I'd be interested in collaborating on this WG. I'd probably not be able to
drive this, but would like to participate in discussions and maybe help
with one of the items.

[WG: Badging] Proposed working group

2024-02-28 Thread Rich Bowen
TL;DR: https://github.com/apache/comdev-working-groups/pull/26

Over the years, we’ve discussed a badging/achievement system, but have never
actually figured out the details around doing it. This is a proposal for a
working group to figure out what’s necessary, and determine whether we want to
set up such a system.

I’m interested in being part of the discussion, but don’t want to be the only
one driving it, since I’m already taking on too much. But I didn’t want to drop
a conversation that comes up several times a year, as far back as I can
remember.

Re: Web site checker needs help

Hi Craig,

Thanks for looking into this; I just looked at the warning that the
whimsy site found.
The most recent graduate project websites don't have this kind of warning.
If I remember correctly, the podling project must resolve the whimsy
site warnings before graduation.
Can we ask the PMCs to check the status of the site warning first?

It’s tricksy, too, because ComDev is an advisory, peer, project, NOT a policy
enforcement agent. That tool is 100% about policy enforcement, and so I’m very
leery of ComDev getting involved in that work. This feels like a blurring of
the separation of hats that we want to steer away from.

Whimsy is created and managed by the https://whimsical.apache.org/
PMC, why not make that happen there?
