
the performance tests showed little or no improvement. If you want to

My reference always is JCSConcurrentCacheAccessUnitTest.java. The memory
caches should have locking mechanisms on their own and the auxiliary
updates are asynchronous anyway.

1. The CacheEventQueue has been derived from PooledCacheEventQueue and
most of its methods removed. The previous implementation smelled.
2. The memory caches have been modified massively. They provide less
duplicate code, better locking mechanisms etc
3. The ThreadPoolManager now returns ExecutorService instead of
ThreadPoolExecutor which allows to use ForkJoinPools once we go to
Java8. All occurrences in the code have been changed accordingly.

That's basically what I remember. All other changes have been backported

If you expect the next version to include _minor_ changes (like minor new
features), then 2.3-SNAPSHOT is fine. If you are only going to fix bugs,
then 2.3.1-SNAPSHOT would be appropriate.
